Guys, jesus, it's not about the weapons or ship he's using. It's about killing pirates and scooping the mats. You don't NEED this exact build to do this.

Exactly. You can also apply the same mentality to Federation & Imperial Rank. All you have to do is take missions from a faction that has the FED or IMP logo. Can be any mission.. trade, combat, etc. Taking the Rep+ payouts will boost it the fastest, but even if you take cash or mats you still build rank. When you're selecting a "home base" maybe try finding one that has a few factions that are FED or IMP that way you'll build up rank without even noticing it when doing missions for them.

I think all Astro is really trying to say is this is a lot funner than grinding mats for hours on end. I just spent a entire day at the Jameson Wreck Site grinding encoded mats. It makes me hate the game designers

If you want to get materials without grinding all you need is to spend several months in power play and have already grinded the materials for a fully engineered ship. Super easy! Barely an inconvenience!

To be fair, you can do that in pretty much any ship. It doesent NEED to be condas, any pirate drops a bunch of materials. I agree however that for demonstration purposes an unengineered ship wouldve been more suitable.

@The Infidel It is fun to use different ships with different weapons apart from same old cutter/conda/vette with beams and multicannons. Its not really totally useless either as you are still required to farm materials even when you have engineered up to this point. This isn't a new player's build. If you want help for materials as a new player go look at his many other videos covering this topic.

I’ve got an engineered Phantom and I find this video massively useful. There are many ships that I have and want to engineer so, although the Phantom was quite a grind to engineer, I can use these methods to sort out my other ships. Pretty simple, really.

Just got a Chieftain and Crusader. Funny coincidence. That’s what I’m using them both for. Thanks for the info, now I know where to go, and to take my friend to for piloting my launch fighters. I have a different weapons load out, but it works for me. One ship has two plasmas and four multi-cannons, the other has three rails and three multi-cannons. Haven't done any power-play just yet, so I got to work with what's currently available to me...

Just do Dav's Hope. I'd rather do that for an hour and a half than grind combat locations for hours with less yield. If you do Dav's Hope for an hour and a half you will have enough manufactured materials for a while. And if you have 30ish range and you're in the bubble then it's not a long journey.

Doing Dav's Hope is a waste at this point. If you're in a hurry to fill up, just hit a HGSS and use the process of resetting it to fill up on any G5 mat then down trade and cross trade.

Looks like a fun build. Some friends and I do similar on 'massacre pirate' missions. You end up with enough low level mats to trade.

Great vid D2EA. I've yet to play about with an Allaince Chieftain so this could he a good laugh! However... the massive amount of engineering and power play required beforehand is rather off putting. I have a load of materials but no doubt I'll need a load more to tier 5 every module. Think I'll start raiding Pirates with my Vette, grab some materials and slowly put my Chieftain together. Sweet!

If you just want to get your first engineered ship up and ready, go grind high grades. If you already have a dozen ships you certainly want a change from that tho. Allso, i totally WILL complain about any game that forces me to spend more time relogging than playing the actual game. Its not like systems have a dozen highgrades that you can actually farm, you search for half an hour for a suitable HG and then play relog dangerous. I am shocked about FDev's definition of "gameplay", those guys need an employee that isnt completely retarded.

Anyone got a idea on how i am over-mass on upgrading my chieftan ? I literally just got it, I got other ships also. Im new to the game still, but i end to upgrade just a few core items. Once i went to upgrade it said you can't even buy this module cause your OVER-MASS.

so .. if using short range on those cyto's and only having literally 500m range, why go oversized instead of inertial impact? the extra jitter doesnt matter anymore on that range and even if a very few beams go past its still more. also why the overcharged on the pacifiers when double-shot does more dps as well?

I know this is an extremely late reply and you probably know this by now, but for anyone reading, the substitute for ctyos would just be Burst Lasers with short range blaster modification and intertial impact experimental effect. This increases your damage by 50% and splits the damage between thermal and kinetic, so after their shields go down, you can keep using the burst lasers to good effect. This introduces a strong jitter, which means you need be close to the enemy to make it worth it

Oh hey TiL what I was already doing was this cool thing... TbH learning to manually scoop is pretty fast in Chieftain hulls and skips the need for limpet management entirely. Looking at those cytos struggle I'm realizing my entirely un-engineered dumbfire crusader build isn't actually that bad at shield breaking considering i'm fighting the exact same target.

