Listening in March 2024. I am 77 and just discovered MB20 in 2023. I have everything they have recorded. I relate to a great deal of the lyrics Rob writes. Plus, I love the passion in their songs, not only by Rob, but all of the band. I agree he is a great songwriter. I also feel that he has a unique to him intonation when he sings. He often cuts off a sound and blends his words that create an identifiable and recognizable sound. I personally think his sound is so original, as to make it difficult to attempt to imitate. One of my favorite singers, both solo and in the band.

Every era is distinct in its identity so yes you are technically correct, but the underlying sentiment of "good music is not being made anymore" is wrong. People have said and felt what you are saying now in every single decade since recorded music was devised and before that, people were saying that the new compositions were not as good as the classics. There is always good music being made and released. If the radio no longer reflects your tastes, then it may be time to put in the work and dig deeper for the underappreciated gems.

IF YOU'RE GONE - MATCHBOX TWENTY | LYRICS I think I've already lost you I think you're already gone I think I'm finally scared now You think I'm weak, I think you're wrong I think you're already leavin' Feels like your hand is on the door I thought this place was an empire Now I'm relaxed, I can't be sure And I think you're so mean, I think we should try I think I could need this in my life, and I think I'm scared, I think too much I know it's wrong, it's a problem I'm dealin' If you're gone, maybe it's time to come home There's an awful lot of breathin' room, but I can hardly move If you're gone, baby, you need to come home, come home There's a little bit of somethin' me in everything in you I bet you're hard to get over I bet the room just won't shine I bet my hands I can stay here And I bet you need more than you mind And I think you're so mean, I think we should try I think I could need this in my life I think I'm just scared that I know too much I can't relate and that's a problem I'm feelin' If you're gone, maybe it's time to come home There's an awful lot of breathin' room, but I can hardly move If you're gone, baby, you need to come home, come home There's a little bit of somethin' me in everything in you I think you're so mean, I think we should try I think I could need this in my life, and I think I'm scared, do I talk too much? I know it's wrong, it's a problem I'm dealin' If you're gone, and maybe it's time to come home Well, there's an awful lot of breathin' room, but I can hardly move Well, if you're gone, hell, baby, you need to come home, come home There's a little bit of somethin' me in everything in you Everything in (Somethin' in me in) In you

My mom cheated on my dad and I remember sitting in the car with him when we moved to a whole other state, just us. This song was on and he was trying so hard to hold in his tears and when we got to my uncles we just sat in the car crying. This song reminded him of her and ever since, when he hears it, he always says "I think I've moved on. I no longer cry to this song" but I know he hasn't fully moved on... Every time we see her he vents to me about how he still loves her and every time I tell him he always will. Update: my parents talk frequently now and my mom has been putting an effort in to getting back our mother daughter relationship that we once had. Were on good terms with her and she explained everything that led up to what she did and the situation was very different than we thought. I wont be sharing why she did what she did because some matters should be left private. All im going to say is that we have forgiven her and i finally have a relationship with my mom again after years... Im beyond happy.

Matchbox 20 is definitely one of the greatest bands of the last 30 years and one of my favorites ever. I remember buying their first album when I finally got my first boom box as a kid in the 90s.

I'd be honored if some fans of mid/late 90s classics would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of "1979" by the Smashing Pumpkins, LONG DECEMBER by the Counting Crows, and NAME by the GooGoo Dolls in tribute to 3 great standards of the era. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Peace out and stay safe in the '020s.

In the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic, suddenly I remember this song. It feels like been years for not seeing a very good example of how good music and good video clips were made as they did. It makes me remember that good ol' time.

The only girl who lit up my dark and cold world, I sadly walked away from. I had no idea the mistake I was making. I was shadowed with my own mental problems and health problems that I thought the relationship was adding more stress. I realize now that woman made it so much better and less scary. I miss you baby, I hope someday you come back home with our little boy. I miss you both so very much. I love you guys. I will keep working on our relationship with you, until I get to come home to you both ❤️❤️
