CPS blew it. They should have offered the mother individualized parenting education so that she could better understand how to protect her children. Instead, they wait until the last minute? When the father is ready for the kids to go home? Moving the goalpost like that is not appropriate. This is a perfect example of why clients do not trust CPS.

I don't understand how someone needs parenting classes to know you have to keep a decently clean home and have food for your kids. If someone is that drug addled or intellectually disabled that they can't figure that out then they shouldn't have their children. I think a 12 year old could do better than some of these parents. The father may be a good parent but mom seems way way out there and just has zero understanding of what's expected. I wouldn't want her left alone with the kids.

Yes as someone in the field, these dcbs people are absolutely on a power trip finding any reason they can. You are allowed to not have a license. You are also allowed to have the dad change diapers instead of mom. You are allowed to be a parent even if you are developmentally delayed. As long as it gets done (and it seems like everything except keeping the house tidy was being done just fine). Also, they said there was “no food” in the house but they receive a relatively low amount of money in SNAP, meaning dad likely made enough money for food. Maybe they liked to eat out or he could bring food home from work each night. Even if they didn’t have a lot of food, they weren’t spending it on drugs bc they came back clean. That is family in need of additional resources not having their kids ripped from them.

My husband who is an asylee in a Scandinavian country lost his driver’s license for a year, after getting 2 or 3 speeding tickets. He has sole custody of 3 yr old twins and not being allowed to drive is a massive PITA, but guess what? He uses public transport to get to work, and he’d call the 911 equivalent if he had an emergency. It’s not that earth shattering. I’ve seen parts of this case and understand that there are other issues… but yet they are taking the time to make it an issue. 😒

My sister had all 7 of her kids taken for 18 months. We went to court every time she did what they asked of her and her husband and for 18 months they had them in foster care that was horrible. They told her the only way for her to get her kids back was to divorce her husband and she did. They still played around with her and those kids. For some reason the judge was changed out and he got angry as the CPS could not answer one simple question… why where her kids removed in the first place. He turned to my sister and said the state owes you a huge apology and I am deeply sorry that you and your kids had to go through this and he ordered the kids to be returned immediately. They kids have never been the same and she was scared to even punish them after that.

I've supervised visits before and I have seen mothers not engaged with the children. As a worker, it's their job to report all concerns and interactions with the children. Maybe the mother is nervous being supervised, but when you barely get to see your children there should be some interactions regardless of who is there. The agency is wrong to wait so long to report this. The other worker should have also counseled the mother during any incidents, promote engagement and access with mom what barriers does she believe she has regarding interacting with the children. I had a mother with mental health issues that was just genuinely afraid that she would hurt her baby just by holding her.

I think 99% of the best parents would probably get criticized by CPS for something. I dropped my child off at my church's nursery once and had forgotten my diaper bag in the car so I didn't have a diaper to give them. They had plenty there and it was no big deal but CPS would say that I "failed to provide diapers for my child"... which yes, it's true, but it's taken way out of proportion. I pray I'm never put in the crosshairs of CPS.

I agree. If you let a kid be a kid and play outside and explore , you’re being negligent.. if you’re kid gets a scrape on their body from falling because they’re playing… you’re not watching your kid or you’re being abusive. It’s crazy how they want you to be perfect !!! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ I wouldnt be surprised if these CPS workers are trash parents . They’re just protected by their group of co workers. Don’t ever feel bad for forgetting a diaper bag. Us moms have plenty on our brain. And it may go blank for some moments .. that’s part of having a growing baby in your stomach, and giving birth. You are an amazing mama. Don’t ever let anyone tell you different. There is no book on how to parent or how to become a parent. It comes naturally, if your babies are loved, nurtured, fed, bathed, clothed, they have everything they want and need & you give them attention and teach them right from wrong then CPS can F off . 🤍

I've seen it many times. I work with a nonprofit similar to PAT. We're a home visitation program that provides parenting education and support. I had a single mom with a small support group and some cognitive delays due to childhood trauma. Mom had a part-time job, received every state benefit possible, utilized public transportation, and took the baby to all pediatric visits and to every free activity offered in town. Mom was also a civil rights activist who spoke out against CPS and other government agencies. CPS took her baby, at 10 p.m. alleging neglect. CPS said since mom didn't have a large support group she may not know how to parent baby as she gets older. They said with her cognitive delays she may not know how to figure out how to care for baby as she ages! They grasped at every straw they could find but the judge said it was ludicrous and returned the baby.

If you have watched other videos of OnTropolis, this judge is actually one of the better ones. The reason she is upset is because these CPS workers and attorneys are taking up court time, asking for these at-whim hearings, when they were scheduled to meet a month later. There appears to be no basis to call this hearing, when there are so many other pressing CPS cases that need tending to. Given that the CPS worker was ill prepared, demonstrates why she is upset, and I do not blame her.

They grilled him about the most ridiculous things like "Where would you go to take the written part of D L ? Who would be willing to let you use their car to practice driving ? Do you know how much it cost for driving school ? Do you know you would need to have ins if you buy a car ? I was screaming at the screen. Things that no parent who is not under CPS scrutiny would ever be questioned about. They were harrassing dad at one point. By end of hearing, CW stated that she could not say that kids would be at risk if returned. Judge stated that dad not having D L would put kids at risk if there was an emergency !!! I was fllored and so disappointed in this Judge's (who I usually like) decision to not return kids because no D L . The one thing that goes in to her favor is that both parents are working full time. If they need help to maintain a good environment for the child then they should get it. If they need the government to help with childcare, food, housing, and medical then they have every right to those programs… they work and pay taxes. As long as they both are working then give the support.

Crazy thing is these kids were never in CPS care for being in danger or fear of abuse/negligence - but for drugs in the system.... They were never hurt before or "laying at the bottom of the stairs" or whatever 😂 my lord!!!! Give the parents back there kids. A comment about "there just so young still and have a lot to learn- so classes would 'benefit'" told me all I needed to know about the reaching happening here. Shame on this judge! Her judgement is so off, and she knows it! If she doesn't - she should loose her position or be investigated on past cases and reasons she kept families torn apart.

You wanna talk about cps sabotage THIS IS IT!! The Judge needs to call a conflict and assign a different worker immediately. I’m shocked she allowed this & I’m only 40 mins in Edit: If you’ve ever seen a supervised visit with a cps worker it’s literally gut wrenching & the most uncomfortable thing. I am able to foster in my state & other states, I have no criminal record & have a great record with cps however when my sister was in this situation & I went with her I felt like a child bc they literally sit 5 feet from you with a clipboard constantly writing what you do what you say how you move & what you don’t do. It’s nerve wrecking to say the least. They watch your every move & will interrupt your visit to tell you what to do/not do. That retired vegetable inspector had no right to make such serious allegations & I was listening at first but then she went way to far!!!!

Foster/Adopted mom here, I'm allowed to supervise visits in my state and all I can do is address my concerns to CPS, like if I feel the child is in danger or if I thought the parents were intoxicated/high/under the influence. If I deem the child is unsafe I can end a visit at any time. I've done it once in 13 years and that was bc mom and dad were taking turns to go to the restroom to shoot m3th.

@@amybaby04 fully agree. They hold way too much sway with the courts. It's like just bc they work for CPS the courts think they are incapable of wrong doing. They are human too, they can lie just as easily as the next person.
