Oh man, I really like this video. You want to know why I like this video? It's simple, really, because hearing the reaction of everyone seeing the repeated dialog of Gate is funny. You see, when I heard them laughing, I've noticed I liked the idea of them chuckling at Gate's reoccurring dialog, it was just so silly. Who goes around & repeat dialog like that? The way that Johnny went off after everyone reacted to Gate's reproduced sentence is funny. It's silly to have someone say the same thing in a different way. But I really adored the way everyone reacted to that dude's refashion lines.

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get to the final stage without beating at least one Maverick, unless you collect 3000 souls, because beating High Max requires at least one special weapon.

+IIBass88II x can buster him and i think his saber counts as a special weapon. if not, theres the ultimate armor to kill him in like 5 seconds since its giga after he stunned will lose like half his health in 1 strike. try it, grab the armor, use the nova strike to lift x in yammarks stage, and you got a quick and less tedious way to gate without fighting anyone.

In order to damage High Max, X has to stun him with a level 2 charge shot and shoot him with a special weapon while he's stunned. Giga Attacks from his armors do count as special weapons, but not everyone plays the game with cheat codes like the ones for the Ultimate Armor or Black Zero. I think Shadow Armor's charged saber attack can also damage High Max (which is fair, considering Shadow Armor doesn't have access to special weapons), but you DON'T want to use Shadow Armor X in Gate's Lab 2, even with all those spikes. Reason? The section right after the High Max fight pretty much requires Air Dash, which the Shadow Armor doesn't have. This always bugged me: why does the FUCKING NINJA ARMOR have less mobility options? Zero, on the other hand, needs to use a special weapon to both stun and damage him. I think his Z-Buster might count as a special weapon, but it doesn't matter because High Max never flies low enough for you to hit him with it.

14:15 Thats what makes X4 so great. It's absolutely possible to 100% the game with both characters. X8 is kinda different in that sense but you can still fully power up all 3 characters and beat the game with any of them. I love X8 Also: Cockblock ending in this part but i guess the reason is that next part will be 30+ min. long with 20 of it being the Gate battle WITH JUMPCUTS XD

Ted, fun fact: the developers of the Anniversary Collection was planning on reworking some of the stickier points of X6, like remapping some of the controls for Zero to prevent accidental auto-suiciding, but Capcom specifically said "no", because they were so sure Mega Man Maverick Hunter X would be such a killer app on the PSP, that they were planning on remaking ALL of the old X games in that style, and would fix the issues then. Obviously, the PSP was sort of a flop, and Maverick Hunter X didn't do that well, so it never got done that way, and I guess, out of spite, Capcom continues to refuse to let the developers of the games fix them, like they could've with the X collection.

The Jumper ability is in Blizzard Wolfang's stage, in the alternate path, near the end, over a spike pit with a very low ceiling. You need Shadow Armor, X's ice weapon or good timing with the Nightmare fireballs, so you can take a hit from one and dash over the spikes before your invulnerability ends. But yeah, there's no defending Gate's Lab; no matter how you look at it, it screams "NEEDS MORE PLAYTESTING!" And, if you loved Metal Shark Player's stage as much as I did... oh, boy, it's gonna get even better next part. :P

That thing Gate has is basically Zero's "black box". The source of the Maverick Virus. Which serves to explain why he pretty much never goes rogue again after this point. He can technically function without it but it does raise the question of how that was separated from him almost intact. And really makes the fact that they tossed out what could have been a good explanation for how Zero came back.

"A character will randomly say 'anyway' in Japanese." The word in Japanese is "tonikaku." The word gets translated as "anyway" because there's not really good other translation for it, but the word is actually a superlative when used in this context, which is not a function of singular words in English. When used like this, it adds a lot of emphasis to it and implies he's just become very impatient. Basically, he's saying, "Alright, *THIS TIME* is the last time," by using tonikaku to emphasize it. If you're a good translator, you would actually have the person say something that's not a literal translation of the sentence, but expresses the same idea so that you can convey just how 110% done the person is with this crap. If you're X6, you just have Zero say "But anyway, we're fighting now."

kings stage maybe stupid as mega man but playing as X for X6 makes the WHOLE game feel that way, ESPECIALLY if you only play as no armor X to be fair lewis i'd contest Mario bros 2 was the king of Multiple characters. Each level is designed so that any of the characters can go through it, some just have an easier time or some you just have better control with, knuckles had to have his own areas sometimes cause the way some of the boss fights work it would be difficult for knuckles, like some of the fights in knuckles in sonic 2, ESPECIALLY the final boss.

