Our red and white husky Phoenix's TPLO surgery recovery has been going so well! She amazes me every day! She just got her staples out and the techs were amazed by how well she was walking already. We've been using a sling/lift harness to help her walk since recovery day 1. Here I show you how it works and how she is able to walk and go to the bathroom with it.

Our dog Phoenix has been living with idiopathic epilepsy since she was 2 years old. We manage it with daily medication and a strict diet. She can do everything a non-epi dog can and will sass you while doing it! Epileptic dogs can live awesome and normal lives and Phoenix is proof! She is also a bionic dog, having had a metal plate surgically installed to stabilize her knee after she tore her ACL. She is my actual hero.

Please, if anyone has info that can help me, please let me know! Here's our story. Thank you so much for the info you're providing about this sling. I'm new to all of this. 5 days ago my dog got out for about 10 to 15 minutes for a 1am run, the little turd. Lol. During that time, he managed to get into some kind of toxin. The vet believes it was possibly weed! About an hour later, my boy got a bad case of the shakes. This was about 2am. During the night he began running a high fever and seizing drastically. By the time the vet opened (small town, no 24 hour vet) his fever, which for a dog is normally 101 ° and 102° for a higher temp, was 108°. So, now he has, not only nerve damage, but some neurological damage as well. I'm happy and excited to say that I'm picking him up from the vet tomorrow. I babysit my 4 grandchildren in the evenings while my daughter and son in law work, so I'll be taking him with me in the evenings for now. The problem is that I have 5 rather steep steps up to my porch and front door. I also am 5'1", weigh 100lbs, and have severe spinal problems myself. So when I get home at night I have to manage to get my boy in the house without harming either one of us. I have a close friend who is willing to build him a wheeled cart (a doggie wheelchair) but that will take a few days. In the meantime, I'm fine using puppy pads and just cleaning up messes inside. Therefore my biggest worry has been how to get him in the house and out to the car every day. My son in law can carry him in and out of his house for me but from my house to car and car to house when I get home, I have to figure something else out. I'm doing my research now. So, like I said, if anyone has information or advice that could help me, I'd truly appreciate it. We all love our dogs and I've been a huge dog person all my life. My boy, Lucky (maybe not this time, but it was luck that brought him into my daughter and son in laws family, which is why they named him Lucky) is really a good boy. I'm the lucky one that I got to have him and keep him. He's a pit and lab mix with beautiful honey colored eyes and is only 3-1/2 years old. He's such a sweetheart and I can't wait to bring him home. Even though he's the quieter of my two dogs, I also have a mouthy, funny husky, the house has seemed absolutely silent without him home the past 5 days. My girl, Skye, misses him as much as I do. We're grateful he lived through this ordeal and is coming home. Thank you for any help or advice any of you might be able to share with us. I'm truly grateful.

My advise for everyone that has a dog with tplo is to have the dog contained in a small cage where it can only take a few steps so it will not run if sees a cat or anything to make him/her run , not walking on steps, not jumbing, the cage must have very short ceiling so it cant jumb and the cage must not be slippery like most dog crates, i have a dog crate and i have put on the floor some strong carton boxes so it will not slip, anything to put there that doesnt slip is okv except lets say a carpet that produces heat and the dog will not like in summer period, when the dog is out of the cage always be careful and have him in a short lease because you never know what will make trigger the dog to run, show the dog love, affection, good quality pet food with some cooked fresh meals because dogs love fresh meals but also need the vitamins and mineras of pet dog foods, dont give cooked bones to your dog, follow the instruction of the vet that made surgery your dog and leave your dog to rest for at least 5 minutes when you take the dog for a walk and last buy him a belly belt to help the dog stand up

Yeah, we put my used yoga mats and carpets on the floor so she wouldn't slip. She had her 4 week x ray check up and the vet cleared her for 10-15 minute walks! We are so proud of our girl, she's doing so well 😀

How is she doing now? My 2 year old Husky, Kimber, ... is going for TPLO surgery on October 31st 2019. I’m a nervous wreck 😔 She is your typical high energy Husky and it’s going to be difficult to keep her down for long. I just hope and pray she heals quickly and will get back to being her silly self

Today she's actually doing great! The hardest was the recovery after her first leg because she still had another leg that needed surgery. She's about 7 weeks post op on her second knee and she can walk about 15 minutes at a time and has started trying to jog. She does get a bit frustrated not being able to run but it doesn't seem too far away in her future. She keeps getting better every day 🙂
