I really think this should be more popular. I have never heard of this server until recently due to random luck. Most people are in my situation too. I think if you showerd everyone playing classic and retail this server, they'd be inclined to try it out. It's unique. It's not old content or rehashed content. It depends. Both work. Again, min maxing is another story, but if you go strength make sure you compliment it with mental quickness in the enh shaman tree. Otherwise, go int, plate gear, and a shield like Rattlecages Buckler on heroic

Play what ever may interest you, but for anyone wondering: Crim Champ/Bulwark > 2H Parry > Bear > All Else has been the meta since the nerfs to Purification By The Light reducing the threat-gen for Bears massively. They tried to compensate for this during the classic phase of A'lar by giving us Lacerate at level 60 now (for use of the Lacerate LRE), but Bear tanks still have trouble maintaining threat at Ascended/Mythic level play sadly.

Yes you can play anything, if you keep your level of content you want to achieve in mind! I'm all for exploration and trying new things but if you are wanting to do more high level content, many of these builds will not function there sadly :(

To my knowledge and correct me if I am wrong, I am using Crinson Champ now and in heroics it sucks for aoe, it's mainly a boss tank. I did take TC for some aoe threat but mobs still run straight past me. Once I pick them up though it's great threat. The stupid players don't help either by pulling themselves or dps way too early.

@@Mcdoubles I get this perspective as a long time WoW-retail player, but the average non-retail player is quite overwhelmed with all of the systems in Ascension, so maybe you should relent a bit on this policy? I personally prefer my own ideas, I am running an arcane explosion spamming tank with mana sustain and passive defensives maxed. It's great for leveling, as I keep a lot of aggro and can top the meters often.

I've just leveled a tank and went a bulwark type build. One thing that I've noticed that hinders the style is there are alot of mobs in dungeons and raids that have knock backs, stuns, fears, charms ect and since bulwark is a channeled ability, it actually gets interrupted alot which is very frustrating. Would be nice if they made it non interruptable or something like that.

Bro for the fire tank there is a epic RE called blaze that spreads your immolate to all targets within ten yards when you use fire blast 💥. It’s great for large pulls for constant dots and really helps out!

I would highly recommend always getting righteous fury regardless of what tank you play. AITs strong for any hybrid, anyone using the Crackling Thunder or Purification By Light REs, Of course anything paladin based. Improved RF is also % damage reduction of all types which is very rare!

Yo Mickey Doubloons, for the 2h Parry Tank, Ghostly Strike is just about mandatory, it's where easily 80% of your mitigation comes from, especially for stuff like a talent something along the lines of "unveiling shadows" gives you bulk mitigation to incoming physical and all AOE damage

This is what I want to see. Bro, it will work. Try it and see if YOU enjoy it but that's the point. With the right foundation (tclap, sword/board, maybe cone and frost shock) you can make it work the same way I made Kreg work with just Flamestrike, Fireblast, and Dragons Breath

Based on my exp, bear is somehow better with purification by the light. By the nature of how righteous fury threat and PbtL procs work it generates more threat than PB or NF, especially in lower level where gear and sustain are scarce. Still, a hat off for the video, hope it encourages people to play the roll which is pretty scarce atm in the s7.

Yeah I was just going for things that work well and generally make sense and are easy to pick up and go. I don't think many people would put two and two together with stuff like that. If I ever do a guide with talents and advanced info I'll do more research into the tippy top builds. To me Ascension is a game to theorycraft in and not to copy and paste others, so I'm encouraging new players to use my skeleton notes to create an essay of their own.

The fact that tank and heal are the roll that actually can be modified with a lot more procs with these and that came from their non-core spells should've been their main attraction, such as Blessing of the Divines, Overheating, all of the Coned spells, etc. But the player itself just want some zugzug.

Would someone be able to explain to me how Project Ascension deals with Classic content? One of the big pulls for me was to try out their heroic classic raids but I've seen that the Project Ascension servers are now going to level 70 with Burning Crusade. But in Mcdoubles last couple of videos I've seen him at level 60 and in heroic stratholme? Do the seasonal servers have a set period at level 60 before advancing to 70 with the rest of the content?

As a start, Stick to the prot warrior tree and you'll be golden. Try experimenting with stamina, block, and mitigation talents from other specs too.

Threat is the big killer for tanks. So long as you make sure you have righteous fury with the talent to buff it. Use overheating legendary re for easy fire dot damage. Dots are good threat. If possible use magma totem and fire nova (if fire nova can be used in bear, not tested yet) and just swipe like a mad bear! Should hold threat. Vigilance is good for a high damage dealer to control Thier threat too. 😁✌️

I wanted to ask (new player here) which is better in your opinion leveling alts for every spec/build you want to play or doing prestige on charecters, for example i have a parry tank which i can gear kinda quicker than dps but if i use Crusader and Divine storm card on his second spec it kinda locks him, on the other hand i have a dual wield dps character but there I am aiming for dual wielding talent from the warrior tree which also contradicts the holy build. Cannot decide which is better prestige or alts and what is the right way to go. Thank you !

If your skill cards are versatile you can stick to one char. Otherwise its a mix of both. I have 1 char with 3 prestiges and then also 5 alts lol. You can send a lot of stuff between your chars so it makes having alts easier

Well that's basically Bulwark and also Crimson Champion. When you read the LREs and just pull in basic talents from prot warr and prot pal trees that obviously synergize (give block, stam, any mitigation/threat) you end up as what your describing

6:52 I dont think this works with Maelstrom, as it becomes instant cast. More of a PvP thingy for the caster oriented guys. Good stuff man, personally I have a reflect-tank built on crimson champion :D Damage Shield talent, Blunt Force Trauma, Burst of Thorns and Crackling Thunder, Ret Aura, Molten armor and Thorns, Skullflame shield.... Hopefully soon a naglering and razor??? gauntlets from DM. If the mobs get on you they will never fall off. Crimson Champion Shield Slams by itself are excellent AoE.