The Jumper is really easy to find, it this in blizzard wolfang stage in the portal part, it is in the bottom part of the level and there's no risk to lost it, you need the ice power or blade or shadow armor to get it.

The problem is the Blaze Heatnix effect needs to be active in order to reveal the area with the portal. If you were to go to Blizzard Wolfang's stage first, you wouldn't even guess there was an area there. You could even revisit the stage and still be unable to access the area. I think for such an essential part (barring the Shadow Armour), it should be easier to find. It's the game's single biggest flaw. Once you know where it is, I don't really have any problems with the Gate stages as X.

A bit of rather sad trivia for the Mega Man X Collection. Originally it was going to have a lot of changes for the games. X1 would have let you choose an alternate soundtrack, X6's translation problem would have been fixed, all the games would have had touch-ups and fixes and stuff. HOWEVER, because they had the bright idea to start remaking the games on the PSP, all of those ideas were left out to do in the remakes. And because Maverick Hunter X failed and the remake series cancelled, we will never have any of those things.

I actually find the Nightmare Mother fight a complete pain as Zero (I hate having to get up so close and personal), and very manageable as X purely because of a certain eagle attack. As a matter of fact, that attack is great for Hi Max as well, useful against Infinity Mijinion and of course superb against the infamous doughnuts. It's glorious.

Oh, goody this is going to be fun since I am going to be doing both X and Zero when I play this game 100 percent, why do I hate myself? Oh, great Alia's condition is affecting others as well. Funny X5 seems to have not been designed for Zero since Zero cannot possibly get all the heart tanks and probably something else I am forgetting. You can beat High Max as X without destroying his shields as the Blade Armor's charged saber strike is able to stun him through the shields if done from close proximity, then you can simply either use magma blade from the front which passes through the shields as well or meteor rain from below to damage him.

FUCK. THIS. GAME. I'm gonna be honest: first time playing this game, I went through the entire game as Ultimate Armor X. I knew that I was gonna need it when I was going to play this piece of shit. And guess what? Even with the Ultimate Armor, the best armor in the game, I still had a hard as hell time going through this game. Ironically enough, I tried playing as Zero sometimes, and I just had the harder time. I just found playing as Ultimate Armor X better. Also, stupid cutscene is stupid.

I actually managed to beat the Nightmare Mother with the Shadow Armor once. That was once though and it doesn't mean I can manage to do that again. But how I managed it was using it's Giga Attack as soon as it was available (which happens multiple times in the boss because it recharges with damage X takes) and holding up when you jump with it on makes X sky rocket into the air.

Seeing those spiked walls for the first time as X and after minutes of trying then giving up scaling it made me scared of the game back then. After a long time of enduring the 8 main stages, this is what we get at the start, so imagine of what's to come. I took a long break then came back as Zero and got to the boss only to get destroyed by Nightmare Mother.

I like how Ted asks why the Nightmare mother's core doesn't stay inside itstelf *right after* they talked about why it's important to accept momentary leaps in logic for the sake of intuitive game design. Like, were you not just paying attention to yourself? Like, I get it. You want bosses to be designed without this kind of "Expose my weakness" design, but in the end, if that's what you believe in, then I want to hear no shit from you about fighting Yellow Devil without the pause trick.

Also, the Nightmare Mother is actually easier as X, simply because you can spam the Charged Metal Anchor on the damn things when they're standing still and don't hit you...but that's the really the only fucking thing I can give him on this fucking Castle!

Shadow X is actually fine against Nightmare Mother. At least as far as damage goes, anyway. Giga Attack works wonders.

You need at least one special weapon to defeat high max. I think X needs a weapon to destroy the shield, and than his buster to damage Max, while Zero works in reverse (normal attack to destroy shield, special attack to damage him)

actually nightmare devil is way more easy with shadow armor if u have the upgrade that let u use the normal and special weapons without charging u will always use the super strong blade instead of the rapid shots and all u have to do is use your gaiga attack which is super powerful then normal charged saber hit and then gagia attack since it refill every 15-20 sec and another few swings and your done

The way you beat High Max as X comfortably is you have to use a charge shot pushing up as this causes X to perform a charged sword attack which if timed correctly will bypass High Max's barrier stunning him. How do you get this charged attack? Couldn't tell you,I assume it's a feature of the Blade Armor or a random upgrade from a repiolid. Also yes timing the attack is very annoying as you have to be one pixel away from hitting the barrier and if you do it when High Max does his sphere attack it will break into four projectiles, I said a comfortably time not easy.

You know what the Blade Armor can ALSO do that people miss? Dash up. You’ll probably still eat spikes, though. Zero’s just the more tolerable way to play this...

