Just wanted to say thanks man. Took me 3 years to get the Apex Elite standing desk of my dreams. 2 years ago I watched your first vid about the smaller raceway. I caught this one and went with the large one as well. I have 2 monitors, a razor orb-weaver, Yamaha 10 channel mixer, rode nt condenser mic, and a complete thrustmaster hotas. My cables are managed beautifully thanks to your advice. Thanks again brother.

tl;dr Follow Myxo's setup advice and get a 3x3 raceway. I watched your videos in August and have a near replica of your setup (minus the standing portion). My biggest regret is going with a 2x2 raceway. I believe I outgrew it the day I got it. If you want a Karlby setup, and want nice cable management, you need 10ft cables for almost every piece of gear. If you have 2 monitors hooked up to both a desktop and laptop with a spare HDMI cable for something like a console, that means you have 5 video cables + 3 power cables = 80ft of cable already. Every time I need to change a cable in my setup it becomes an hour-long process because all of the cables are wrapped in the raceway too tightly. Now that I'm upgrading my audio setup to include a mixer, I'm just gonna get the 3x3 raceway. Also, drilling the raceway is a necessity IMO.

Nicely done. I built my desk from 2" Ash and I added a channel at the back for wire management. After seeing this, I think I may add raceway to further enhance its function. Liked/sub'd.

Thanks for the guide. I bought and just received all the accessories you posted here through your links. Do you remember what hole configuration you used for screwing in the cable track?
@Myxo14
@Myxo14 5 жыл бұрын
I don't remember the exact config, but I used a hole closest to the middle of the desk and holes on the closest opposite ends...so I believe three holes in total. It's screwed down pretty tight, so there is no wobble or movement of any kind (even while removing the lid). I'm still very happy with it, and don't see any reason to change/re-do anything.

@@Myxo14 Thanks for your response. What about your monitor arms?
@Myxo14
@Myxo14 5 жыл бұрын
Totally missed that...I bought the monitor arms used and they are unbranded, so I don't have more info on them. This actually is my most asked question, and I don't have a solid answer. I've gotten different monitor arms over the years in an attempt to be able to recommend one to viewers, but I wasn't happy with any of them (they didn't support the weight of an ultrawide)...I'm still looking though.

Hey man, know this is an old video, but nice work. Was curious if you think it's doable to do something like this with the desktop on the ground instead. I also have a standing desk and my tower isn't flashy, so I don't feel the need to show it off. I appreciate the extra desk space I get for having it on the ground instead, but does this mean it's not doable to make a similar cable management setup as yours since the cables are all heading towards the ground? I also get a bit limited with cable management since I need to have the cables more lax if I want to raise the height of my desk.
@Myxo14
@Myxo14 4 жыл бұрын
I would attach your computer to the bottom of the desk with a computer hanger so when you raise the desk, the pc would go with it. If you watch the video again, I have my subwoofer attached to a computer hanger so it moves with the desk.

Hey man, interested to know why you went for 2 single monitor arms as opposed to a dual monitor arm
@Myxo14
@Myxo14 5 жыл бұрын
I've two reasons for not using a dual monitor arm...firstly, with my desk being against a wall, I was unable to pivot the arms in the right alignment to have the monitors sit cleanly against one another (i would need to pull the whole desk forward to give one of the arms the positioning it needed without hitting the wall...if that makes sense). Secondly, I could not find a dual arm that supported the weight of an ultrawide monitor. With individual monitor arms, it's way easier to get the positioning I want without hitting the back wall. Since this video, I replaced both my monitor arms. Hopefully I'll get around to making that video soon (and I'll try to mention why I use two monitor arms as I think that's a good question)...I'm getting married in a few weeks, so once that is done I should have time for content creation!

I know right! I've been telling myself that for the past 10 months...I've a few video ideas I hope to get out soon. I love my Alienware. It's still my primary monitor. IPS panel and 120 Hz...buttery smooth!
