One of the prettiest tunes from one of the best albums too few know of. Matthew Sweet’s “Girlfriend” is a rock n’ roll classic.

The perfect antidote to pop, metal and rap, real alt rock of the 90’s. Matthew Sweet - “I’ve Been Waiting” truly stands the test of time.

Just remembered why Girlfriend was one of my favorite albums of the 90's.

Anyone here for Matthew Sweet? :)

Just heard the news about Matthew, made me very sad. This song and the Girlfriend LP uplifted me in my younger days. Very few musicians get it "right" and create timeless art, all try to pursue this fleeting zone of creativity - Matthew found it with that record!

If you don't get how completely awesome this clip is, you are beyond help, frankly.

The great Matthew Sweet and the late great Robert Quine. Let see Quine has played with the Voidoids, Lou Reed, Lloyd Cole and Matthew Sweet -- that is some resume.
@recordplayr10 жыл бұрын
Is he the one who played on Lou Reed's Rock n Roll Animal? The intro for Sweet Jane? If that's him he's awesome. And he's great here too.

This clip reminds me what live music sounds like...back in the good ol' days when there were real artists, confident enough in their talent to play live.

This is cool, the great Robert Quinne on guitar. Too bad the sound people screwed up and had his guitar turned down in the mix to where you could hardly hear it.

That's not Peter Holsapple, It's Murray Attaway who was in the Athens band Guadalcanal Diary. They probably met in Athens where Sweet lived for a short while - and was briefly in a band, Oh-Ok, with Linda Stipe, sister of Michael. That info and $1.93 will get you a small coffee.

Well, Sweet did "attend" UGA in Athens. He might have been the only person in the history of the Honors Program to post a 0.00 GPA after his first semester.

Weird. Just saw this and thought exact same thing. Peter holsapple. 80's/90's jangle pop still the sh*t. Although i must admit db's not as good on re listen visits 30 years later. Didnt quite hold up as well as other imo. Love Miller's radio show now.

I had Peter Holsapple comment on the “Girlfriend” clip from the same show where I suggested in the comments it was he on guitar, that it most assuredly was not him and it was Murray Attaway.

So many good bands got passed over in the 90’s. The Fly’s? They had success and they sucked.

The only good thing about this insipid show belonging to the insipid Denrod Mula is that his producers booked good acts. But as we all know his insipidness got the show cancelled. Maybe if it was 60 minutes of music he would still be relevant stooge
