I tend to play a lot of three color or recently I now have two five color decks as well, I've been really wanting to do my first monocolor this will definitely get me out of my comfort zone. @@rob-8742 assuming people let you live long enough for Elesh Norn to hit the field from your command zone... 7 CMC is a high number to hit for a color that struggles to ramp and draw cards. But yeah... I agree, mono white has been the weakest singular color for a while now, though I would argue that Boros is still weaker than mono white, mostly because the legendary creatures for Boros are largely large and clunky to try to play in those color, with Feather and Akiri being the exceptions.

Oh I'm not saying it shuts down the deck completely but I do run ellesh norn as my commander in my angel deck and have land tax and other cards that let you search for lands if opponent's control more lands than I do plus I also run cards that double the mana when each land is tapped like gauntlets of power extraplaner lenz etc. So I can run high cost creatures and keep 30 lands in the deck and when i get going its devastating also love gift of Immortality in that deck lol

I was just looking at building a Torbran deck earlier today, and I almost made a bunch of mistakes you pointed out in the video, so thanks for the advice in my future of bolting everyone and everything!

I think a big part of what makes Torbran sneaky good is that he breaks symmetry on damage-based effects, which effects like this in generally haven't done in the past. It actually opens up a more control-based strategy of using Earthquake-style effects to never let your opponents keep a creature around, ideally having kitted out Torbran with Darksteel Plate or something (but not necessarily, since 5 damage kills a lot, and we probably do have some targeted damage as well) and finishing them off either slowly with something like Mana Barbs, or quickly by sinking a bunch of mana into a Pyrohemia or a Tempt with Vengeance.

Looks like a neat deck! I love how mono-red has a variety of unique builds like daretti, krenko and neheb, but torbran looks like he could be just as powerful, or at least as fun, as them.
