This is the type of video that I like. Nothing against tutorials covering whole projects in 15m videos, but there's something inherently reassuring in having 1h of info just for ONE Wheel. Screams information dump (in a good way)

Great video! I’m doing research as much as I can to get into the 3D world and wanting to make scale parts. Video was definitely helpful. I liked the longer video and watched it entirely. I think it helps a lot of visual learners. I would like to see a simple 5 spoke design video and more in depth of designing. Maybe a short video series of multiple videos so one video isn’t super long

Nice video, I like the way that you pay attention to details such as the slight curvature that the wheels take, however I have to mention that it is also possible to extrude first and give the curvature later using the lattice deform

Wonderful tutorial. I'm a first year student and performing the procedure as i go along. I must say i highly appreciate the speed at which you record, allowing for clear direction and description of said task. I'm so happy i've found your channel and its truely a privilege to be able to watch this content on KZbin. I love following along and hopefully ill make this kick ass wheel! :)

Awesome tutorial, really very-very good! One thing to add as constructive criticism, if you don't mind: I think the sensitivity of your mic is a bit too low and sometimes cuts out the audio. More real-time stuff, definitely!!
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
Thank you and I always appreciate constructive criticism. I didn't realize the audio issues until after I uploaded. The mic shifted while recording so that's why the audio drops in an out on occasion. I've made sure to triple check everything on future videos. Thanks again for the feedback!

When I try to merge my five spokes together after doing the radial symmetry, the verts are trying to merge together on the centre line. My distance threshold is 0.001 and still it's happening. I have a feeling It's something to do with the instance setting from when I mirrored, but I don't know how to fix it or should I just re-mirror again using copy instead of instanced Thanks
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
When you are ready to merge vertices, you have to make sure it's a copy and then combined into one mesh.

Hey great video, thanks for it. Just have a question. I am coming from blender background and i wanted to know one important thing. How do you workaround the lack of modifiers system in maya like 3ds max or blender. I mean as far as i am concerned how do people model fast in Maya without non-destructive workflow? I have heard that maya is the best one for animation and rigging but it lacks in modelling tools, is there a way to have a plugin even bought that can give you modifier stack?
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, there is no modifier stack equivalent in Maya. I've modeled in Maya, 3ds Max, and now Blender but the one thing Maya could use is modifier stacks. I've just gotten in the habit of duplicating my mesh at certain parts of my modeling process but that doesn't help the non-destructive part. I'd say Maya "feels" better when modeling organic objects.

Hey bro appreciate the tutorial, I am learning via experts on YT to draw shapes in Maya. And its my first time using quad draw tool. I did all the prerequisites as you shown here but after clicking shift+LMB the geometry thus formed is not shown as is shown in your case. But as I hover over the geometry which was is formed by sheer luck it shows its shape by highlighting it in red. I want the work flow just like you. So do you happen to know/any idea where the problem might be?
@OnMars3D3 жыл бұрын
Did you make sure to set a live surface? You can use a plane or if you don't use any geometry, it will just snap to the origin.

*OH MY GOD MAN...* Just type the 21" into the box and Maya will convert it automatically. That's like 1984 technology.
@OnMars3D Жыл бұрын
I know that works in 3DS Max, but when you type in 21" in the Maya channel box, scale, etc, it does nothing. Can you clarify what you mean because this would be a nice tip to know if it works?
@dph9885 Жыл бұрын
Are you maybe thinking about 3DSMAX, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Fusion 360 etc? This isn't a thing in Maya 2023 Update 2. The symbol doesn't even appear in the box when you type it.
@cadtrev Жыл бұрын
Road wheels are plus an inch and a half so that 21" wheel is really a 22.5" diameter...
@OnMars3D Жыл бұрын
I model the rim separate of the tire. I cover the tire modeling in another which includes the rest of the wheel diameter.
