Interesting discussion on the congestion schemes in larger cities. I was impressed that on street parking was identified as a major source of the problem. When most people think of on street parking in a place like Manhattan you think it's all metered, but it just isn't. 78k of the 90k street spots are not metered. Ban street parking one block at a time and that will do a lot to fix congestion. Sell "idle permits" so delivery vehicles and taxi/uber/lyft can idle in these spots for drop offs and deliveries and you are no longer blocking the driving lanes. Finally, while ride share has only made it easier to take a taxi and thus increased congestion; you can also have pooled rides. With a taxi this is very difficult but in a place like Manhattan, this is pretty trivial to do given the sheer number of riders. You don't need much improvement to fix the problem.

You gentlemen may not be aware of it, but every time a building goes up in New York, the new building codes require that they put a substantial amount of parking in the construction of the building. This help alleviate congestion and the problem with parking when a new high rise building goes up.

@@electrictroy2010 I know and having true low pollution is very important. I had a TDi manual which I returned to VW because it was polluting and bought a Nissan with a naturally aspirated engine and a CVT. The Nissan handles OK but doesn't come close to the VW, plus I now have range anxiety ;), went from 1100 to 1200 km for a full tank of Diesel to 500 to 540 km for a full tank of gasoline! And that CVT won't be so bad if it could be controlled manually with a lever or such...

Mazda’s are great. As far as autonomy the majority of people will not want it and not trust it. The sensors don’t work in snow, icy conditions, and certain rural areas. It’ll be 30 years before they get a big portion of the market

Watched this episode of AAH. Would like to say to Todd Lassa: You shouldn't be talking about things you know nothing about. I'm referring to your comments on the Boeing 737. The 737's manufactured today, including the 737 MAX, are not even close to being the same as the first 737 which was a -100, made decades ago. There isn't any components in the latest B737's as there were in the first generation aircraft. You essentially started talking about how an aircraft made in 1967 should not be expected to perform to today's standards. Well, that type of statement allows us all to know just how clueless you are. My suggestion, stay in your own lane and quit talking like a teenager.

10:39 Are you serious? This is NOT a beautiful car as you seem to think, it is fugly, especially from the rear 3/4 view. The front is actually pretty good but now that you are partnering with Toyota, you could ask their designers to screw up the front end look as well. They're experts at that! Then you could have a vehicle that approaches the overall design aesthetic of a Pontiac Aztek or AMC Pacer. Those sold in fantastic numbers. The current Mazda 3 looks O.K. and the Mazda 6 is quite beautiful so Mazda does have the capability. Sadly, the new Mazda 3 is not it and I predict it will be a resounding failure in the market. 26:25 Apparently Todd, you're unaware that there is already a high performance sports car in the market with Rotary Power. It's called a Tesla Model S P100D, or even a Model 3 Performance edition. The Wankel Engine is dead. Let it R.I.P.

When will you realize that they are way ahead of every other manufacturer and the rest of the industry is struggling to play catch-up. I predict that if you total the last three quarters they Tesla will show a profit. Also a quarter from now they will be able to say they were profitable for the last four quarters in total.

Ford are all completely out of ideas. They will just concentrate on the F150 so they can avoid CAFE and the existing cars have rubbish engines. What Ford do to avoid future massive lawsuits about their engines and transmissions like powershift, is they simply stop making them. Retreat back into F150 land in other words. Death spiral.

"Mazda has no new technology" - They have an HCCI engine. That's a MAJOR new technology. That alone disproves such a nonsense claim. @electrictroy2010 Their Skyactiv-G engines are only 13:1 in the US where 'standard' gasoline. Internationally, the CR is 14:1. Yes, it's notable that Mazda does this because because a Ford rep on this network openly declared that going above 12:1 was impossible without higher octane gas.