Take a Krait A-rate everything Fixed beams on the 2s, gimballed frags on the 3s Full size A rated shield 3 A rated shield boosters 1 chaff 1 fighter hanger with your preferred fighter and crew Everything else filled with hull refs There you go. Unengineered ship that will still kill anything easily.

Assassinate missions are also a good place to get materials.

The reason why your limpets almost always die in engagements is because point defense utility mounts will shoot down projectiles of hostile targets. Limpets are counted as projectiles, and are linked to their owner, so if you are hostile to a pirate with point defense and have limpets active they will shoot them down as soon as they are in range. It's really useful if you are flying a T9 and get interdicted by a cheeky pirate packing hatchbreaker limpets but otherwise it's just an interesting, mildly annoying aspect of material collection in combat.

My build for this exact job is 3 beam lasers and the rest multi cannons. I use the crusader over the chief. I will also take a few pirate massacre missions to be earning credits while I blast crap. I have similar builds for about 12 other ships.

Don’t target the individual materials. If you do that then a collector goes off and does that one piece and then expires after delivery. Target nothing and all the collectors will collect everything and not expire.

No matter how often it is repeated, it is wrong that Cytos don't work against hull. As long as the corrosive effect is on the hull (see HUD indicator for the target) they damage the hull. I take an engineered Ana down with an Adder with two Cytos and a corrosive frag cannon. Just takes too long so without ammunition builds with 4x rails on e.g. the Gunship kill much faster. Always have something with you to put corrosive on the hull and cascade on the shields to cancel SCBs if you want to kill quickly.

Exactly. That's because corrosive temporarily nerfs the target's Armor Rating all the way down to 0, so suddenly a weapon with an armor penetration of 1 does full damage. Kinda weird that D2EA had exactly the right setup and still didn't figure it out. Except the experimental on the cytos, he got that wrong as well.

Is it possible to find a version of this build that does not use or require a shizit-load of engineering, guardian, and power play items? Supposedly, the idea behind the build is to be able to collect the mats you need in order to be able to do the various engineering to improve your ship(s). If I need to have that much engineering, plus guardian, plus power play completed (not to mention the hundreds of millions of credits to buy all the various modules). Just to be able to build the ship needed to collect the mats. Then I've already collected all of those mats and no longer have any need for a ship built for collecting mats with.

Also look for kill missions that will teward you for massacring pirates when you plan to farm them for mats. Might as well get some mats /money as reward too

Why not double shot on pacifiers? Essentially it's 100% damage increase since your ammo doubles as well, so your capacity stays the same.

Got back in the game after a few years, decided to invest time into engineers, came upon that video on how to collect engineer's materials, looks like a fun way to gather said materials, "only thing" is, you need to be pledged for 1 month to lasers/shotgun boy, and have GUARDIAN++ENGINEERED++ shield booster to actually do it the way it's being explained. So -> to farm materials for engineers, you need a fully engineered ship and a 1 month faction grind. Any link to like "how to easy farm engineer materials for the very first time" ? Because the whole "you need da thing to farm da thing" concept is bugging me...

you should switch you build to edsy its more acurate in numbers in coriolis many times the stats are not so acurate so edsy have become better in this category so for ship building and planing exact numbers are very important

How does one manage to keep NPC's from doing nothing but jousting. Humans have to obey the laws of physic's unless they are quite suficent utilizing FA off, which only a few well seasoned player can manage to do.

Have better maneuverability. Use boosts to compensate when they use their boosts to try and get position on you. There is a reason he's going for Anacondas... they fly like bricks.

One has to wonder..whom this video is actually targeting. Noobs? I doubt they had the time to actually unlock all the engineers necessary for this build and had enough mats to start the actual engineering on armor, shields, boosters etc....second they would have had to pledge to Archon for a month..this guy is giving advices on flying tactics when he can't even maneuver behind a NPC Anaconda in a G5 Chieftain..Third, after years playing the game and uploading engineering vids he still didn't figure out that any weapon can pierce through hull as long as used in conjonction with another corrosive weapon...they are better options for ships and loadouts out there with way better results.There is so much more that I could add but I'm gonna keep it short..useless build..useless vid

DTEA, your vids are usually very useful but this vid is kinda comical in how much time you talk about a completely unneeded ship build which requires Power Play grind. There are many other ship builds which would be just as fun and not require two months of work to build. You should have focused briefly on one of more of those.
