*Damn that's a good sounding engine. Sounds like it has some serious torque.*

The story goes, McCulloch built these in order to break into the snowmobile engine market. This is a balanced piston design engine with variable crank case volume. Very cool design.

30 hp at 6000rpm is what it was rated at I think. When we tached it, itwent over 17k

My Father was a McCulloch dealer when they were testing these, McCulloch wouldn't say much if anything about it, my biggest concern was, who made a clutch that could take that kind of speed without flying apart? P.S.-I have 2 BP-1 chainsaws that use the same balance piston design with factory service manual and all of the service bulletins.

Good to hear guys like you are keeping history alive! I have a BP-1 waiting for a rebuild/parks.

Keep revving like that without letting it warm all the way up and this one will no longer be a running example.
@royb.14417 ай бұрын
Yea because two strokes run so crisp and perfect like that when dead cold immediately after startup.....in case my sarcasm was lost on you (bro he obviously warmed it up, 😂)

Way more than 4 exist. This gentleman alone has/had three. They show up for sale from time to time.

makes my skin crawl when I see him rev that vintage engine like that ,, no wonder we can't find them anywhere they all got trashed by some idiot

@gadsden19576 жыл бұрын
Don't get too upset, even though you can't get parts for it anymore, those old Mac's can take it, my father got 18K rpm out of a Mac-10 set the track record for a single engine class at 128.5 MPH, quite a feat for the late 1950's
