I absolutely agree! I’ve seen comments by ignorant people, who see a homeless person, especially if they have an addiction, and assume they’ve done nothing but party, all their lives. If you actually get to know them, like I did when I was on the street, most of them worked hard all their lives, until they hit a bump in the road, either a painful illness or injury, a tragic loss, severe trauma, or sometimes all three! Someone this lady’s age shouldn’t have to work anymore, and should be housed, period. So should people with disabilities, like Angela. Not in a dangerous shelter or one where the workers look down on you, which they usually do. Sometimes, they’re abusive. You don’t need more than a high school diploma or GED to work in shelters, and the workers don’t receive training in working with special populations, unless it’s a battered women’s shelter, and sometimes not even then. I’ve worked in shelters, after staying in several, myself and going to college for Sociology. A lot of hardships and poverty put people on the streets, besides drugs. I’ve known people who had great accomplishments (a Ph.D, a woman who was a doctor in Mexico but her degree wasn’t recognized in the United States, etc., and plenty of well educated people).

So should the families, I know it’s hard and some don’t want to deal with each other for various reasons . But, there has to be some way to deal with this homeless situation. 😢 I don’t have the answe so I’m not judging either side- but, we all need to help find a solution 😔🤔😔

What strikes me most about Melissa is her spirit, she always has a good energy about her. Great insight into her life and her mind, great humor. She’s honestly happier and more thankful than many people who aren’t struggling with health, addiction or homelessness. Prayers for her and fingers crossed she gets her flat ❤

Oh my goodness, my heart breaks for her because I have witnessed myself firsthand this very experience. My elderly mother had surgery on her hip and it became neurotic..... the worst pain ever in my mothers life!! Once said neurotic hip replacement was removed. She immediately felt 75% better.!!! Hang in there lady, there is light at the end of the tunnel and you no longer need the those nasty drugs!!! YOU CAN DO IT, I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!!!!

Have had decades of painful back issues affecting my ability to walk. Took all the prescribed medications, treatments, injections and was still wary of having a severe attack when walking. Existence was a demoralising battle and thought my future was a wheelchair too, but fought for risky operations against medical advice, the third of which actually brought some decent relief, so I weaned myself off most drugs. Somehow fortunately avoided addictions. Nothing is perfect, and I have to be careful, but I now rejoice every day that I can walk mostly pain free and will never ever take it for granted. People who have not experienced long term chronic pain would find it hard to truly empathise with the predicaments some find themselves placed in. To see this poor lady in a wheelchair after suffering for so long, only to be reduced to homelessness breaks one’s heart. If more people cared enough and pressured the authorities and governments then surely this shouldn’t be so.

Just for the record I live with in a retirement community parents in AZ and people 70 plus are living their best lives. In terms of tennis, pickleball, jogging, swimming, lifting weights, etc. Better than many 20 somethings. Ain't nathan fair don't get it twisted.

I had a total hip replacement and I believe the pain killer they gave me was far worse than the surgery. I will never take those pain pills ever again. The side effects from them far exceeds the pain.
