I was watching closely your slow-mo block starts and couldn't help but to wonder, how do you not hit your calves coming out of the blocks?? Like they are so massive :) Awesome video, great quality shots. From this videos we can study one of the best techniques in the start and in the upright running positions

Do you ever run any distance runs like a couple miles a few times a week? Is there any value in putting in any mileage training for sprint's in your opinion?
@hovejoha
@hovejoha 3 жыл бұрын
I don't. I don't think there is any value in it if you're interested in improving 100-200m times. I do train endurance once per week through the winter with about 6-8x easy 270m though. About 2 minutes break. Also I might run 10x100m very easy some days. If you're young I think it is good to build up a generally healthy endurance, but it won't build speed.

@@hovejoha thanks. I m older now but used to sprint competitively. My coach used to have us do 2 to 3 miles before our sprint workouts. I was always thinking why are we doing this and I hate it. Lol

At 12:54 it looks like your toes don't make any contant with the blocks, why exactly do you do that? I was always told that your toes should toch either the ground or the blocks.
@hovejoha
@hovejoha 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think the toes should contact the block. I was just testing to over emphasize the push from the back foot to push more from the hips instead of just the quads.
@SkinnyLegs
@SkinnyLegs 3 жыл бұрын
I still don't understand, why do you need to drag the right foot when coming out of blocks? I've seen other sprinters doing it, but I don't understand why.

You don’t have to, but your supposed to have a low heel recovery so they drag their foot as a result

I know nothing about sprinting but IMO you need to have a better reaction time on the floor and let the floor push you. Every exercice you do will not make you run under 10 secondes ; the power you use is not enough to run fast!
