As someone who wants to become a mechanic in the future, or a car enthusiast youtuber, this video helps with a lot of the researching for accessories. It also helped a lot with understanding how the lift works. Thank you, you deserve all the praise for making this.

Good informative video. I would definitely be interested in how you calculate the width between posts. My volvo v70 wagon is 6 feet wide side to side. Anyway, I just ordered the M7K lift, $3600 at lowes, $80 delivery fee to drop it in the driveway. Lowes is 100 miles from me so its a no brainer. it will be here by May 15. woohoo, can't wait. Everywhere else it sells for $4K+. Lowes has a sale $491 discounted. REplaced a 10x13 foot area with 4K psi concrete and 1/2 inch rebar. 7 inches deep at the lift base area, over engineered but I don't want to be worried. I can sell my ramps now.

My spacing has worked great for me (listed in the description). I would position the posts at about that, then pull in your largest vehicle and your smallest vehicle and see if the lifting pads all work well at that spacing. If they do, install the posts in that exact spot.

@@bennieaust i used the lift today, its fine but tight getting out the drivers door. one thing i immediately notice is its a pain picking tools off the floor so i'm getting a small utlility cart and cutting it down to coffee table height. i ordered a reclining seat creeper. ($240 amazon). i spent all day under my car, i guess i like it.

@@gerardjones7881that’s a good idea for a tool cart. I’m sure it will take a little getting used to but I’m sure you will be happy you have it. It makes just about everything easier.

Excellent video. I just purchased a MaxJax lift, and am trying to figure out my spacing for the posts. I'm will be lifting vehicles from a Toyota Prius C to Chrysler Town and Country minivan, and possibly a 1/2 ton pickup. Could you please tell me what your posts are spaced apart from inside bottom plate to inside bottom plate? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
@bennieaust Жыл бұрын
Hey Curtis, The posts are 101” between the bottom plates. I don’t think I’d change a thing if I were to do it over. The support arms have been fully extended out to lift the last generation of Ford Ranger (very narrow frames), and as short as possible to lift C5 and C6 corvettes. Not exactly what you might have guessed. It can be a bit tight getting in and out of the drivers door on some of the wider vehicles, but like I said, I don’t think I’d change it. The Prius C will be easy. Great lifting points right along the outer edge. The Town and Country won’t be difficult either but you will have the arms extended fairly far to accommodate it. The lifting points are far apart.

With the Max Jax M6K rated at 6000 pounds, would it lift securely a mini van Chrysler Town and Country rated at 6050 pounds gross weight safely? or do I need to get the newer M7K rated at 7000 pounds? there is a huge price difference between the two now, I can find the M6K for $1300 with extras in few online shops selling it but the cheapest M7K is at home depot or lowes at $3300, $3700 out the door!
@bennieaust7 ай бұрын
those are some really good prices on the M6K! You will have no issues lifting the Town and Country. The gross weight is much more than the actual "curb" weight of the van.
@fireyourrocketts7 ай бұрын
@@bennieaust Yeah I investigated deeper, called said companies everything is a scam they dont even know the prices are online with their legit names, things have gotten really out of control with robbers these days and nobody does shit about it, one is lucky enough not to fall into their traps and that is about it, O ended up having to pay for the M7K home depot special sale price of $3629 out the door, also got the ergo chair discounted as well around $469 out the door with these 2 most important tools I am set back at $4100 but still is less than the whole lift price today at regular price, thing is they are going to increase the prices in 2 weeks one rep from Max Jax told me

Whats your opinion on a full lift vs this? Worth the difference? Multiple car household with do it yourself maintenance and once in a while a friends car/truck.

This has been a great lift, but if you have the space I’d get a full size.

Would definitely be interested in a 4 vs 2 post video. Been trying to decide between 4 post + lift accessories to work on wheels / brakes but a 2 post is just so much simpler (but maybe less safe?). Not to mention the smaller footprint of a 2 post.

Thanks for the comment. I’ve had the 4 post for about 5 years, and it’s gotten a lot of use too, so I can definitely make some good recommendations. I’ll get going on a video!

@@davebuchanan9761 I didn't realize F150s were getting so heavy. Double check and make sure you looked up curb weight and not gross weight. I'd definitely recommend getting a lift with a rating that exceeds the weight of your truck.

Would a hydraulic lift cart be better suited to remove a RWD transmission than a traditional transmission jack in this scenario?
@bennieaust Жыл бұрын
Probably, that's what I use from FWD transmissions on this lift. With RWD transmissions I use the 4 post lift and a standard transmission jack so I've never tried a RWD trans on this lift with a hydraulic cart.

Yeah. What are the measurements at the bolts between the lifts? Can you give those for a good baseline for us?

My 8yr old maxjax just sprung a leak on one tower and dropped the vehicle pretty quick, thankfully I had it in a low lift position below the first peg and was about to put jackstands under each lift arm. If I had it in the upper position it could have dropped the car and the result would have likely totalled my 2010 grand cherokee. This is after 8 solid yrs of having 0 issues.
