Awesome! Sara Lee on bass, and the late great Robert Quine tearing it up on the guitar. The guitar work by Quine (and Richard Lloyd) on both the albums "Girlfriend," and "Altered Beast" were the perfect compliment to Sweet's songs during this period. Quine, a self-admitted curmudgeon by nature, and perhaps the most unassuming looking guitar god of his generation, produced a unique sound almost akin to a whipping steel cable that was as soulful as it was powerful. He's missed.

Robert Quine. R.I.P. that studio solo on "Girlfriend" is a one of the best ever. Perfectly timed and matched to the song. I cannot tell from the video if it was intentional but his leads are drowned out by the wall of rhythm from the other guitars. I heard there was some tensions between he and Sweet. With Reed as well.

Wait...is that Pat Mastelletto playing drums? He played with Mr Mister back in the 80's, and with King Crimson from 1995-2005 or so. As for Quine's guitar being drowned out, I think it's partially because of the low volume level here. I've got my volume control maxed out. If the actual output level was higher, you'd be able to hear him better. Also, I think the show's sound guy probably had Quine potted down in the mix, as they say. Probably not used to mixing rock music.

The guitarist was the OTHER guitarist from the Voidoids, Ivan Julian. I never saw Quine. Saw Lou Reed immediately after his final break with Quine. So I just missed him a couple of times. I did see Richard Lloyd twice with Television. Sadly his string broke during the final encore of "Marquee Moon" w/o a backup guitar. Verlaine played solo. Odd ending.
