But if I eat that many carbs I will have to kill it in the gym like you right? Not everyone at our age can workout like you! So therefore they need to cut the carbs a bit ..

All fruit and veg are carbohydrates. High starch veg have a higher GI. I used to low carb/keto, lost weight but over time gained cellulite on my arms which I’d never seen before! And the leg cramps from lack of magnesium is what made me get off keto. Now I keep protein and fibre high, include some healthy fat and carbs are moderate. I feel the best I’ve ever felt! Thank you very much Mellissa! I always appreciate your content❤ I am a person who is absolutely addicted to carbohydrates. I have to eat my protein early and then I can have my carbohydrates later in the day. I know this is not recommended being that I workout early, bit being honest with myself, once I have my carbs early, I find that it's very difficult for me to control myself for the rest of the day, so I have learned, protein early...carbs later😊

It is about 30-40% of total calories from carbohydrates from your total macros. It would be helpful to check your total daily macros so you can get a precise amount. I've made a video on how to calculate your macros here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGiqp2CBZpt6bqs

Plant based carbs maybe ok 👍 but refined carbohydrates like bread 🥖 pastas could be problematic. Many of the carb’s always left me bloated, weight gain and extra hunger.

Refined/processed carbs like bread, pasta, potato chips, sweets, etc.are the ones that cause inflammation. Unprocessed, whole food carbs like fruits and vegetables are way less likely to cause inflammation.

If carbs work you than keep doing that. Carbs don’t make everyone feel well. I’m one of those people, I feel my best eating protein and fats. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. If someone is doing a proper keto or carnivore nutrition plan eating enough protein, fats, balance electrolytes and weight training muscle maintenance should not be a problem and could gain muscle. I am age 51, on Carnivore, my lifting sessions are amazing and better than when I ate carbs. I am no longer on a blood sugar/insulin roller coaster.

@@SilenceInTheBliss If you are over age 40 and your goal is to gain muscle focus on eating 40 grams of protein at each meal, add fat if needed plus weigh training. I usually have 3 meals a day sometime 4 if I’m still hungry. I can not eat a pound of meat at one meal, I rather eat when I’m hungry.

I’m Postmenopausal 60 next year. I manage to stay the same weight as I was in my 20s , flat belly….most of the time ..however the only time I start to put on weight and bloated belly is when I take more than 20% carbs and eat more than two meals . What works best for me is high protein, fats and low carbs ,sometimes near zero on my rest days when not working out.

Thanks for explaining this. I’m on the ketogenic since last year losing over 11kgs. I have to abstain from refined carbs by 70-80% as I always end up addicted eating more often, weight gain and feeling sleepy. I do eat minimal amounts of sour dough bread 🥖 once in a while or small portions of pasta gluten free. I incorporate intermittent fasting too a few days a week along with strength training exercises.

Hello, what if I have fasted a lot and am still afraid of gaining fat? My fat is probably at 30% at the moment but I do strength training every day, 6 times a week. I've set my calories to 1700 every day for 3 weeks to see if I'm losing or gaining weight. I've gained 4 kg and don't know what to do anymore. I weigh 63 kg and am 1.60 cm and I just want to see my muscles. I eat 120g of protein a day, 60 of fat and 100 of carbohydrates. thanks for all the tips. Question: Should I do a cut, lose fat and then go to build muscle?
@MelissaNeill
@MelissaNeill 2 күн бұрын
It sounds like you’ve been working really hard, and it can be frustrating to gain weight when you're aiming for fat loss and muscle definition. It's important to remember that weight gain doesn't always mean fat gain. Since you’ve been doing strength training, part of that 4 kg might be muscle and water retention, especially if you’ve increased your carb intake. Muscle growth requires some time, so be patient with the process.
