I've watched every pilkington series and nearly all the podcasts. He's a true philosopher. He's the only true cynic. The name itself translate to 'dog-like' and in that, he is the modern Diogenes. The episode of idiot abroad, in Petra, he says something like 'I'd rather live in this cave and see Petra, than live in Petra and see this cave.' That's actually very philosophical and deeper than one might think.

There are a number of layers to Karl’s humor however what most don’t discuss is his near-imperviousness to Ricky’s laughter. If he laughed along, which is very rarely does, it’d be a different animal altogether. He seems to legitimately and sincerely have a perspective he is trying to share. He seems all but oblivious to the humor of it and it’s affect on others, as he’s sharing it.
@MosDefnIT88 Жыл бұрын
He's more aware of himself and his comedic genius since he met Ricky then you give him credit for and I'm sure ricky has told him off camera in real life what he's said to other people that Karl is the funniest person he's ever met. The Karl Pilkington you described is the turned up to 11 caricature of himself. To use an analogy it's like Steve Austin from the WWF. His Stone Cold persona was just him in reality over dramatized and turned way up. Why people can easily believe said character is real. Because technically, they are.
