Astonishing video as always, at first i wasn't really into watching such relationship experts video, but it turned out to be a blessing in so many ways, 10 years ago i was with a narcissist and i broke things up 4 years ago, found someone who truly cared for me and i messed things up because i was trauma bonded. then i started watching a lot of you tube videos and some Christian videos about relationships and marriages, i learnt a lot, and something actually happened as well, i was able to get my ex back with the help of watching Matthew Hussey and Courtney Ryan videos and reaching out to a spiritual counselor.

I'm a junkie for listening to podcasts like theses and have done years of therapy and read tons of books, so coming from lots of experience, Mayim and Mel have just made one the best podcast. Mind blowing, they covered so much but in such a way that was easy to understand. I think everyone can relate because we are all humans who struggle with emotions and relationships, no one is perfect! Watching this made feel like I'm not crazy, and I'm not alone and it gave me hope. I plan on watching it again and taking notes. Plus downloading Mel's new book.

You all have some good, salient insights and I thank you for sharing them. I would offer differing viewpoints about two subjects: the “silent treatment” and that ‘narcissistic people are not born that way.’ Mel speaks of the silent treatment coming from emotionally-immature people who use it to punish others with whom they choose not to have a mature, adult conversation. From my own perspective, I will say that some (usually intense) conversations have such a deep effect on me that I require extra time to process my thoughts & emotions. In those times, I withdraw to give myself that time. That said, I have to leave room that unconsciously there may be other things at play, but consciously I am withdrawing to honor my thought process. In regards the statement that ‘narcissistic people are not born that way, they likely sustained trauma in childhood’, Dr. Peter Salerno states compelling research that in fact narcissists ARE born wired differently. I would encourage people to listen to his research - and that of other credentialed professionals - that over the past decade have disproved that formerly-accepted theory.

Sometimes cutting someone off without explanation is necessary when the person that you are cutting off has shown countless times that they don’t care about you. Them having the belief that they can treat you however they want and be deliberate in disrespecting your boundaries. So having that hard conversation would not do any good.

I'm not dyslexic, but I definitely have undiagnosed adhd. I only very recently figured out "what has been wrong with me", my whole life. How I made it through high school with great grades was also talking. I was really good at convincing my teachers to allow me to do projects as opposed to taking tests 😅 so I could be creative and it was something I then wanted to do, and I could show that I knew the information. It's literally the only reason I made it through school. I also have no childhood memories..I thought it was only me.. thank you for sharing. I now know I'm not alone in that. .. at first, I thought it was normal but as I got older, I figured out it wasn't normal.. and began to feel alone in it.
