My family is Polish and Ukrainian and my family not only did not own slaves but was lucky to even be here and escape violence in Europe during the first and second world war and so families like mine are being held accountable for the elites years ago when we are suffering right along with black families. For example I have a friend that is native American and from his perspective he doesn't like the federal government because of all the artrocies they committed against Indian people, and likewise my family is grateful to the Federal government for allowing us entry to America and escape genocide from Stalin and Hitler, black families also have a complicated relationship as well, but to your point yes hold each person accountable for their actions.

As soon as all of ty black people get paid what is due to them since they never lived in slavery and their great-great-grandparents did so. It's up to all of the people that has never owned slaves to pay for the people that has never been a slave. I think then will be a happy Nation. There's no way that anything else could come up to cause any issues after that

I am the grandson of a Chinese immigrant. My grandfather married a white woman. My grandfather came to this country as a refugee from war. His brother was killed, and he was the only one out of the whole family who understood any form of English. He had to help both his parents and his sisters. He married my grandmother, whose parents were deeply racist and disowned my grandmother for marrying her husband. My mother and Uncle grew up so goddamn poor that my mother has to start working when she wasn't even 10 years old. My father was the the youngest of 9 children. He was an Irish-American Catholic whose father was an extremely violent alcoholic who almost beat my father to death and left him in a ditch when he tried to protect his sisters from him. His older brothers joined the military as soon as they could and my Uncles Tommy and George served in Vietnam. They carried the horrors of Vietnam with them until the end of their lives. My father was eventually thrown out of the house at 15. He too eventually ended up in the army. He was deployed everywhere from Iraq to Afghanistan. He came back with extreme PTSD and crippling alcoholism. He and my mother divorced when I was 8. My step-father was himself the son of Dutch immigrants, his parents and grandparents helped smuggle Jews out of the Netherlands during WWII and the Holocaust. My step-great-grandfather was arrested and tortured for this act. And members of his family ended up in concentration camps for other acts of resistance against the Nazis. After coming here, my step-grandfather and my step-father became very involved in the church. They traveled the world and did charity and mission work wherever they could. So, after all of this. In all this suffering and in all this toil, where is my supposed white privilege? Am I personally privileged? Oh yes, but not by my fucking skin color but by the blood and sweat of those who came before me. My mother worked so that her children would not be poor, and my father made sure that even when he descended into the worst of his alcoholism, he would still have something left to give to his two boys. My stepfather worked hard to help and love my mother and her sons. He raised my brother and I and shaped us into the men we became. I will not be guilty for something that someone somewhere tells me I ought to be guilty for.
