This is a commonly required McKenzie exercise for the relief of neck pain, that may or may not refer into the shoulder blade and arm.
The lying or unloaded position can be more effective than Retraction done in sitting or standing, and sometimes in difficult cases is the only position in which symptoms first start to centralize or reduce.
Symptoms should remain better or more centralised after performing the exercise to indicate it is correct for you.
You should only perform this exercise under the guidance of a fully qualified McKenzie practitioner to ensure you understand the exercise and ensure it is appropriate for your condition.
