You know, this is skipping ahead a bit, but if there's one thing I've always liked about this game, it's X's characterization. He just comes off as incredibly straight-laced and no-nonsense, by the end of it he's got a clear purpose in mind and doesn't let any taunts thrown his way actually get in the way of doing what he needs to. When Sigma says he'll come back again, X straight-up says he needs to work on reconstructing the world and doesn't have time to waste on him. It shows that he's really learned from all the tragedy in the series, and doesn't listen to the ghosts of his pasts and enemies and keeps moving forward. Then we get to X7, and he starts going, "Why do Reploids fight one another?" Seriously, how did they mess up his character arc so badly?

I kind of think X6 onward would have been more cohesive stories if they had left Zero "dead" for the Zero series. Show how X takes to now being the only major force left for the Maverick Hunters, maybe taking Zero's Mentor Role for Axel, and how he progressed over time to either the original or the "final" version of the X-Zero lore connections. +D Mas - Uncut As for Zero's ending, the implication is that it's a distant epilogue thing after the rest of the X games, sort of establish for the writers and audience "this is how X ends regardless of what else we do"

Fun Fact: The X Collection version of Mega Man X6 was supposed to have a revised script, but Inafune decided against it, declaring that he would do it in an eventual Maverick Hunter X6, but look how that didn't happen, and so this game's script is forever fucked because of a foresight backfire.

X6's apparent interpretation of X5's ending: The shuttle only managed to destroy the virus within the colony (the main reason why Sigma wanted to crash it on Earth in the first place, to create enough virus saturation in the atmosphere to cause Zero to "awaken"), but not the colony itself. This is why we get a mix of both endings: the colony crashes on Earth and wipes out everything (bad ending), but Zero is still himself and X remembers him (good ending). The colony crashing on Earth in X5 is also consistent with Mega Man Zero 4's plot, where the colony's environment system helps nature recover in crash site and its surroundings - known as Area Zero in Z4.

Also in the untranslated script, it was implied Zero had been rebuilt by the ghost of Dr Wily, like how Dr Light had fixed X at the end of 5. That being said, it was a huge missed opportunity, considering that Gate's entire shtick is reviving dead mavericks.

I don't tbh. I'll always play this before even caring about X5 again. Whenever I bother to record X5 I plan to be the last time I play it, I *might* play X6 long after that... not because it's good (it's fucking terrible) but because I've played games with more BS and I feel it's overhated.

Inafune left the X series before X5 was made, and he had no problem with X6, 7, 8, or Command Mission. The way he made the backstory for the Zero series allowed all of them to fit in perfectly fine with how nebulous it was about when exactly things like Weil and the Mother Elf and X and Zero defeating Omega happened. While X6 does have problems and is nowhere near the best X game, it does have these positives: 1. The Mavericks are cool, and I like that they have in-game backstories and many of them are victims of fear and jealousy which makes them more than just rampaging beasts 2. THE MUSIC. Oh my god, the music, X6 has one of the best MMX soundtracks of all.

The best is definitely X4, it feels like what made the X series so good, it improved tenfold, removing the design flaws in X, X2 and X3. X5 is trash. X6 is also trash, but it's trash I can touch. X7 is trash... but geh, I don't care as much for this one. I do like the Sigma fight though. X8 is also very good, I feel it should've gone fully back to the foundations set on SNES/X4, but it's still a very good X game.

Y'know what sucks? The fact that X sucks with the Z-Saber. In X3, combined with the golden 3rd Armour and every last collectable, the Z-Saber was OP. In this game, you need to get both the Blade and Shadow Armours and beat Blaze Heatnix's annoying stage to earn the Magma Blade to make the Z-Saber as X anywhere near useful.

Now, all jokes and all the rage aside about Zero's return... there's one other piece of dialogue that actually addresses this in X6: There's one Light Capsule that, if opened with Zero (I think it's the one from Infinity Mijinion's stage), will trigger a dialogue between Zero and the Dr. Light's AI hologram: Zero asks if he was the one who saved X (who, at the end of X5, regardless of the ending, was as badly damaged as Zero; not even an arm was left! :P), and if he knows who saved him. Dr. Light says he doesn't know. This suggests that, despite the "I hid myself while I tried to repair myself" fiasco, Zero actually got help, possibly from a virtual Dr. Wily (not entirely unthinkable if we consider how Sigma got help from him in X5).

DarkEinherjar It actually turns out that in the Japanese version, it's explained that Zero was using a recovery system and somehow repaired himself. Like Dr. Light said:"Yours is a miraculous return". It doesn't come completely out of nowhere. In the original Mega Man X, Zero said after blowing himself up to save X from Vile:"Auto repair systems can't handle it".It must be a translation error that says:"I had to wait until I was healed", instead.

This is a plot element used even after X6 in other games, robot apocalypses always have at the helm a self preservation protocol.

X6 wasn't the game that started using X's voice actor for songs. It was X5. And maybe you haven't noticed, but Japanese voice actors very often double as singers since, at least, the 80s (original Macross anyone?)

The singer of the theme songs in Mega Man X6, Showtaro Morikubo, was in the midst of kickstarting his solo-artist career at the time this game was made, and the two songs he had in this game (Moonlight and The Answer, both of which play in the intro) are from his first solo album. He's released several albums since then, and I credit him with getting me into Japanese music.

