@@mountaingirl1797 arsenic is an element, like calcium and magnesium etc. It cannot be broken down or changed. The element of arsenic is everywhere in your environment to varying degrees. Because.of this your body is quite capable of removing arsenic. It has a short half-life when compared to other potentially toxic compounds and elements such as PCB's or chromium. There is arsenic in all soil. The important question is "does rice you buy at the store tend to have clinically relevant levels of arsenic in it?" (All food has some amount of arsenic) The answer is probably not. Otherwise the chinese would be some dead SOB's.

Thank you Dr. McDougall for talking about the importance of the environmental impact of animal agriculture. I’m terrified for my kids’ futures and we need to act so much faster than we are. I’m no longer conflicted about my diet, I’ve lost 70lbs and have a healthy BMI of 21, no more headaches, heartburn, or confusion about what to eat. That may not sound like a lot but it’s the best change I’ve ever made in my life!!! I wish everyone in the world would watch this.

@@777cayman vegan diets aren't purported to prevent strokes. Or the flu. Or bleeding to death. Or being shot by a handgun. Etc. Diet does not treat all forms of potential disability, death, and disease. Stroke is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Vegans are less than 5% of the population. Most people that have strokes are not vegan. It is not uncommon for an old person to have a stroke. McDougall is an old person. Most old people that have strokes are not vegan. Well I have been on this diet for 18 months and the flu virus thing works for me. What tells me this is I started working at the age of 13 I worked unit I was 58 at the time I was 55 to 57 I looked after my father and was supposed to take the flu shot so I did and for five years until my father died in those years I never had even a head cold. Up until I took the flu shot I suffered every year with out fail I had missed at least one week per year of work from flu. I stoped taking the flu shot after my father died and in the second year I had a week in bed and two head colds. So from then to now I take the flu shots yearly. I have not even had a head cold at all. I heare yearly of people dying of the flu. Then every ten years I hear of the one person in a million who died of flu shot. So it may be mental for me but I like being healthy so I follow the Mcdougal diet. I also do take the flu shot every year because it works for me. I also promote this way of eating and I feel great and live cheaper and healthier. But I take the flu shot like he says not to. But if he said it was time to jump off a cliff he would be jumping on his own.

"it works for me" isn't an argument. You have no idea what is causing your observed results, only hypotheses. Could be acquired immunity. Could be placebo. Could be nocebo. Could be immune activation from vaccine adjuvants. Could be all sorts of other variables that you haven't considered. Are you getting lab tests to confirm you have the viruses that you think that you do? Maybe you are right.. Or maybe you are wrong.

petmom ful glad to hear your doing good, stay away from Rockefeller medical system, Heal thy self= HEALTHY
@Jewlz4ever4 жыл бұрын
petmom ful, it may not be the wheat that flares things up for you, but rather the RoundUp (glyphosate) they spray all over the wheat as a pesticide. It’s extremely toxic and known to cause cancer. Glyphosate is also an ingredient in vaccines, hmm. Anyway, if you’d like, try eating organic wheat and see if it still flares you. But overall, I believe refined grains are not good for you to begin with, so if you’ve eliminated them, it’s best to keep them away. Best wishes to you.

[46:50] It's inaccurate to say that since 1980 people in the Far East have enthusiastically taken on the rich Western diet. for the most part they're still eating their traditional diets, but since they're are wealthier they're eating more food and more expensive food, such as meat, eggs, fish and seafood. Those food were already present in their cuisines, but they were more frugally consumed than today. A similar process took place after WWII in much of Europe, whose population were presumably already eating western diets. For instance, according to FAO, annual meat consumption per capita in Spain went from 21.78 kg in 1960 to 116.79 kg in 1998, that's about 5.4 times increase. For the most part that extra meat wasn't burgers or hotdogs, but pork ham, ribs and steaks, chicken, and traditional varieties of cured and cold meats. In contrast, milk and dairy (excluding butter) "only" doubled, going from 83 kg/yr/pop in 1960 and peaking in 1984 at 177 kg/yr/pop. Fish and seafood didn't even double, going from 25 kg in 1960 and peaking at 47 in 1998. Interestingly, egg consumption has remained almost constant over all these years, and offal first went up from 2 kg/yr/pop to more than 6 kg/yr/pop, pealing in 2001 at 6.18 kg/yr/pop, and then went down to less than 5 kg/yr/pop.

