I just discovered this issue this afternoon. Turns out the sock went under the collum and got stuck in the drain pipe. Thanks! Ours was a small cord (2 sections only about 3 inches long with a knot in it) torn from the string of a fine washables bag. It must have been positioned just right to block the spinning of the impeller from turning. I tipped it up and moved the belt to the pump, then used my camera feature on my phone to find it and needle nosed pliers to remove it. Thanks again!!

Thank you this was very helpful in had a sock stuck in the hose just before the pump. I felt along the hose and felt it was more "squishy" in one part then the other. Just had a pan ready for the water and quickly replaced the hose once the sock was removed

Life saver. Thank you. Was not a sock for me but was some string that clumped up and clogged the impeller :) also the belt was creating a nasty smell too as the drum spun and the impeller didn’t. Good idea to change belts when this happens.

Oldie but goodie! (both the video and these vintage Maytag), my sock was stuck at the top by the tub outlet hose. Did not make it down to the pump yet. Would not drain fast enough, always about 3" of water in the tube. Once it drain, it can spin at full speed! I was going to replace the motor thinking that it was weak, but these motor either work or don't. Thank you.

Many thanks for the tutorial! About a year ago the bleach nipple was leaking and badly corroded. I cut the rusted barb off leaving about ¾" and plugged it with an epoxy filled rubber stool leg cap. A few months ago, I noticed my clothes didn't smell fresh and were pretty wet coming out of the washer. I found your video and when I removed the hose, I found a chunk of epoxy was partially blocking the pump. The leak repair is still holding and the washer now drains as it should. Thanks again!!

My MVWB765FW stops on the wash cycle. I have to shut it off to pump out the soapy water.. then go to spn and drain..then use "quick wash cycle as a rinse cycle.. and sometimes again go to spin drain to end the washing of my clothes. This is only a 2 year old Maytag and this has been going on for months. I unplug it to reset the program but that does not work all the time either. This keeps coming back to haunt me. Is my board fried? I had a fried furnace board last December from a quick power outage where the power went off and in seconds went back on again. I had to replace my furnace board to fix that issue and this washer has been acting up since then too. The lid switch seems to be working ok because the lid cannot be lifted unless the machine is shut off. This is driving me nuts and maytag has a terrible guarantee now so it is going to cost me $!00s to call a service person to fix this. I am not giving up. I am versed enough in electronics to fix this but don't want to start tearing it apart until I can figure out the issue better. Is there a reset I can use or is unplugging the machine for a minute or so all there is here for this model?

Thanks Holly, Sometimes there’s an item of clothing caught in the tub right where the water goes down to the pump. You can remove the tube where it connects to the tub and check.

When i turn the pulley with my hand the inside the pump turns but if i hold something in the pump on the wheel and turn the pulley it does even try to turn. Is the pulley connected to the pumps internal wheel? I can pour water into the wash tub and it come out the hose. I also poured water down the drain hose and it came out. So I am now thinking the pump is bad.

Yep, Just need to change the injector. Pretty cheap part.

Hi James, It would be good to get the 2 new belts. Try to turn each pulley both directions . The big pulley might be stuck.

It after we pulled out the mask , we ran the spin cycle and it was def moving .... we decided to text out a wet towel we used for the water pick up and no movement at all 🤦🏾‍♀️ at this point I’m just gonna purchase a new washer ... I have the same model as you so I appreciate you posting this video ... I definitely learned some new things

MY washer makes no noise at all, like it isn't even attempting to drain it. It will load water and instantly not move on to the next cycle.

Can you pull the drain hose out of the wall and let it sit close to the ground in a bucket and the water will come out.

Awesome video! Straight to the point and simple to follow along! The exact model I was looking for that we have at our cabin! Unfortunately, it wasn't a sock. The impeller slips when the pulley is turned. If you see this soon, do you happen to know the part number and where to buy a replacement? Need to decide upon new used washer or replacing the pump and belts. My brother is in the parts business, but don't think he can get a hold of one before they arrive here. Thanks!

I just simply put a fairly strong horseshoe 🧲 magnet where the lid switch actually comes in contact together and easy peasy working fine now or at least till I get a day off to address the issue
