Pity you did not mention her mother Dorian had a sentence of 10 years and she was in jail 4 years because she tried to ruin Mr Markle her ex-husband, even more, you did not speak about how Meghan lied to get the role of Suits, that she confessed in TV. and pictures and videos showed on youtube she was obsessed with Royal Family and proves that she still obsesses with lady DI, dressing, makeup, gestures and so and so. She never presents depression, she lives with him 1 year and after they have a country house outside Kensington Palace, that the media found out, so she never being a victim, the victims were the people who worked for her.

I totally agree with this as an English person I do have one thing to add I do remember how kate was treated when she first joined the family - now she is loved by the press but initially the media painted her as a gold digging commoner who parents were capitalising on the wedding. They seemed to drop this narrative shortly before Megan came into the picture and then pitted them against each other, and claimed to love kate all along. So if you want a real comparison of treatment - I reckon compare the early days of Kate to the early days of Meg to pick up the differences and nauces. Because boy did they hate kate and pippa

Right! Even if you're getting with a famous, wealthy, or even royal person, you have no way of knowing what married life with them will be like until it happens, especially if their family is hellish. I've heard countless stories of abusers not showing who they really were until after they got a ring on the victim's finger. I'm not implying anything about Harry so much as I am talking about the monarchy and media. Still, you never know how things will end when you're still at the beginning. As an American, I had no idea that Britain and the British media are as judgmental and downright racist as they are. I remember thinking "So what? He's marrying a black woman, whoop dee doo!" (not how I think now, but I was a lot less educated then and I have way more understanding and empathy now). I never realized that their marriage was actually a huge deal for Britain, and how upset the media there was over it. I'd be willing to say there was no way Meghan could know how brutal and bad it would be.

Imo, Harry was probably plotting to leave the family for a while. He was just waiting for the right time to do it. And his wife presented him with the perfect opportunity. Who knows, he probably would've stayed inside the royal lifestyle, but I guess he saw how it was affecting Meghan and he didn't wanna see the same thing happen to her, that happened to Diana. Who could blame him for this? I lost my mom, too when I was seven. And we ain't no royals or nothing 💀, but I can completely understand. Going through something like that once is hell. Especially as a kid. But the possibility of going through it again as an adult, when you have a clearer understanding of things-I couldn't imagine.

It's common knowledge that Harry was unhappy with Royal life. It's a lot of work and a lot of pressure. You don't get to pick and choose what parts you want to do and what you don't. It's all or nothing. He finally found someone in Meghan who would stand by his rebellious side. His previous, beautiful white girlfriends have all commented on not being able to deal with the pressure from the press.

Diana and Dodi had been dating for at most, six weeks when they died. This comment makes no sense for several reasons. The press went wild over Dodi because he was from a famous family--his father owned Harrod's, which was THE name in luxury shopping (Fun fact, though less relevant to the British public at the time too, but Dodi was also first cousins, through his mother, with the late Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi). However, in the two years prior to her death, Diana had been dating a Pakistani Muslim heart surgeon named Hasnat Khan, and at one point, discussed marriage with him but he balked at the media attention. They split up in June of 1997 and Diana started dating Dodi in July 1997. Hasnat has gone on record saying that Diana took her contraceptive pills religiously, up to the time they ended their relationship. If she got with Dodi in July, and died at the end of August, it really seems like a HUGE stretch for her to quit taking her pills, have her cycle regulate itself again, and get pregnant all within the span of 6-8 weeks. Even if she had been pregnant, I doubt she would have known herself, let alone the royal family.

Its kinda eerie how similar the UK public's response to the meghan and harry interview is to their response to the Diana interview...I found it super interesting that you brought up that after Diana's death William and Harry were now held very dear by the public, and i think that is part of the reason they are so mad that Harry left, Amber Ruffin put it best "He'd rather be her husband than their prince and they can't stand it"
@JQGLOVER
@JQGLOVER 3 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that this is the viewpoint from across the pond however it's not really accurate at all. After Diana did her interview the public were very much on Diana's side, there were some people who didn't agree with her airing out the Royal families business but majority of the public and press were in her favour. After that interview Prince Charles was told to end their separation with divorce as the relationship was untenable by that point. William and Harry have always been loved and held dear by the public. Their milestones have always been reported in the British press. It was because of the British outpouring of grief and sympathy for those children and Diana why she received a state funeral as the current prime minister thought anything less would be permanently damaging to the monarchy ( not that they didn't care , but their idea was that it should be a private affair for the family) Don't get me wrong there are racist people in the UK and some people did not like her because of her ethnicity , but to be fair when I first saw a picture if her I thought she was Latin American, so I doubt most white people in the UK twigged she was mixed until the press started to talk about her in the news. The biggest issue that people had after the announcement of their engagement was the age difference and the fact that she has been divorced and to cap it all off some people thought the relationship moved too fast (allegedly his brother thought so too), so I think the idea if her being a gold digger was an issue. To be fair after Harry called out the press for some of the racist innuendo reporting that pretty much stopped. The vast majority of Brits who enjoyed their wedding and were excited to see what they could bring to the country , this all happend post Brexit so for alot of people it gave some hope as to the direction we were heading in particular with indicating that the Commonwealth would play a bigger role in the future of Britain. For those who supported them it did feel like a kick in the teeth, however being a working royal is a big sacrifice and if you're not able , willing or capable of working under so much spotlight and critique it's unfair to force anyone to make that sacrifice. They did what was best for them and most reasonable brits after the announcement came to terms with that. What riled some people was the subsequent interviews which some saw as hypocrisy. PS I feel like there is also this desire that people ( US imparticular) want to draw comparisons between them and Edward and Wallis Simpson but without fully understanding the real reason the government imparticular thought it was unsuitable. Edward as well as Wallis were known Nazi sympathiers ( the couple actually toured Nazi Germany after their wedding in France) and supported many of Hitlers ideaolgies , there is significant and plausible evidence that Hitler was planning to use Edward as a way to continue his expansion into Europe, He had already leaked several state secrets the idea of a future king, supporting a force that we previously had been at war. with ( in WW1) was incredibly unpalatable. In a country at the time when everyone went to church on a Sunday and where if he had received his coronation Wouldham been the head of the church of England exposing that his fiance was a divorcee was the less of two evils compared to him giving up the keys to the country to Hitler.

