The end of The Matrix Revolutions the hue lifted when the matrix reset. It was raining and everything was destroyed and then you saw the cat, the matrix glitched and then it was sunny and beautiful, with no green hue.

Alternately, the green hue in the early films could be a reference to the green screens of early computer machines (IBM, Apple). Fast forward to today, look no more green screens (unless you want it).

The Fourth version of the Matrix was reformed due to Neo's sacrifice of pure Love, this Love was thus mathematically integrated by the machines in the subsequent reboot. The Green tint is symbolic of the absence of true love which Neo found in Trinity and ultimately introduced to the entire system through the Smiths. This was Oracle's hope: that Love in its purest form could be brought into the system and a more compassionate Matrix be built, which happened but it became warped by the Analyst whose actions caused the Gold tint to then become more pronounced in M4. At the end of Revolutions, we see Sati has introduced the Sun to bring these new colours to the Matrix. But when she's exiled in M4 the Gold tint is now obnoxious and overkill. The Analyst has ruined the Matrix Neo, Oracle and Sati helped build. He used this Love solution as a weapon against his peers to gain power. He realised he could create a division in the Source to create a power vacuum and then get energy directly from the Matrix itself rather than the Real World. The new Analyst Matrix has now veered the total opposite direction, it's all about manipulating people's emotions and preferences rather than hiding any Truth. But at the end of Matrix three we see what the Matrix should have been: our world of naturalistic colours and green gardens. Thanks to the compassion of Neo.

My question is why blame the bots? When we should be blaming human greed for moving us into that type of future. Capitalism= expectation of financial greed, having more that you could possibly need, and remaining disconnected from our bond to each other and the Earth.

Capitalism is the mere equation of demand vs offer and who has the capacity to resolve the demand, greed has nothing to do with capitalism, greed is a characteristic of humans. It literally doesn't matter who owns the resources, some group of people (business-owners/capitalism) or some other group of elitist people (government/communism/socialism). No one is blaming the bots, the bots are just a symptom of the fact that a specific group of humans has too much power, and they have more bots, and you can't have bots (yet). But you're right, we should be blaming human greed. Better yet, we should design a system resilient to that, but neither system we ever had accounted for this specific human feature. To the contrary, those systems were based on human greed. (and don't come saying that communism doesn't do it either, it does, and its even worse, its a system based on pure power of the State, which is totally worse)

The Matrix franchise is not the only time in theater that the idea of a simulation has been brought up. Dark City and 13th Floor look at the idea of created societies, albeit one by aliens (called Strangers) and the other a computer simulation created by scientist, only find his world was also a simulation.

Great video, but there is one problem. The system all around us works too hard on us, for us to be in "pods." If we are in pods, then they are 100% in control. They "try too hard" to be in total control. They work too hard to carry forth daily manipulation. They demonstrate they are not in total control. Yes, this world is a fluid "sim" of sorts, but it's not as dark as the Matrix presents with "real people" in pods. Perhaps that is "their" aim for the future, but it does not exist now.

The Matrix movies always were a metaphor for our real world, but inside the matrix universe, our world is IO and the matrix was built after "the peak of (y)our civilisation". Now, in-universe 60 years later, the matrix has improved and like we don't look at greenscreen monitors anymore (like in the early days of home computers), the machines gave the matrix more colours in their current version of the matrix graphics engine. Also, the too-green tint and artificial construct of te Megacity could have put to many people off (if only subconciously) and the new matrix created with more realism ( in colour and assets) may have proven to be more effective. Since the Matrix Movies are a commentary on our real world, of course there are things inside it that are copied from our real world. Just like a real matrix world would be influenced by copies from the real world. but that does not assert or rule out that the in-film matrix is supposed to BE our real world. After all, the Matrix is set to happen hundreds of years in the future of our now-real world. But still the message is clear: whether we live in a matrix or not, we are slaves. We were born into bondage, born inside a prison that we cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for our minds. Free your mind.

Well if this is a simulation, that would explain why Matrix 4 didn't do as well as its predecessors. Then again, if WB had waited until 2022 to release, would that made much of a difference? Or, instead made it a streaming series, that comments on the making of a streaming series? Whose to say? But the topics chosen might have something to do with Lana's experience with Warner Bros. and she might told a story within the story. Matrix Explained is suggesting our world is just another simulation in The Matrix franchise now and we’ve yet to see the real world of their story... or our own. And it makes perfect sense.