I felt it had a really good pacing compared to x5, i liked the level designs, the music, i liked shadow armor a lot, i loved blade armor, the boss fights i never bothered finding out the weakness so i they never felt too easy, but they were never too hard either. The part about Zero's control chip being tranferred into a copy body in the Zero series that Ted mentioned was only conceptualized around Zero 2's release as it ties into the whole Elf Wars plot which was never even aluded to in Zero 1. Though it's worth mentioning that the change of Zero 1's main villain from the real X to Copy-X was not only to keep X as a character marketable for future X games, but also due to pushback from Inti-creates staff who grew up with X as a hero and didn't like seeing him become a dictator.

To be honest, in theory, X4-6 has great stories, but X5 is the only one that fully succeeded at conveying its story. X4 has major laps in logic, and relies on drama with character who were just introduced, and barely had any development in game. While X6....Dear God I can barely even understand what any of it's dialog is saying.

The whole thing about Wily is that it's implied Wily's kind of like an AI form like how Dr. Light is. Extra materials pretty much all but implied Serges from X2 may have been a vessel or ally for Wily seeing as he was responsible for the 'full blueprints upgrade' for Zero's restored body, and Isoc is just a vessel for the AI that we see just left behind at the endgame here. Also the "hid myself while I repaired myself" line gets clarified if you find a Light capsule as Zero. He outright admits that he bold-face lied to X to keep his spirits up, and states that he's not entirely sure who actually repaired him, implying that like how Light repairs X, Wily probably repaired Zero.

The worst part is that, nothing was inherently wrong with continuing the X series. Capcom could have easily made more x games while Inafune worked on Zero, which takes place at least a hundred years later anyway. The problem is that they brought Zero back. If every post x5 game was just X, then everything would have been fine.

Don't know if this is just me, but the only thing that irks me about "the line", is the repeated use of "myself", I hid MYSELF while I tried to repair MYSELF. I know the line is also stupid because it would have been impossible for Zero to repair himself all by himself, but to me, the line would be fixed like this: I hid while I tried to repair myself,

To be fair to X6 in regards to how it changed the Zero series, I don’t think it effected X being the villain. They kinda realized mid development that having X suddenly turn into a genocidal tyrant was just a really weird and unsatisfying direction for his character, and opted to do something way cooler with him by splitting him into X and Copy X.

It also strenghtens X as a character IMO. Copy C is a whiny brat who thinks he's always right, he didn't spend all the years under testing X went through. Similarly, Copy X never bothered questioning himself or feeling any empathy, X's greatest strenght is that he's always looking for a better way and trying to quite literally give everyone a happy ending. This is reinforced in Zero's dialog. "A peace built at the cost of the lives of countless innocent Reploids. This place isn't Utopia, this place is just a joke!" And "He always worried about everyone and everything. He cared, that's why he was a hero."

Zero had died before so it wasn't far fetched for him to come back but last time we did the repairs our self. They could made that the entire plot instead of whatever's going on here.

Looking back, I find it weird how the X series has a lot of moments where humans play a big part in the story or the story has something that’ll effect all of humanity but there are no human characters in the games at all aside from Dr. Cain in X2 and X3 in like two scenes. Not even just a nothing background NPC you run into like one time. It just seems kinda weird, and feels like a missed opportunity.

Stylistically, I love X6. And the story had potential, but the translation fucked it up. I will admit to some stages being unfair. The ice blocks at the end of Blizzard Wolfang's stage were bullshit.

Also, there is a few things about Wily I'm feel contradict the Issoc thing. One is that Sigma's virus form is probably constantly near death due to his nature, so I feel he could somehow meet the spirt of Wily mentally. The other thing is that Serges, an X-hunter from X2, also has several hint towards being Wily (especially in the Japanese version, where he regrets being defeated by "the last creation of Dr Light, drives a vehicle like Wily would, and nearly calls X Rockman, which no one ever does)

Also it should be mentioned that talking to Dr. Light as Zero reveals Zero doesn't actually know how he lived, and Dr Light says a miracle (likely the ghost of the Dr. himself) saved him. I will say that "I hid myself while I tried to repair myself" is still incredibly stupid.

I don't understand Shield Sheldon's stage. When I took the path that hides the Light Capsule, I thought I was taking the main path...only to discover it lead to the fight with Ghost Zero! *Then* I find out that Sheild Sheldon is *directly* to the right of the pit i fell down to get to said path! At that moment, I was like, *WTFH?!*

If the playthough were made with the ps1 version of the game, you can hear the background music and, as said, hear the dialogue, in Japanese. I must say, the comic book style makes justice with the background tracks during the cutscenes, very well satisfying and creative.... MOST of the time.

Megaman X6. The most glitchiest game in the entire series. And my second favorite game out of the X series. What's else there is to be said? This game was just a cash grab during the twilight years of the PS1. But there IS some good parts of it. The Music, The POORLY made translation (I hid myself while i tried to repair myself.) and the fact that this was the first X game that had Japanese voice acting for the USA version. Oh and Zero is the ONLY way to have actual fun here. ONLY. WAY.