I have been eating high carb low fat for years and have not lost any weight. I'm not knocking it and I have no problem using it as a sustainable way of eating obviously. But I can't lose fat on it. The only way I'm losing weight (finally) is going low carb with my carbs coming mainly from fruit, legumes and veggies (all high fiber, lower carb). I hate to have to eat meat because I know these days it really is poison but I'm doing it temporarily to get this weight off while satisfying hunger and keeping muscle tone (I have a good build I want to KEEP).
@theartificialsociety33738 жыл бұрын
Well what is the weight you are talking about and your height? In mice studies, high protein diet led to mice being leaner and slightly stronger. But they died much earlier from many causes. The chunkier high carb low protein low fat live longest by a quite substantial amount and caloric restriction only benefitted protein restriction and fat restriction. So you are likely experiencing a similar phenomenon.
@johnnyzeroable8 жыл бұрын
+David McClelland I have heard McDougall say before that in some special cases people won't lose weight on his diet and in those cases he talks about green and yellow vegetables. He was just answering a question and I don't remember him going into much detail about it, but I took from it that some people should reduce their calories by increasing the amount of vegetables they eat and reducing their starches somewhat. I have had much success doing this myself, I increased my fat intake slightly too with seeds which seems to be satiating and allows me to eat lower calorie without being hungry. I suspect the people who benefit from this route are people who have dieted many many times and have very slow metabolism and very high calorie efficiency as a result. I am still a believer in what McDougall promotes and have seen many people I know lose weight easily on it. I followed it myself for years before experimenting with it this way.

But... if you get the flu shot every year, you begin to build up an immunity to a wide variety of influenza serotypes. Your immune system has a better chance of responding to the next serotype that comes along, because it looks more familiar. I get a flu shot every year for this reason, I am "sending my immune system to college." Am I wrong???
@Qwazier37 жыл бұрын
Ever hear of Thimerosal? It's a preservative put in vaccines that has mercury in it. You're putting more into your body than you think. Flu shots are a Big Pharma money making scam. Follow the money. The flu was not this bad when I grew up in the 60's & 70's. And if you notice, when they started giving out flu shots it was in October. Then they moved it back to September. Now they're pushing for August. Did you notice the flu seems to come earlier and earlier every year? I find it funny that about 10 years ago there was a major shortage of the flu shot. Only the elderly got it that year. Interesting thing about that was come February the headlines in the news paper said....THE FLU WAS LATE THIS SEASON BUT IT"S NOT TOO LATE TO GET A FLU SHOT....New batches just in. Now, can you add? I can. It adds up to a big scam. Why would you want to put something into your body that you REALLY don't know what it is or what's in it? You might be setting your immune system up for failure.

See Shoenfeld re adjuvants in vaccines can cause inflammatory autoimmune illness. Additionally, vaccine companies are guessing which flu strains to immunize against and miss the mark in many cases. I would rather have the flu and months of illness than suffer permanent neurological damage from the adjuvants these drug companies use in vaccines. www.scribd.com/document/103697971/Schoenfeld-JournAutoimunity-2011-ASIA-Autoimmune-inflammatory-syndrome-induced-by-adjuvants

No one is arguing against immunity against dread diseases. However, vaccines with adjuvants that cause lifelong neurological and immune damage, are unacceptable--- And that is what has been intentionally obscured from open discussion in public discourse. The public is sick of being poisoned by industry. And drug companies are industry.

Runcible is right about the flu vaccine. And may I add that they give a different vaccine for the flu to each part of the country. This fact furthers my conspiracy theory against the flu shot. They may just be setting the sheeple up for increased illness or some kind of neurological issues in older age. How best to take over the world if you can dumb down the masses. Am I over reacting? Maybe but why take a chance? In summery, vaccines are valuable. But only without the extra stuff in them and not in mass quantities like they want to give to kids under 5 today.

I read that the duration of the immunity from vaccine goes only for 1~2years. unlike the immunity you get from the real diseas..which goes way longer or almost forever.

@@Nina-hk7ub “McDougall has been criticized for making unsubstantiated health claims.[17] Some of McDougall's dietary recommendations are in line with mainstream nutritional advice, such as an emphasis on fruits, vegetables and whole grains, but others are considered extreme and are not supported by evidence.[4][12] McDougall's diet plan has been called a low-fat fad diet that may lead to flatulence, possibly poor mineral absorption from excess fiber and limited food choices that sometimes may lead to nutrient deprivation.[2] The diet places patients at risk of being deprived of zinc, vitamin D, calcium, iron, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin B12 when followed strictly.[18] In 1992, nutritionist Kurt Butler described McDougall's ideas as "vegetarian extremism" and McDougall as "Americas most influential vegan zealot" who has taken the low-fat vegetarian diet to extremes.[4]”

I'm worried for Dr. McDougall. His voice has gotten weak and stuffy, he has lost weight and seems like his mind is wandering. He is only 69, but it seems like he is aging fast.
@JohnDoe-xk1dv5 жыл бұрын
I note you wrote this last year - but even so... Dr McD is 71 now, and was 67 at the time of this talk. He's obviously not immune from some aging, and looking and sounding okay for his age really i'd say. But the bigger point is that the longest living, healthiest people in the world are big starch eaters, with some fruit and vegetables, and a little exercise and sunshine. That's the great takeaway. John does say he got too much sun in his time in Hawaii without sunscreen, and does spend some time in the sun in California - so his skin has suffered more than might otherwise for example, which he has acknowledged several times in his talks.
