I bought the Massca M2 and have been disappointed. I have been using a kreg clamp on jig for years, so this was going to be a big upgrade, or so I thought. I was excited to use it on my woodshop cabinet project, so when I received it, I put it right to work...I carefully followed the setup for the drill block as well as the stop collar on the drill guide. I loved that it clamped to my MFT top and the dust collection was great. The problem came when I started to assemble my cabinets a couple of weeks later...when I drove the pocket hole screws home, they were piercing through the side of the face panel. At first I thought that maybe I had made a mistake during the setup, so using a couple of scrap pieces I confirmed the settings and drilled again...same result. I had drilled the material for 4 cabinets so this turned out to be a huge problem...since I was not about to throw away perfectly good birch ply, I was forced to cut the tips off about 3/16 on almost 100 pocket hole screws. In the end it worked, but there is something off on the jig. To get the jig to drill a hole that will not pierce the face panel on 3/4 ply I am forced to set the block way off on the 2nd mark between the 1/2 & 3/4 and I have to set the depth stop using the next setting of 7/8 on the circle depth gauge. I tried a number of combinations, this was the only way I was able to get it to stop drilling holes too deep. The other issue I have is with the clamp, it works great for a little while, but when batching out parts it tends to come loose and you have to stop and readjust...the pocket holes in ply are also not as clean as I am used to with the cheap Kreg I have been using....I was going to return it, but I missed my window with Amazon by a couple of days. It's disappointing to spend $130 on a product only to have to then jerry rig it for it to work properly...

Definitely good feedback and I’ve gotten to know the Massca team over the years, reach out to them on Instagram see if they will work with you to find out why this happened. I’ve never had my screws blow through a workpiece. Not saying you set it up wrong but issues with manufacturing aren’t impossible either, and no doubt they’d love to get to the bottom of a problem like that because it’s not what they stand for. Thanks for sharing your experience and good luck in the future

I was *this* close this morning to head out to Lowes to purchase the K-720 Pro when the video I was reading the comments under said to read up on the Massca Pocket Hole Jig. So I typed Massca into the YT search feature and your vid was pretty close to the top if not at the top of the list. Just your vid convinced me to give the Massca a try. I went to the Massca site (MasscaProductsDOTcom) and looked over their selection. I chose the M2, Bundle #6 and sent my order in. Within seconds, my confirmation was at my Yahoo email addy. It will be here in 2-6 days! I like the way you fastened it to a piece of plywood and your parts storage. My trick will be to improve on that by some of the suggestions posted throughout all the comments here. I just now subscribed and am hoping the rest of your vids are this explanatory, (Whatever your) first name (is)! Take care

Thank you for subscribing, we’ve got a good slate of videos set for 2023, and couple more this year before the end as well. I think you’ll love the Massca jig, it’s been a great value for me over the last few years, I recommend it every chance I get.

The rods are stainless steel not aluminum. When you click these together you KNOW its not aluminum. The lock down for the board, in my unit, was changed out with Armor upgrade. No drilling necessary since the holes line up when installing the upgrade. Now my unit lock onto the wood without having to change the screw setting because it doesn't have a screw. This, in my opinion, creates the best of all jigs out there. I watched the WoodWorking Garage and learned the upgrade. Tough Guys thank you for this video. I agree this is one of the best out there.

I built a similar jig before the new model came out with 9/16s wood. Instead of building a box, I was going to screw a small tupperware to the jig. Also to not lose the drill depth guide you could take tiny flexible wire and tether it to the jig long enough to move out of the way and reach the massca base.

I have the red one, and I am not in love with it after using it for a while. This looks very nice, but maybe I am just a sucker for solid aluminum things. The singular flaw/annoyance is the clamp on the back side. For larger panels that will be an issue.

Thanks for your videos. I just placed an order for one. I too am a sucker for solid aluminum. I have been using the aluminum one from HF for years and did add my version of dust collection. I am looking forward to this ones dust collection. Just one idea or modification: I purchased an auto lock t track clamp at "R" wood working store and replaced the clamp with it. Its a great upgrade to my HF jig and I will move it to my new Massca jig.

Was in the market for a pocket-hole jig bought this, looks a lot better than the Kreg Jig. Kreg makes some cool stuff but building everything out of plastic and charging a premium (more than competitors are charging for aluminum) is something they need to address. Either update the materials or chunk the cost down.

Definitely a cool jig. But imo. Nothing beats the kreg k4 with armor tool self adjusting arm. I like the depth guide being built into the body of the k4 jig, I think i would loose that little depth guide . I love the aluminum though . How is it keeping up with that depth guide? I’ve noticed kreg went to that style also

Mine is just fine, I keep it on that board I built, never have any issues loosing anything. If I was someone that needed to take it with me in the truck / travel with it I'd be more concerned - but I try to keep pretty organized. I vote for the build quality over some of the smaller issues - plus the company itself is top notch, love the people over at Massca, and nowadays that goes a long way for me too. Great video! Could someone please explain why the adjustable depth stop ( the round plastic do-hicky ) is important or is better? For most of the other pocket hole jigs, the drill bit is only backed up approx 1/8" from the surface regardless of stock size. Thanks in advance!

Great detailed video. I like the fact it’s all aluminum, looks like a solid tool. Although, I am concerned about the blowout and what’s causing it. For the price and all the great features of this jig, you’d think the Massca engineers would figure out a way to correct this problem.
@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 3 жыл бұрын
Overall I'm still very happy with my Massca lineup, they make some great quality products no doubt. I experience the same blow out when drilling against the grain with any pocket hole jig I've ever used, just seems like a 'against the grain' or 'with the grain' issue to me, or maybe drill bits aren't sharp enough, or I'm going to fast, etc. but I don't feel like it's the jig itself. Thanks for the support!
@pd417
@pd417 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheToughGuysTV The blowout issue won’t deter me from getting this jig, the quality and attention to detail is much better than other brands, especially the blue one. Massca is about 30 min from where I live. I spoke with the owner a couple weeks ago and said I could stop by, see the jig and play with it.

Nice presentation. It looks like a fairly well built tool but I think it lacks in one major way. The guide block is aluminium. The Kreg jig, while mostly plastic, has hardened steel guide blocks. Over time, the aluminum guides will be destroyed by the drill bit.
@TheToughGuysTV
@TheToughGuysTV 3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure there is a steel ring in the guide block, so the bit is touching steel - could be wrong of course, just my understanding. Thanks for checking out the video!
