ASUS could have made a really fantastic convertible with the 13 inch all rounded only if it had a better refresh rate. They could have done 120, 90, 75? I dont know, 60hz is not justified in 2024. Atleast I dont see a convertible in the market that packs a good GPU like this and has a high refresh rate, Maybe its hard to get high refresh rate OLED screens? I believe there are a lot of mac users out there who do want to carry a 2nd device for gaming and something like this with heigher refresh rate will check all boxes.

So if I wanted to run a LLM AI on the p16 and I wanted to increase the ram I can do that?
@leonardwise58072 ай бұрын
I have the P16 and it is a great laptop. That 4k oled is fantastic and color accurate and supports touch. It's performance is next level and has a great selection of ports. The matt black coating is the least fingerprint magnet coating you can currently get and looks great. It has an excellent keybord and one of the best non haptic trackpads you will find. It runs very cool for a 4060 and fan noise is very tolerable. It's speakers are excellent and it's pricing at 1899 is exceptional. Looking at you Dell XPS, Samsung book ultra even Mac Book Pro. As for ram you get fast ddr5x at 32 gigs standard and can upgrade to 64. It's only flaws is it should be haptic and 120 htz. If you need it get the g16, but you will go from 4k to 2.5 k and lose the dial pad and the discrete looks. Even the MacBook Pro has it's faults, no oled,the notch.no type A ports, no wifi 7 and is very expensive to get 32 gigs of ram and 1tb storage and you cant game on it. Sometimes you need to look at the overall package. Good review Matthew and I agree the PX13 is a feat of engineering. If you change the settings to whisper mode you will achieve much better battery life on most operations.

I appreciate that even in your sponsored videos, you call out the laptops' weaknesses. The lack of 120hz as an option is unforgivable. So a "creator" doesn't do research on the internet and isn't scrolling constantly? Even if he or she isn't gaming, anyone paying this much for a laptop with these components, who will likely hold onto the device for multiple years, should be able to choose a panel as good as the G14 or G16 has. Almost everything else is so great, especially about the P16. You get full 100w to the 4070. You get this awesome new processor from AMD. You get a properly cooled system in a compact design, that is light weight, with a great webcam and with good battery life. You even get all the ports. It's just -- you have a sub-400 nit display that has the same refresh rate as the original iPhone released in 2007.....
@MatthewMoniz2 ай бұрын
You're welcome and I totally agree it should have a 120hz panel at the very least. Hopefully ASUS makes the change for the next iteration. AS for the OLED display there's not too many super bright OLED displays on 16inch laptops YET. It requires a bit more power and with it comes more heat. They would have to do a tandem oled display to make it happen and probably not that accessible for ASUS at the moment.

I think youre right especially if you consider the pricepoint. Only reason i didnt go with Asus is i got a Lenovo 7i and it has 2 nvme slots Asus have nice laptops but all of them only have one nvme slot

@@markaznar1979 nonsense. The Creator laptops are notorious for being more expensive. It would be absurd for them to not have high refresh rates either. Besides, the constant reliance on a monitor also takes away from its portability.

I compared the P16 to the Yoga Pro 91 with the higher 165hz reffresh rate watching a tennis match and I thoughty the ASUS was actually better and less choppy. Go figure. And if you have an external monitor with a higher refresh rate then why not use that set up and it moots the 60 hz refresh rate.

I returned the PX13 I found the performance using Lightroom Classic was very poor. Benchmarks are meaningless it comes down to how well your mostly used apps run

Ya i wish it had 120hz but I guess you can always just buy the ZEphyrus G16 instead if you dont need a dialpad. Its pretty much the same laptop.

@MatthewMoniz the G16 design is absolutely the best, but with a 125W 4080, core ultra chip, and a massive price tag, I just can't, Matt. I'm currently waiting to see if the new AMD chips will be in the legion 7 line up this year or confirmation that the 14900hx is not affected by the overvolatge fiasco. It feels like legion 7, 7i, or 9i are the only choices this year.

I think these manufacturers deliberately try to limit the functions in all of their laptops so that people buy other models as well. what a stupid way to increase the sale. Its off putting. Just make one good laptop which has everything and customers wont go anywhere else. I like the design as compared to 2023 model but refresh rate, no finger print and no upgradable ram.
