Spot on walk through, cheers. Far better than the Autodata guide which doesn't say to loosen the cam pulleys.

Nice video pal so you've got to go the extra mile now. Invest in a good camera, tripod and a smaller camera to get in the tiny areas and get better close ups. But very informative and the detail was great.

I’m building a 2.3l duratec non turbo for racing. My entire block is going to be stripped and machined. Can i retime by putting the locks in after crank and everything is gone or should i leave locks while pulling motor apart? I’m mechanically minded but this is the first time my motor is being bored to 2.4l and having heads ported for high air flow

When do you change your timing chain or belt for a cx-7 2.3? I do have a 2011 cx 7 GT , w/ 128K on never did this before.
@dawdathemechanic-dawdaauto17615 жыл бұрын
Hello am only changing the chain etc because it makes rattle noise when you start it from cold. Am not sure if they have specific mileage to change it. But if you do hear it rattle on cold start then it's best to change it👍

I did everthing like you said but my car won't crank after i put everthing back together... Any idea why? Thanks
@dawdathemechanic-dawdaauto17615 жыл бұрын
Hello it should start straight away. Recheck your timing. ●Remove the cam cover again ●Remove cylinder 1 spark plug ●Set cylinder 1 to TDC, make sure cylinder 1 is all the way on top. ●Once it's on tdc, fit the camshaft locking tool to see if it goes in. Let me know after you do that👍 There are some people in the comment below that done it and it works for them.
@tchounkem.61995 жыл бұрын
Thank you i will do that again for sure. Also; when i turned the ignition switch on all i heat it's a click and my car is 200k miles so i suspected it might be the starter and i ordered a new one just in case. When i remove spark plug 1 how do i set cylinder 1 to TDC? thank you so much for you help
@tchounkem.61995 жыл бұрын
Hey dwanda I followed your guide and now it cranks but i won't start. There is no enough compression... what should i do . Thank
@dawdathemechanic-dawdaauto17615 жыл бұрын
Hello mate What's the story of your car? Did it use to run before you started the work? This time of job is not recommended for people that does not have basic understanding of combustion engine. You can easily make mistake and cause damage to your engine. Normally people that follow this video, are already working as a mechanic and has done similar jobs before. When I say remove cylinder 1 spark plug and make sure it's definitely on TDC, mechanic will understand what I mean. When you foward the video from 11:20sec to 11:42sec it will show how the locking tool locks the crankshaft on TDC. You must restart again, remove everything again. Follow the video from 11:20sec all the way to 16:00mins If it still sounds no compression after, then carry out compression test on all 4 cylinders. If any of the cylinder have no compression then the cylinder head has to be removed for the valves to be replaced etc👎

Hello Dawda mechanic. I have watched your video how to replace the timing chain. I saw you keep the timing crank peg in the location and after that you used the impact wrench to tighten up the crank bolt. Please let me know is it ok to the crank timing peg ? And okay to the auluminum engine block? I’d like to do the crank bolt like you did but I’m confusing it will get loose and slide a little bit timing in the future? Ford said the crank bolt 74ft/lb and after add more 90 degree by a breaker bar for make sure it never gets loose between crank sprocket vs crank shaft. ( have to remove the starter and put a fly wheel locking tool to hold the crank shaft stay firmly). How many miles put in the car so far from? Doing like you do that is never gets loose the bolt? Is it not problem at all? Thank you so much.
@dawdathemechanic-dawdaauto17615 жыл бұрын
Hello yess You leave the locking tools in the crank and cam so the timing doesn't move. You need to gently buzz crank centre bolt with the gun so that the crank pully holds the timing in place. Don't tight too much cuz of the locking tool. Just give it 1 buzz . Remove the crank and cam locking tool. Then you can either tight it with the gun properly second stage like I did on the video. Its best to tight with torque wrench like the recommended way. I did the car 11 months ago and it's a round 8k miles 👍
