MASTERCLASS 6: The Importance of Social Connection: It Takes a Village, presented by board certified neuropsychologist Dr. Karen D. Sullivan, sponsored by the Reid Fellowship for Healthcare Transformation of The Foundation of FirstHealth.
It’s well known that social connectedness is crucial to early brain development; however, staying socially active is also important for the adult brain. Remaining in community-based activities as we age has been shown to keep our minds sharp (maybe even slowing down cognitive decline), increase independence and improve the quality of physical and mental life. In this I CARE FOR YOUR BRAIN lecture, “The Importance of Social Connection in Older Adulthood: It Takes a Village,” she discusses the brain-benefits of staying connected to a community as we get older. The lecture will include an up-to-date research report on the topic and evidence-based recommendations to help participants increase social activities in a way that is meaningful to the individual.

Some very good points. Social connection would be the key thing missing in the lives of 3 of my elderly friends. I intend to interact with them more and get everyone involved in some social activity. Being around the same age group with similar interests etc thumbs 👍🏻

I've enjoyed most of the presentations, by Dr Sullivan and her team. This Master Class has been very informative. I'm still not totally happy with Dr Sullivans ideas on diet. I'm listening from Duncan Vancouver Island (just north of Seattle Washington. (my original reasons for joining Dr Sullivan's is Essential Tremor, propreception. I'm age 90, with no meds and still golfing and driving) Keep up the great presentations. Joe Yablonski