Princess Diana was always loved by British people. Charles not so much, he's been seen as a bit of a weirdo or geek, not relatable in the slightest. So when the interview came out he was seen as the villain. The Crown captured it really well. Also, I've found the press reporting of Meghan and Harry don't accurately reflect public opinion. People I talk to seem to dislike them because they've "bailed" and shouldn't have left the UK, they're "snowflakes". Most people don't care as much as the press want them too. Younger people sympathise more with the couple because mental health is more open and talked about. Older people think they should have "put up and shut up" with all the nastiness being spouted by the press, they shouldn't be doing all these interviews if they want a quiet life. Older people and a certain type of traditionalist are the ones who are hurt by Meghan. I find it weird how some sexist working class non educated males are annoyed by Meghan

I'm really liked and agree with your sentiment at the end: we all have biases and issues; no one is "unproblematic". I think there's this thing where people who are systemically discriminated against don't note their own non-systemic discrimination against other people (an example could be a black person discriminating against an Asian person, perpetuating stereotypes, etc.) as... important, I think I'll put it that way. But, yes, socialisation brought us all up so everyone has things they have to deal with. And that's alright. In my humble opinion. Another thing I saw in another video was a lack of sympathy/empathy for Meghan because she is a light-skinned and biracial and rich. Sometimes, I am concerned by the lack of empathy people have towards others because they have one privilege or the other. Everyone is human and can go through things and invalidating someone else's experience because they are in one socio-cultural-economic group of the other is simply not okay. And not because we all have some privilege (e.g. I'm able-bodied), but because it just is not. Not saying to excuse people - just to not forget to humanize them. For instance, cyber-bullying a person who has been exposed for racist statements is not okay. Sending death threats is not okay, no matter what anyone does. In my humble opinion. Maybe the problems people are having with this couple rests in the fact that, throughout the interview, they twisted things - sometimes to the point of outright lying - to fit the “truth” of their narrative (I.e. that they had to get out for their sanity’s sake because of racism) ...yet, as they said this, they also said that, if the RF had just given them what they wanted (and what they wanted had nothing to do with problems of racism and everything to do with titles and money and entitlement) they’d never have left in the first place. 🤔 Seen from this vantage point, the racism claims appear as nothing more than a convenient hitching post/smoke screen for this couple’s selfishness and immaturity ...made all the worse by airing their complaints on prime time.

@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 3 жыл бұрын
I think his human rights activism happened after Afghanistan. But also, human rights is a vague overarching concept. There are thousands of causes in the world. There are people who are for women's rights, but who aren't for gay rights. And there are those for gay rights, who aren't for trans rights. And there are those for trans rights, who aren't for prisoner rights. There are those for prisoner rights, who aren't focused on the refugee crisis overseas. There are folks who are pro-war & nationalistic patriotism, but who are doing charity for the homeless or activism against sex trafficking. So it's not that much of a contradiction that Harry has done both . Keep in mind that as a Royal, Harry was most likely never on the frontlines. He was in protected zones performing other menial tasks and military duties. I doubt he's had to confront war and its consequences in the same way that other soldiers (who are the sons & daughters of working class folk) have had to face.

@@zq5127 The male Royals literally HAVE to partake in some form of military or navy activity when they're young. It's not a choice, and given the environment Harry grew up in, I imagine he probably did enjoy his time in the military, and he probably saw it as doing his part on behalf of the Queen (which is exactly what he was doing). I'm not making excuses (because I don't think the royal family need anymore excuses and I'd be happy for them to be abolished once the Queen dies), but you should realise it isn't a choice for them.

As naive as it may seem, her not googling his family or his previous life experiences is...healthy. Like, if she trusted their mutual friend, she's not worried about abuse from him, so there's no 'background check' element that we sometimes google for. And then anything about his mom and all that should be heard from him when he was ready. That's a relationship built on treating him like a person and not a spectacle. That's what I might do if I were about to start a genuine friendship with a famous person's kid or something - not avoid things entirely (pretend I'd never heard of their drama), but kind of hit 'reset' on my perceptions once I'm committed to having a real friendship. Anything else would be fraudulent. Edit: researching about the job in general though, that's something I'd expect, especially from a university-educated person who would likely assume the job to be complex. I think that's where people's wires get crossed and then end up saying she should've known what she was getting into entirely, when they mean she should've known how the culture around Harry is, not Harry himself. I think it's a bit too close to saying it's her fault though, which it absolutely isn't, especially when she did every decent thing she could.

I agree with nearly everything, and I think Harry did the best job of prepping Meghan for her expected role that he could. However, she was in a fairly unique position, with really only Kate Middleton, Sophie, Duchess of Wessex, (and... ummm... MAYBE Bea and Eug.. but they grew up in it??) able to give her guidance. How willing were they to help? I remember Sophie being an adult coming in to her relationship with Edward, so I hope she was able to clue Meghan in on how to transition from competent, capable adult to locked away princess. But no one in recent memory has had to fight the racial issues, the infantalizing, AND the social media toxicity at the same time.
