It’s got the best and most flexible engine in a motorbike today. It cruises well at 2-3000 revs or screaming up to 8000!

I hate marketing speak.. but beneath it all, this straight 6 is indeed a masterpiece! Together with this chassis, there nothing as good. Goldwing boxer 6, yes, a greater legend but different.. tourer versus sport tourer K1600.

(1) Does the phone holder in the smartphone compartment have vibration dampening built in to protect iPhone floating cameras? I.e. The reason why nearly every owner has had to move to a quad-lock anti-vibration dampening mount on their touring/adventure motorcycles? (2) Does it fit an iPhone 13 Pro Max within a protective case? (3) Does the phone have to be connected for Car Play to work, or is it wireless like it is in an M2 Competition for instance?

As an update after 4 weeks in the shop they finally got my firmware updated and it fixed most of the problems but BMW said the inductive cellphone charger won’t work with iPhone 12 or 13 because of iPhone MagSafe system. Also the wiz wheel volume control only works with BMW helmet communication system….not with Shoei NeoTec Sena system. Every with all these issues I really do like the performance and comfort of the 2021 RT.

I currently ride a K1200LT and have been thinking about a K1600, but am somewhat turned off by the maintenance complexity and frequency. Valve adjustments look to be an all day task and even things like oil changes are more complicated than most bikes with the dual coaxial drain plug nonsense. The lack of ACC isn’t a deal breaker, but it is odd that the top of the line K1600s lack it while the sport touring RT and and Harley wannabe R18 has it. That is just an odd decision for BMW management. Lately, the requirement for premium fuel is a significant hassle in the places I ride. I have several times been unable to buy premium for my LT and the pinging that results is quite scary. These bikes should have knock sensors like modern cars and should easily handle standard octane fuel (87 in the US) without issue.

Depending on my visit to my BMW dealer this Tuesday and what they might Ofer me for my 2019 grand America I may go for the new one hopefully. The only hard thing is choosing the paint job especially the galaxy one🤩. I’ve found my grand America a fantastic bike and have enjoyed every ride also have found it to be reliable but also the service I’ve had from bmw is fantastic. The only downside I’ve not been able to enjoy my GA as much as I whanted due to the pandemic but was lucky to go on one massive tour on her witch was amazing even on the distance days was good two up.. The only disappointment in the new model is no active cruise but it’s not a deal ender. It looks amazing and refreshed with tech also like the speakers on the top box witch should be a improvement.

I own a VFR 1200f DCT at the moment and thinking upgrading to a K1600GT and to be fair even the VFR had a recall at the shaft transmission in the early days I have done nearly 40k miles no problems whatsoever

TFT cellphone interface does not work very well, my 2021 RT HAS NEVER WORKED from the day I rode off the showroom floor. It’s currently in the shop and the BMW dealer can’t get the firmware to update, cellphone charger doesn’t work, volume control doesn’t work, maps drop out all the time, if you get a call when on the bike you have to turn the bike off and back on again to reset the system. This tech has not been fully vetted. Great idea, really bad execution.

New tech that doesn't work the way it should is maddening. The infotainment system should work as easily as it does in cars. My phone connects without fail to my Mazda CX-5 for music and calls and never drops the connection. The factory Nav map database is stored on an SD card so there's no map connection to drop. Like almost all OEM Nav systems, it's not the best. But that is easily solved but using Android-Auto or Apple Car-Play. Honda has figured this out as has Harley. Sad.

Subjective.. but I say it is VERY agile. If you ride a GS, you know how to handle weight of a big bike. Push it to the limits and it will AMAZE you.

I have a 2017 K1600GT. As BMW posted - go ride one. It’s a big heavy bike that seems to do everything. You can relax and cruise or put it in dynamic mode and ride it like a sport bike. IT’s shockingly agile in the twisted. Fully loaded in touring mode and it can be a bit heavy in a parking lot but once you get going it’s still amazingly agile.

what a dumb answer given by BMW with regard to the lack of ACC in the comments. When you guys loose thousands of sales, please show BMW these comments, and the k16 forums. I will not be upgrading, becuase of the ACC and the connectivity issues the 1250rt suffers. So basically after 10 years, BMW slapped on a tft and upgraded the light cluster? Imagine ACC is available on a bike like the R18, but the proper sports tourer does not have it?
