I live with OCD, BPD, BiPolar 2, ADHD, Childhood PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, Panic attacks, EDNOS & A lot of self-negative inner voices telling me I'm worthless. It's hard or almost impossible to let my negative self-talk & OCD to be released on a daily basis 😢! I have NO friends. I'm extremely Depressed since both my husband & Dad both passed away 4 months apart. First, my husband passed away on April 22nd, 2024 @ 68 years of age & then my Dad, 91, recently passed away on August 14th, 2024. My life has been turned upside down & backwards. My mental health has spiraled downwards daily until I feel worthless... a nobody important. Half of my days are spent crying 😢 grieving both of them.

I'm sorry honey, I get it. I too lost loved ones and such. Maybe try some herbs 1. St. Johns worth 2 . Gentle Exercise Walk or swim 3. Meditation on here is good 4. Mindfulness - I know it sucks but practice saying something grateful for like coffee or something. 5. Coffee or hot tub 6. Fasting, if possible 24 hours 7. Journaling 8. Music 9. I honestly hate therapy but if you can get one for cheap. Like talking to Chat GBT is free and helpful. I know it's AI but it is surprising kind and helpful. 10. Comfort food 11. Heaven awaits chanel here helps knowing that your loved ones love you and wanted to know that they care. Hugs I know what it's like have no friends I did read a book that talks about keto diet can help with depression

I just want you to know your not alone. Hugs. It's okay cry and crying can help your brain regulate emotions. Hugs, warm tea and hold on there.

How long do you think it takes to get rid of negative core beliefs? I'm 22, I'd say the abuse happened when I was 10, maybe I've been holding these since middle school so like 12 years. When you change them too, your thoughts change > emotions then it goes to your actions right?

Changing negative core beliefs is a gradual process and varies from person to person. Rather than completely "getting rid of" deeply ingrained core beliefs, we develop new, healthier beliefs that can coexist with the old ones. Over time, these new beliefs can become stronger and more dominant, effectively "inhibiting" the old negative beliefs. The old beliefs might still be there in the background to some degree, but they lose their influence as we reinforce the newer, more positive ones through practice and experience. Instead of a linear relationship in which changes in core beliefs lead to changes in thinking, to changes in emotions, to changes in behavior, these different factors change concurrently and reinforce one another. For example, two main ways to start changing core beliefs are by changing our thoughts and changing our behavior. As our core beliefs start to change, this leads to further changes in our thoughts and behavior that feed back into our core beliefs. If you haven't watched them already, I have a couple of videos about core beliefs www.selfhelptoons.com/core-beliefs-in-cbt/ and www.selfhelptoons.com/modifying-core-beliefs-in-cbt/

@@SelfHelpToons thank you so much! I understand now and it makes more sense. I will definitely check out those videos, I was using some worksheets for core beliefs from therapistaid, but yeah ty! It makes more sense with the reinforcing thing too, it’s just practice over time and gradually the newer ones will just be more dominant.
