Just use the other end of the physical key and it shout open it up Change your battery and still having issues detecting key? agree. once i learned that the back slides over only a couple mm's when you release it and that you have to lift up the edge to get it off, i was gold. my brain thinks that when i release the back, that it will slide all the way over and off. also, i confirmed you can use a fingernail to move the tab to get the front off.

Just a tip: The little notch on the physical key hidden under the first panel that you remove works plenty well for removing the second panel. You don't necessarily need a screwdriver for this.

I’m pretty mechanical minded, but I did not want to break the plastic key fix covers. I don’t think I would’ve got how the second, front panel removed to access the battery cover without your video. Thank you.

I wouldn't have been able to change my battery without you. Thanks. I'm just actually very surprised that my 2021 Miata key fob needed the battery replaced already. My car only has 3,000 miles on it, and I think it should actually last through some real usage. I'm glad you made the video for 20 and newer, because it goes bad fast just sitting around! Your video was excellent.

oh and one more thing...I noticed your physical key didn't come out of place, mine fell out of place and I didn't see anyway to click it back in place. I basically had to sit it back in place, but there is no "clicking" so to speak, to make it stay. Was wondering if others had that problem. Or, if it was actually a problem.

Big TIp: Make sure that your car is OUTSIDE or has PLENTY OF CLEARANCE FOR THE REAR HATCH -- BEFORE -- you start wrestling the key fob. If there is any battery life left at all, you may accidentally hold the buttons and open the rear hatch right into your garage door. (Ask me how I know ... I won't make that mistake again.) Also, this procedure is clearly described and illustrated in the owner's manual, but it is much better to see it visually, so thank you!

The key hole is hidden behind the door handle, so if the battery dies and you are locked out, pull on the door handle and the key hole is is back there to use the physical key with so you can get in and pop the hood to jump it.

Amazing how nobody seems to realize that the back end of the emergency key is a tool to use instead of having a flathead screwdriver. You do not need any tools to change the battery in your keyfob, Mazda engineers thought of this when designing the key.

This is probably the worst key fob design in the entire history of key fobs. Why? Why do you have do disassemble both sides to get to the battery compartment? It makes zero sense. It's worse than my Mercedes key fob... However, your video makes easy work of other people's design flaws.
