Watching and listening to that beautiful human being, Betty White, opened a floodgate of tears. It’s 2022 but she missed the New Year by less tan 24 hours and her 100th birthday by mere days. I venture to guess that many feel the same sadness - an acquaintance of mine just recently remarked about aNOTHER loved one’s passing and I think it’s apropos for Betty: ‘our loss is heavens gain’. RIP.

End-of-week H/H match recap: ... ~~~Today's action: Well, our champion needed six matches with her final question to even score a tie. After hearing the question, it was pretty clear that wasn't going to happen. I thought "bottom" was the definitive answer, but the panel was about 50/50 split between nose and bottom. She goes home with $1,200 after her single victory. So we get to see a new champion in action. Today's audience match question: "Hi Ho _________ " (My thoughts: cheerio the farmer in the dell, Silver away!, ???) The celebs: Richard (Silver), Betty (hi ho it's off to work we go), and Brett (the merry o) The choice: The merry-o The answers: Crackers, Hi-Ho, Silver Dang it. Another Audience Match fail! (And we just had one last week in 726.) It wasn't the best question though. No H/H today. ~~~End-of-week H/H match recap: A fairly dismal head-to-head week. With today's audience match fail, we only got to see 4 H/H matches, and just one scored any loot for a contestant (and that was only $1,000): Richard 1/3, Betty 0/1 The only saving grace was that we got to see Betty play again, which is always a joy, even when she doesn't match. She ends the week slightly below Fannie and Charles with a 50% accuracy score which is still a truly awesome record for matching in the head-to-head. Watching all these episodes, I realize how tough it is to really match. Often the blame goes to the contestant who blanks out or comes up with an off-beat answer, but sometimes the celeb (yes, even Richard at times) gives an unlikely response. The questions also seem to vary wildly from easy ones with basically only one decent answer to questions with several equally valid possibilities. But that makes it fascinating to play along, and I always pause the video to give my answer before reading the comments or seeing what the contestant or celeb says. Another interesting aspect is trying to guess who the contestant will choose for the H/H, based on their interactions (if any) with the celebs during the game, which celebs they match during the game, and, most importantly, the order and the way they call on the celebs for audience match suggestion. If a new champion starts off by asking for "Oh, Richard, of course!" as her first celeb, you can pretty much guess who she'll choose for the H/H... Looking at the remainder of the panel, Brett retains her (slight) edge in accuracy over Richard for yet another week and Charles maintains his (roughly) 10-percentage-point lead over his two co-regulars. Dick Gautier completed his fourth week (leaving only two to go). He seemed to fly under the radar this week, being selected for a suggestion or two and that was it. He's only played the H/H once, but hasn't scored his first match yet. Mary Ann Mobley wrapped up her seventh week (leaving just three to go). She too escaped the contestants' attention, and so her stats remain unchanged: She's played the H/H 5 times and scored her first match on her most recent attempt, back in episode 585. ~~~Looking ahead to next week, our three regulars will be joined by: -----Semi-regular Fannie Flagg, whose last appearance was 3 weeks ago. This will be her 41st week (of 90), and she'll be the panelist with the best head-to-head track record (52.4% matching accuracy) next week. -----Dick Martin, whose timely appearance saves the MG crew the bother of changing the name in front of the first seat at the end of Dick Gautier's week. For next week's Dick, it will be his third week (of 22), having most recently appeared in episodes 616-620. Dick hasn't had a shot at the H/H yet. -----Juliet Prowse, who makes her Match Game debut. Me too! And I don't either. SO many talented celebrities on this show, and they never get a chance to talk or show their talents. Her BIG mouth is ALWAYS running and drawing attention to her annoying, obnoxious self. Or when she belittles or makes fun of other celebrities that she doesn't even know. It was funny when Ethel M told her to "Shut up". Or when Joey B on his first appearance got on her.

Brett had her fans as well as everyone else or they wouldn't have kept her on the show for 8 or so years.. ;0) Yes, Gene, was a very private man, and Helen gave each other space in their marriage and it last for 56 years until her death in 96, and he was heartbroken when she passed. He being a straight man to Brett, and even the hotel joke moved to Fannie making the jokes during one week. ;0) I might be now throw on the board after this one..

Well a slow week this week but Richard still managed to hold onto the title for another week giving away 1,500 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 15 matches for the semi regulars. Betty won for the semi regulars giving away 600 dollars in audience match matches with 13 matches. Brett gave away 250 dollars in an audience match match.