Oh CHRIST Gate took me 40 MINUTES TO BEAT the first time. But I was using Shadow X. Though the Nightmare Mother didn't give me THAT much trouble but X was decked the fuck out and it took a bit of time. Also High Max is a JOKE to Shadow X who if I remember correctly takes a shit load of damage from the Shadow Armor's charge slash.

It's appalling that you need to know how to unlock Zero if you want a reasonable chance to even beat X6. How would casuals or people new to Mega Man in general suppose to beat this game?

StarShade There's also been tons of instances where you are essentially forced to take hits in order to progress, otherwise you take a very high risk of instant-death. And don't get me started on the horrible dialogue in this game. It's like Johnny stated throughout the playthrough, the characters outright repeat what they already said not even two sentences ago! The grammar is bad too: "What makes you laugh?" instead of "What's so funny?" or "What are you laughing at?" At times, it looks like the developers didn't even playtest half these levels, like that instance where there was a hostage hovering right over a bottomless pit at the bottom of the screen.

I'm going to contest the Sonic 3 & Knuckles example up to a certain point. Much as I love that game and I like that every character has their own unique way of getting through the levels thanks to a combination of design and ability... I still think Sonic gets the short end of the stick compared to Tails and Knuckles simply due to his lack of unique abilities. Yeah he can use special powers with shields, but those have limits and are still nowhere near as versatile as flying as tails or gliding, climbing walls, and breaking through specific barriers as Knuckles. I still love S3&K regardless of this shortcoming, but between it and the Advance titles I start to see the fault of every character being a re-skin of Sonic with added abilities, because instead of everyone being able to have their own unique way of progression it just means that Sonic is the vanilla mode(or hard mode, depending on how dick headed the level design is) of the game. Thus why I really like the Adventure games for changing things up between characters by giving them different play styles and goals.

I can understand. The Elemental Shield acts as an power up than Sonic's own ability. The only new ability that Sonic can learn from the game is the Insta Shield, which is pretty useful. But agreed on everything else. But hey. The Elemental Shields are still awesome. And so is Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Part of my hatred for X6 comes from how I actually prefer playing as X than Zero, I just am used to that gameplay style and I find it honestly more fun. So Gate Stage 1 was utter hell. I don't remember how, but I somehow beat the game as X.

+NintenDex You're not alone. I'm more used to X than Zero, though Zero is still awesome in X5 & this game. I remember trying to play as Zero to get past the 1st Gate stage, I couldn't do it. Granted, having the black armour cheat code would have definitely helped & getting the heart tanks for Zero would have helped & definitely getting the upgrades form the hostages would have helped me, but for the life of me I couldn't do it, I was more used to X.

Zumabdeen1247 A big part of that comes from how I like to play games. I like to be more careful, to avoid taking damage whenever possible. So X's more defensive style appeals to me more than Zero's more reckless offensive style. X6 infuriates me especially from how it has the whole "you have to take damage here because we said so" type moments in just about every stage.

My first time playing megaman in a nutshell. You just play for a while and improve. There really isn't anything else to say (except don't fight fire man, elec man, or ice man without weaknesses, and use the pause trick on yellow devil. There is no shame for cheating on that boss.)

+DISnut I personally wouldn't recommend starting off the Mega Man series with the first game. It's got a balancing issue, as others have pointed out with the necessity of following a weakness order to even reach the final stages comfortably. The second game mitigates the issue by making it possible to beat the bosses with your standard weapon without resorting to heavy-duty memorization, but its endgame is punishing for new players. As for your original question, Cut Man and his stage are as close to a "Level 1" as you'll get in the game. Bomb Man's stage is also doable with the Mega Buster.

You know what happened? X and Zero switched roles in this game. Its always been that Zero was considered the "hard mode" of the game. But now X is the "hard mode" and Zero is the normal difficulty. Granted shitty level design and 5-6 month development cycle could do that I guess but yeah X has a hard time in this game. But since it is X6, he has a hellova shitty hard time in this in comparison to Zero in any other X game where Zero is the harder game.

Actually Clement. The ice power with X does work. I know it does because I saw a playthrough a while ago of this game that used X in the ultimate armor all the way through the game. They used the ice block power to get through Gate's stage. Also, I beat that block thing with the Shadow Armor. It sucked, never again.

You guys underestimate Shadow Armor X greatly (minus Gate 2, cause fuck that air dash section unless you got hyperdash and speedster.) Ultimate Buster Shadow Armor destroys everything. He may only do one slash but its one hell of a slash.
