I always thought it was shuo hua de shuo. Stone+Head + Master Um, Carver? Hi Shuo! You know I love your work and your English is great, so much better than my Chinese. Grammar is correct and pronunciation nearly so. One improvement: L European languages, particularly English produce L by putting the top tip of the tongue underneath the top front teeth. For whatever reasons, East Asian languages have trouble with this sound. But it's really easy! It's the same positionf or the sound TH. With L you blow but with TH you hiss. I never notice you making a mistake on TH which is the harder one to pronounce. I think what happens is you get happy/excited/speaking fast and then produce the Chinese closest sound to it. I know in China you must open your mouth as little as possible, and sticking one's tongue out must be unthinkable. But this sound is produced so quickly that no one notices that. If you're worried about showing your tongu you can put the tip of it behind the top teeth and still produce L or TH it correctly. But it's easier to make the sound correctly with the tip of the tongue just in front of and underneath the front teeth so try that way till you get comfortable and then you can go back to hiding your tongue behind your teeth while properly saying L.

about inviting for a drink at the very first meeting... during my two weeks in Guangdong I didn't have the time to suggest that, I got invited to lunch/dinner in 3 cases out of 4! 😅

That first sentence didn't work for me. So one day I was ordering a food in a restaurant, but it was so crowded, there were no seats left. I saw two beautiful girls dressed in a stewardess outfit, they major in Xiamen airlines aviation. The conversation went like this, me : “美女,请问这里有人坐吗?”, Both girls:“没有”, me:"不好意思,我可以坐这里吗?", Both girls:stared at me for a while... "可以.”. Me:"你们是厦航学院的吧?”,both of them:"嗯.”,“哦,我是建筑学院的,来自印尼的,你们学院的课程难吗?跟其他学院有什么不同?”,both of them:"跟你们一样。” then we all stopped talking, and it was awkward as hell, but at least I tried😂

I've been learning Chinese for half a year now. I'm on a vacation right now to a city well-known for its large Chinese population, so I went to a local market to chat randomly. However, since my language skills are around hsk2+, I'm not that skilled. So, what I've found out is that I couldn't speak. Like at all. I was standing there in various situations with my heart pumping super fast, yet I couldn't yield a single word. I guess that's what they call a language barrier. I could finally only say 谢谢你

I'm so sorry to hear that! Try again next time, 加油💪!! I think the secret is to not be afraid of making mistakes. Usually the less I worry, the better I speak, and it's always so schocking to me 🤔 how do you think?

The thing is, a lot of times the second you indicate that you might not have understood something they said, they will immediately just say it in English*, which I know is meant to be nice, but it takes away our opportunity to practice the language. :/ Maybe at least for the example of names in this video, asking something like 你的名字用什么汉子呢? would be better than 什么意思? because it gives an impression of more understanding of the language and culture. *I've seen this a lot with Japanese people and a little with Chinese and Korean people, but I haven't had as much experience with those two yet so I can't judge very well. And of course there are also people who don't do that and do help you practice. ~:~

My dating life kinda sucks in China, the ones I like don't like me, but the ones I don't like, like me XD, I'm blunt when picking up girl so, maybe thats why hahaha. But not all chinese girls are conservative, there was this one girl in my class who asked me for my number first, and keep the conversation going lol, my chinese best friend who was born in the same village as my grandfather really liked her but she didn't like him, so it was really awkward..
