The first bend is what set him up to write this whole solo. Once he figured out thats where he wanted to start, the rest probably came "fairly" easy. It sets the entire mood/emotion he was going for. Sad But True also starts with a nasty bend and its one of my favorite solos as well.

Esse é o trabalho de um produtor musical, Bob Rock não largou do pé do Kirk enquanto não tirou dele o solo perfeito para música, quando ele não estava inspirado, fez ele buscar a inspiração

It just shows what a good producer BR is. This take isn't the final take, but it was a great first attempt at it. I'd love to see the process they went through to get that final take that's on the record.

Such a talent, i miss theese kind of epic solos he created back then, cause now its all about improvisation, meaning no more epic solos. Bob was right. You have to eat, sleep and breathe the solo to make it epic.

If there was ever a 5th member of Metallica at any time in the band's history even temporarily, it was Bob Rock working for the first time with Metallica. There's a reason that this album is just as strong today as it was 32 years ago and in 32 years it will still be strong. He showed them the value of having a producer.

Bob paid off his mortgages with Kirk's tears. So give it to the producer for pushing the artist into that desperate creative realm. It's harsh but works.

I'm so glad I saw this. Voodoo Child SR is my favorite guitar song ever, but Kirk's solo in Unforgiven is my favorite guitar solo ever. It's one of those pieces of music that, it's as if it already existed in the Universe, and the artist was able to capture it accurately. Not one note, not one bend, not one chord should be different. He got all of it right. This solo reminds me of 2112, the song as well as the album, in its anger and frustration, and in its chip on the proverbial shoulder.
