VW runs their vent pipe from the top of the water-tank up the inside of rear door pillar column above the manual fill port vent, so if you overflow your tank while filling the water comes out the the manual vent fill first. Might be a consideration to extend your vent up your door pillar so that you don’t inadvertently overfill your enclosed tank and flood your inside of your van.

Milly Playz I love seeing the snowboarding as well. I'm a skier and will stick with that. I tried learning snowboarding at 50 yrs old but after hours of only hearing the sound of "shit" and "guttural sounds" each time I fell (a whole lot) I decided I will stick with skiing. I go faster.

@@maggiehouseknecht4524 lol I could not agree more! I’m in my fifties now but tried snowboarding in my forties - my coxis has never been the same. I’m sticking to skis as soon as we are out of lockdown here. 😁

So glad you had no damage to your water system. Have I ever designed something that didn't work. Well not very often at work but at home some of my unconventional designs have frequently gone astray. My battery heater concept didn't work out as planned. Right? Glad your having a great time and I do hope somebody in your van didn't pop knee. Taylor, Cute dance but....

So glad your frozen pipe and tank is OK. I was concerned from another entry that you had plumbing issues which launched me to watch a bunch of youtube how to's. Seems it should be done at the start when you know you want to be in cold or hot weather. Do it once but not sure if that is recommended. Love the mountain views. You two are good snowboarders.

Do you have a gym membership to take showers? So is it van camping? Using the great outdoors for the bathroom? Looks like a great way to explore the lower 48!

Silly question but if you open a faucet with the pump off. Wouldn’t the open faucet act like a drain valve to let the air out while you are filling up? Just a suggestion, now I’m going to continue watching your video. :)

Hmmm, I don’t think so, not sure if the pump would seal off the tank

Hey guys! I love your outdoors adventures 🚐❄️❄️❄️😍, a lot. I felt like I was almost there in Aspen, CO. Beauuuutiful 🙂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. So good to know the water tank is alive and kicking 🙏🏻👌. Btw, what does “sketchy” means? That’s a new word for me 😊. PS: Taylor, you need to know when you made me yawned 🤣... yeah, right when I was watching this video and you were in the van getting ready for snowboarding in Aspen that morning, ... it was funny though 🤣.
@emmarowse80713 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I hope you don’t mind me jumping in to answer (I’m sure Kevin or Taylor will too) just to say ‘sketchy’ is a gentle term for dubious. In the U.K. we use it to mean a thing or a person so if someone was looking through your house windows and taking an interest you might say ‘they look sketchy’. Also if you were looking to buy a car and it was showing rust you might say ‘the car looks sketchy’. ☺️
@davidsqvbcn3 жыл бұрын
@@emmarowse8071 Hi Emma, I really appreciate it, thanks a lot for your time and help 🙂👍🏻👏. So, could we say ‘uncertain’ route instead of ‘sketchy’ route? Would that be a synonym for ‘sketchy’? Thanks again!
@emmarowse80713 жыл бұрын
@@davidsqvbcn Hi David, I had to ask at home so I didn’t misguide you...so, the dictionary definition for sketchy is something like uncertain - lacking detail, like a sketch rather than a whole picture. However, the modern colloquial meaning is darker - signifying something to be avoided if possible, rather like the old slang word ‘dodgy’. Sorry that’s a bit long winded ☺️
@MathersOnTheMap3 жыл бұрын
Hey David and Emma sorry for missing this one!!! Yes Emma used it correctly or atleast how we intend to use the word sketchy haha. David if ya ever want to go to the US to ski or snowboard Aspen is beautiful! Highly recommend!

Driven back and fourth from Northern California to TN few times this year and going through Colorado is so beautiful. I’m actually driving back to California with a Ford Transit AWD this up coming week. I’m going to upgrade my tires to some all terrains after watching your videos and testing my all seasons during our snow storm has me a bit nervous but it looks like you two are cruising along safely now. Have you had to chain up any during the drive? I’m going to be empty going back out and don’t want to risk sliding out. O I saw a video that had an expansion valve on their water tank. Could possible be a solution.
@MathersOnTheMap3 жыл бұрын
You should be good with all terrains and all wheel drive we only had to throw the chains on once leaving the ghee in Wyoming, 18 inches of snow

What about the function of your Gray tanks bring on the outside any trouble with freezing ?
@MathersOnTheMap3 жыл бұрын
Oh they freeze, if you want to prevent freezing gray tanks I think you need them inside the van. Heating pads could work maybe but it can get really cold (-8 in west Yellowstone for us)
@Scrambler853 жыл бұрын
Great video and a close call on the tank. The snow boarding looks like a blast. Freezing tanks have been a concern from the beginning of my planning. So I ordered three 12 volt heating pads, one for my under mount gray tank, one for my batteries and one for the water tank. I copied and pasted the Amazon description below. I ordered them with the 3 switch panel so I can control when they run. I figured heat the water when the solar panels are finished charging the batteries and use the panels to heat the water. Description 7 1/4" x 25" Heater Pad 12V For Fresh, Grey, or Waste Water Holding Tanks Features & details Peel and stick adhesive back attaches easily to most tanks Activates when water temps drop below 45F(5C) and heats to 68F(20C) Helps maintain flowing water in freezing temperatures Manufactured by Genesis Lighting under Patent No.: US10257888B2

Smart!!! Make sure you have no p traps underneath the van as well or they will freeze as well (learned the hard way)
@Scrambler853 жыл бұрын
@@MathersOnTheMap you can pour some windshield washer fluid into your grey tank, it has enough alcohol in it to keep it from freezing and its cheap at Walmart or any auto parts store. Plus it's good for the windshield.

Your adventures keep bringing back memories of my skiing days (80’s-90’s). The only time I ever went to Vail was with my then-teenaged son. There were so many lifts that we wondered if it would be possible to go up all the lifts in a single day (assuming few or no lines). Nope - not possible. Vail’s back bowl is outrageous.
