The honda del sol, ive owned both a miata and a del sol, and to a point I can say the del sol was more fun than the miata, especially since my del sol was stick and my miata (nc) was not, i love them both but something about the design and feel of the del sol just really hit the spot 🙏

If you drive it hard enough, and/or do it deliberately, any sports car will spin out, the key being to keep it under control. The best sports cars can be kept in control easily, at least by a skilled driver. Miatas must be among the best sports cars, because they are so sharp, even tempered and intuitive. Love mine!

@Chewy Tortle Are you driving a good one, or a tired example? They have no power amenities (most do have power steering), but they're generally regarded as easy to drive... I find mine to be easy to drive, though she's at her best on narrow, twisty roads. Highways are not her forte, but in terms of total fun, especially in terms of bang for buck (but even independent of cost, to some degree), a Miata can't be beat. Would invite you to explain what you mean by "hard to drive."

I don't often disagree with David, but I think this couldn't be further off the money. Early miatas in particular are very vague, but are great 7 or 8-tenths cars, meaning they're best when you're not pushing them to their absolute limits. A lot of the best drivers i know personally have binned a miata at least once because they're pretty easy to lose control of on the limit because they're vague at 10/10.

If you own a Miata and have never spun it, you still don't know its limit, and that's sad. I grew up on Gran Tourismo, a 95 NA MX5 with a manual transmission and an LSD on the rainy streets of Seattle. I assure you the traffic behind me have on occasion seen my headlights. Just a few revs and clutch kick will right that car nearly around its axis. So hang that ass out! Get greedy! Live your life!

I've owned a 1.6 NA for 20 years - and put 175,000 miles ( 249k total miles on it). I've also owned many MGBs. a Datsun 1600, a couple Corvettes, and a 63 XKE that have come and gone but the Miata is still the go-to. I drive the snot out of it, and except for suspension bushes/coilovers, brakes, tires, batteries hoses and one headgasket (because of a hose) everything including the top, clutch and ujoints are original to the car. The AC, Cruise, power windows and power steering all work just fine. I finally got round to adding a bluetooth stereo.... Wouldn;t trade it for the world.

I would recommend the isr exhaust for the miata...I have one with the resonated car delete and it sounds very nice with imo the perfect amount of rasp. I am pushing about 300 hp at the wheel and it is sooooooo much fun. I added around 30 lbs to the car doing this, but I am still close to that 50/50 weight ratio and the handling on it is still excellent. If you ever get the chance, try driving an NC with that setup. I think you will find them a blast! For exhausts, try Flying Miata, Fab 9 Tunning, and Goodwin Racing

I bought a '92 Miata in August 2020 for $3200, immaculate body, but needed an engine refresh, suspension, wheels, tires etc. I've dumped probably an additional $8k into the car. The car is so rewarding when you drive it well, yet is incredibly forgiving. I plan on doing ITBs, cams, and a tune. Also David, check out either the Flyin Miata exhaust, Roadster Sport, or a Magnaflow. The Racing Beat Power Pulse sounds great! But is not very loud

I've seen so many Miata videos lately that I'm definitely trying to grab one around February when the prices are still low from winter. I originally planned on getting one then I decided to get a MK4 Golf GTI. It was great car though. It was a Imola Yellow 20th. With no resonator or muffler and a tune and blow off valve. It crackled and popped. It tore off the front tires. I never laughed so much driving a car. Sadly, I had to catch up in spring with a massive plumbing bill and I sold it. Now, I'm pretty certain I'm gonna end up in a Miata next spring. I'm still back and forth if I want an NA8 or an NB2.

If you are looking for a louder exhaust that isn't raspy you should look a Yonaka exhaust. This was the one i had my mond der on for my 94 but they only ship Canada and mainland USA and I live in Belgium so that ain't working 😂 And the "you need to be bad at driving to spin a miata really hurted, i spinned mine into a lightpost, currently at a body shop and should be back next week. Live taken up enough of your time now. Love the video, keep it up

Advancing the timing is actually a common mod on the na's typical this moves the power curve a little lower in the rev range, running a higher octane Is usually advised though

I’ve got a yonaka catback on my ‘95 and it sounds very good. Louder than stock but not rhaspy or droney. Fits up perfect too with the na8’s factory subframe bracing.

I have an isr exhaust. It is raspy at 2-3k rpm naturally aspirated but once I installed my turbo, it is an amazing exhaust with no rasp and even quieted down with the turbo.

Is that an NB steering wheel? I need that! I actually made a realization the other day of driving the smallest car with a detachable steering wheel is terrifying. To think we delete the most important airbag for style haha

Hey David, my Miata had a Racing Beat header back dual exit exhaust and it sounds AMAZING, I would look into Racing Beat especially for the type of car y’all want. It’s not to loud, it’s not raspy, but it gives you that feeling of loud speed when you get into the higher RPM’s

The raw analog feel is one reason I still choose to drive a 99 SVT Contour as a daily. The price and feel of the car just felt right for what I was looking for. Plus it confuses people when they see it which is a plus.

Being the owner of a 89 1.6 eunos i can confidently say it does not feel like a boat anchor the Japanese model had different cams which made like 112 hp which makes one hell of a difference to the mx5 or miata that have the same down tuned engine

"you have to be awful at driving to spin out a miata" well, not if you're drifting it on a track. those things can be pretty snappy sometimes and you can totally drift u-turns, you just have to send it really hard and maybe give it a little clutch kick. even with an open diff, it'll kick the rear out pretty much every time

Just saw this vid. Love it. I have the same car. That NA might already have a torsen diff. The “C” trim Miatas with tan leather were pretty loaded. Might wanna call the dealership and check the vin or remove an axle and check for a diff pin. No pin= torsen win! I drove mine for years without knowing mine already had an LSD. 😅

Hands down best exhaust setup is a RS Factory Stage N-Zero axleback with Roadster Sport header and Racing Beat mid pipe. However that whole setup is around $1,500 which is a tad bit expensive to say the least. The RS Factory axle back itself is around $800, but watch a video or two of Miatas with them, they probably the best sounding exhaust I’ve seen for a Miata. I was going to buy one about a week ago but figured I’d save some money and buy a Flyin Miata axle back and save myself $400.
