I spent most of my 11 year Air Force career working as a crew chief on A-10's. I even helped rebuild the display at DM's front gate. I was stationed at Woodbridge, Suwon and also Davis Monthan. The detail and accuracy you create is amazing!!! The A-10 was a blast to work on and inspect every day, you make this process seem so enjoyable as well. I will be using your tutorial to create my own model to relive past memories. Older planes did not have formation lights, I believe we started getting them in the late 80's? Thank you!

Thanks for the added info about Capt. Button. I was living in Sedona AZ and was standing outside my work on Feb.9, 1985 in the morning when two A-10s flew into Oak Creek Canyon just north of Sedona. One A-10 crashed into the wall of the canyon killing the pilot. The they were on a low level training flight (in a rainstorm) flying from Williams Air Force Base to Davis -Monthan AFB. The pilot was identified as Capt. Stephen P. Bowden, of the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, S.C. Excellent job on the model & the paint job. I've built the Tamiya kit and the Revell kit of the A-10 (did not re-scribe any panel lines). I have to admit that I like the Revell kit a bit more than the Tamiya kit. Hi Tye, you can use a scribe or a mini saw blade that will turn those panel lines into depressions instead of having raised panel lines on this A-10 kit. In this case, I used a Tamiya photo etch fine craft saw. You can lay a piece of plastic embossing tape used for lettering as a straight edge guide on the model. For part II of your question: If you look at step #9 on your instruction manual there is a better view of how C4 is supposed to sit on the landing gear parts, in particular the left man gear in this instance. Hope this all helps.

Fun fact, the inboard launcher rails on stations 3 and 9 were not used long. The firing of the AGM-65 would melt the rubber of the landing gear wheel. Do you also make tank models? If you are ever into cartoony models too, check out “World War Toons” tank kits from Meng.

They're not retiring the A-10 anytime soon, the marines and the USarmy have shown interest in buying upgraded block units (for obvious CAS reasons)

Love your work, very professional build. And your video presentation is easy to watch. I learned a lot from your videos. A good content for military modelling, makes me want to start one! Thanks for sharing!

Two thumbs up for the camera work, lighting and audio. Sad to think the Warthog is on the chopping block.

I am in the process of building this particular model and it is a huge pain. From the raised panel lines to the misfitting parts, there is a lot of body work to be had. I’m surprised that you didn’t mention any of this because it would be extremely obvious if the seams were not taken care of.

Thanks stuco81, scribing over old style raised panel lines is not so fun! :-P

Ive still not got to grips with scribing, full stop. 😄

Hi Tom, this kit is far older than you thought at the time of the video. The tooling is from 1977. Makes it a senior citizen in modelling terms. :)

Hi Stephen, definitely older than I would have even guessed! The time of the original Star Wars opening... 😮
