I had a Valvestate combo amp that had a tube preamp, and a solid state power amp. I assume they were all like that. It's about a Swedish death metal tone. I had no idea a Marshall ever did that!

And yeah, they had a tube in the preamp, but tbh the gain and tone were solid state. It's basically a solid state amp with a tube in it. Not sure how much that one tube was really helping, haha.

Great Pedal. Have 2 Furman PQ3's & a PQ4 and an Empress Para Eq or I'd get one. Now they just need to make a MXR Flanger/Doubler in Pedal form ! Got the Original too and they're not cheap anymore. I have the ME SLOverdrive and the Death Metal/Stoner/Sludge worthy ME Misanthrope . Great Pedals Dog Gonnit'. Great Review ! BAM ! Get Some ! Get it all ! Oh Yeeeeaaaaaaaaah. Step into a Slim Jim.

Just saw LambChops video on this didn’t put the 8100 together with it. I’m gonna have to plug in my 8100 and reminisce. This pedal does sound great thought so in LambChops and confirmed in yours.

I'm actually thinking of getting one I love the 90s Chuck Schuldiner sound and you can't find Valvestates easily in Eastern Europe so for 200€ this is amazing!

Just got the Martyr, but have been too busy to put it though it's paces (gear accumulating!) It would be cool to demo this and the Misanthrope at the same time, in the same tuning, maybe a couple different tunings, and different amps's fx loops and/or direct, to get a good feel for the differences.

When fed with a low-noise humbucker guitar signal and clean, isolated power, does this pedal retain a quiet hiss/hum background self-noise-floor when the Gain knob is maxed? I'm not referring to any RF noise coming through the guitar.

It's not very noisy at all even with the gain dimmed, but any distortion will have some noise to it.
