What's is the ridge indicative of? I got some of that action on a couple bells. I maintain my Max Torque clutches regularly. I'm guessing it has something with me being a bit of a chubber😒.

What kind of sand paper did you use I know it’s a 120 grit but did you use a auto body 120 grit or a metel 120 ?

I have a ct200u-ex with a vm22 and package of jets. I have a 120 jet in it now with needle clip in the middle. It runs great with air filter off but bogges really bad with it on. Elevation is 512 here in tx. Any idea which way to go? Thx for any help.

Hi Robert, We have bushings for some of the clutches here. I would need to know what brand of clutch and the diameter of the crankshaft the clutch goes on. You can send me pics if you are not sure. Please let me know and I will do my best to help you

i just put a predator 212 on my niece's mini.. the clutch engages so hard that it's a dangerous wheelie machine now. the clutch is older, could that be an issue? i would like it to "roll" though the throttle rather than feel like a shot of nitrous..
@koollee
@koollee Жыл бұрын
You can turn the throttle limiting screw down but it will limit the full throttle til she gets used to it. Its on the throttle adapter plate.. philps head screw with a spring on it. If u just have a stock clutch and its doing that, its because that engine is too strong for her and likely u have a big sprocket. If u go smaller sprocket.. the bike cud be too fast for her (so u really want to limit the throttle as i mentioned already)...... but u will have an easier take off

I have a new clutch that slips right out of the box, I can't figure out why because it's happening with 2 new ones. Also I have a new predator motor now and same slipping. Not engaging hard, it's scrapes and slips until up to a higher speed. Any thoughts would be great to hear. Cheers

I would always evaluate the gearing choice first. We do not recommend centrifugal clutches on a vehicle with tires over 14" in height. Every clutch manufacturer likes to see a 6:1 ratio between the clutch and axle sprocket. For example, a 12 tooth clutch to a 72 tooth rear sprocket.

Seems like wd-40 is counter intuitive on the bell?

So, just a couple drops of oil on the bushing, and clean with wd-40 is all the maintenance we need on these?

Yes. It does not take much to keep these working well for years!

If you get a clutch that uses a bronze bushing, it is always a good idea to add a couple of drops of non-synthetic oil to the bushing. It cannot hurt and can only help. The bushings are oiled at the factory, but why chance it? Oil that clutch after every 2 hours of normal use with a couple of drops of oil. If you are getting a needle bearing clutch, always check to see if the proper amount of grease is in the bearings

What 30 weight oil should I use for my Max Torque clutch? Name and brand would be kindly appreciated. Thank you.

I use whatever 30 wt or 10/30 wt I have laying around. It does not matter what brand you use as long as it is not synthetic oil!

Why use oil and not high temp grease??
@ericadams8099
@ericadams8099 4 жыл бұрын
The bronze bushing absorbs oil and slowly releases it as the clutch warms up. This needs to be done every 2 hours of use. When the clutch is warm you can add 2 drops of non-synthetic oil right by the snap ring and the bushing will pull the oil in. If you wanted to run grease in that, it will not be absorbed into the bushing and the pressure of the bushing on the hub will force the grease out leaving the bushing dry.

Why shouldn't you clean the drum with brake clean? I services my clutch a couple days ago and used brake clean on it. I did oil the bushing afterward
@TheGrayGoatGarage
@TheGrayGoatGarage 5 жыл бұрын
We do that as a precaution for the people that don't pull the clutch apart. It will strip all the oil from the bushing and not allow it to soak up more. We use WD40 and wipe it down. Any residual will burn off. As long as there was no bushing in what you sprayed it will probably be fine!

@@TheGrayGoatGarage If we pull the clutch apart, is it better to use brake clean or is WD40 just as good?
@TheGrayGoatGarage

David Leonard brake cleaner will strip all of the oil from the bushing and it may not recover from that. I only use wd40. Why risk ruining a clutch?

@@TheGrayGoatGarage Spray a rag with the brake clean and wipe it out. It won't get on the bushing as long as you don't spray the whole drum down with it.

I use regular 30 weight motor oil. You can use just about any motor oil as long as it is not synthetic. Synthetic oil can leach into the metal.

But WD40 is a lubricant. Why not just spray Brake Kleen on a rag and wipe it out so as not to get it on the bushing?
@TheGrayGoatGarage
@TheGrayGoatGarage 3 жыл бұрын
That will work as well. We just can’t get brake/carb cleaner on the bronze. The WD in WD40 stands for “water displacement “. It is a solvent more than a lubricant

Dumb question but why add a friction reduction product to the drum ?
@TheGrayGoatGarage
@TheGrayGoatGarage Жыл бұрын
We are not oiling the drum, only the bronze busing. We do not want any oil on the drum. We only want to use regular motor oil on the bushing. Any synthetic oil can leach into the metal and reduce the friction. I clean the drum with WD40 as that is a solvent and not a lubricant. It burns off quickly when the clutch is used
