I applaud the "new handle" for this press. If using that longer handle then you really need a different tool tbh. Speaking of needing a different tool ...that bearing in the test needed full diameter support to reach the outer race for pressing. 💡

Great Project But major mistake at the end. If you are pressing a bearing into a hole, just musst press on the outer ring, otherwise you could destroy or damage the bearing.

Home of the singing sand on LAKE MICHIGAN and the now defunct WESTBANK bar where my band 24k played in the mid 80's. We slept on the beach or in our 40' school bus in the state park. Our booking agent's name was Kevin Meyers who is now a professional concert promoter. I remember seeing large DAKE presses on the COAST GUARD docks nearby. Didn't know they were manufactured there. 🙂✌️❤

I had a thought while watching you paint the raised letters. Maybe you could try covering the letters with Plasticine or Blu Tack and then using a small roller to roll the plasticine until the letters show through. This would perfectly mask the letter edges and when the paint is dry just peel it away to show perfectly painted letters. It's got to be easier and neater than freehand painting. All the best and thanks for the videos.

That really turned out fantastic. I cannot believe you were able to get it working again without any major parts. The way it used to work you could have got it done without no parts but the way you went was really worth the time and expense. That is actually something you could keep in your home. I know around holidays people put peanuts out this would make a good nutcracker. I just don't know with how good it looks that I would want to use it in the garage. If anything I would keep it on my workbench in the house. That one I don't get so involved is dirty crazy parts I normally do more electrical work in the house on my bench and gunsmithing. Cannot wait until your next project.

Nice. A very common and useful mod for these is to mill or grind the bottom two teeth off of the ram to allow it to ratchet in the full up position. This allows you to position the handle better for leverage.

Using a Torx bit on an Allen head bolt is risking stripping them both. Also, the "new handle" is too short. There's a reason these things have such long handles.
