It's very encouraging for me to find more and more women over 40 who are in fantastic shape and continue to strive towards being strong. I want this viewpoint to be more common so people don't assume that life is downhill after 40. I'm 51 and in a physically demanding, male dominated field. I find myself not wanting to say my age because I don't want to be labelled or babied. I hear people younger than me saying 'getting old sucks'. My thought is I'd rather not die young so getting older is normal and I want a full life. Thank you to all the women out there who show us that we can have strong, defined muscles and be super active later in life.

Thanks Melissa. Need this so much. Two years ago I had body I wanted. Perfect abs, lovely toned arms & legs - and then the menopause hit and it all went to pot. I’ve started doing my sets of 21s again with my barbell , I’m just struggling with being more strict with my diet. I’m not overweight just out of shape. Need to discipline myself more x

I burned off 17 lbs in the last 6 months since I started following your advice to add strength training to my workout regimen. It's not exclusive to you yet, it definitely started with your programs and watching your videos. I went from a 10-12 to an 8 and I'm 45.

Your “before” pic is exactly what I have right now at age 49. Always had a flat belly, but now it just won’t get flat no matter how much weight I lose. So much is cortisol for me, sadly, due to extreme stress. Then add in age, and it’s the perfect storm.

I'm 1.7m tall and weigh 72kg. I'm 55 today and starting strength training today. Been vegan for 5 years and I only eat when I feel hungry - eat to live, not live to eat. I dropped from 86kg to 72kg in one year only JUST cutting out vegan junk and processed foods. I love everything you say

I want to thank you Melissa for your dedication to peri and menopausal women. I am 47 years old. Weight train 4 days a week consistently for the last 9 months. I have lost 15 lbs and 5 inches around my waist. I have realized from listening to your advice that I must greatly increase my protein intake. My waist is smaller, but I noticed I look to be two different sizes looking at myself from the front vs the back. I carry all of my excess weight in the back, triceps, but, hamstrings. Looking at myself from the front, I couldn't understand why I couldn't fit comfortably in my blazers. Then I took video of myself and was shocked. I have never gained weight in my triceps and back. I tracked my macros and realized I'm eating 400 carbs/day and only 50 grams of protein/ day. I realized listening to you, I must flip my ratios. Thank you for your generous work. We are listening. ☺🙏💜

I’ve listened to well known individuals that have not been this clear about female bodies. You are an inspiration but the thing I’m impressed the most about is your precision when explaining exercise and nutrition. This is spit on. I am 56 and had blocky Abbas as I was doing exercises that all these instagram and body builders show. Weighted ab exercises. They are a no no if you have a certain body type. Some can do this and they are fine but for me it looked blocky. I stopped and used body weight only. Now I have a tiny waist and tight abs but a lovely hour glass shake instead of a square manly look. For the body weight training but you must do cardio. This is a must for us older ladies. Do not let your age determine who you are. I am fitter than I ever was 30 years ago.

Everything i have seen or read about DR is to avoid planks and legs raises. I never understood or agreed with it. Glad to see you recommend these exercises.

I started strength training last year in my 50s. I had 2 C sections and it feels like my abs are the slowest to get in shape. Thanks for the tips about diet and a waist trainer. I will wear one when I lift at the gym tomorrow. Thanks.

So glad I found you. I workout 6 days a week (strength, HITT and cardio on Friday and Saturday) all 45 mins to and hour with decent results but not where I want to be. Refused to give up and now I found you! Can’t wait to order your meal plan cuz I know it is what I need to get me over the hump. I’ll be 54 this year and am more optimistic than ever!

Hi fam!! Melissa you are a god send for me at this point in my life. I am 61 and am very inspired by your videos. You help me remember that I am also a beautiful, sexy and vibrant woman. It’s just gotten hidden under depression,flab and fat. I started lifting weights and dieting one month ago. I have lost 6 pounds and am building definition. I also do HIIT. Thank you again. But I am being consistent in weighing my food and doing my best to get to 170 grams of protein. That has been a challenge. But I am trying. I keep going back to your videos and getting inspired. @@proanimaluver6487 I have been eating more eggs, making protein oatmeal, shakes, and in general more lean meats, and nutrient dense foods. I try to aim for 30 grams or more per meal but still come up short with snacks and such.

Nice to see you talking about this. Don't agree with the diet though. I have flat abs, in your age bracket,(better body than in my 20's) I love and enjoy my food. Good Nutrition is essential, reduce sugar, processed foods and eliminate any food that is an allergy for your body. I love juicing veg. Reducing and managing stress is major, mediation, sound.. enjoy every day. Pilates, weight training and aerobics are essential.

Your videos are so helpful to me, I had been lifting heavy weights and walking on the treadmill for 6 months and was still not losing weight. I am in medical menopause. I started doing your meal plan and doing HIIT instead of the treadmill and the fat is starting to fall off like never before. I am starting to see the muscle I’ve built these past few months😊

Thank you Melissa for giving us this information as the fitness industry is geared towards young women and doesn't think about us older women at all. My biggest battle is my diet, as I eat healthily but I have a massive sweet tooth and the craving in the evening is sooooo bad! So if I can't get control I will never get rid of this horrible flab on my belly!

You are really amazing. I am 60 now and have been doing strength training and Zumba fitness for a long time. Strength Training I started in March 2020 and keep doing it. I have gotten great results, but I still have my belly fat. I seem to feel uncomfortable with heavier weights above 10lbs! I have been using 3lbs to 10lbs for different exercises. I just feel that the other weights are way too heavy. I could definitely use your coaching. I would love to talk with you because I am thinking about possibly prepping for a show out here in Arizona.I love all your assistance with the macros. I really have to study it more than before. I do have all the measurement tools ,and I do meal prepping on Sundays for 4 days.

I just love your energy and determination. As almost 40, I can see that healing gut issues (inflammation) is a player in my having a tight and happy core. That, diastasis recti repair and having pelvic floor therapy and engagement from having all the babies. I feel so seen by your experience thank u!!💕💕♥️💕♥️💕

Pelvic floor: I'm a 70 yr old mom of 3. I skip or gallop about a block a day while I'm out walking my dogs. I'm the only one among my friends who doesn't depend on Depends! LOL

Excellent tips! Most of these I knew about, but the stomach vacuums I will start to do everyday when I wake up. I will also wear the waist trainer when I strength train as well!

I made the mistake this week of thinking your goblet squat was so easy I needed to do it 4 times. I could barely walk for 2 days! And I’m an ice hockey goalie (started at 55+). It certainly showed all the places my regular workout was missing! Still have a little fat roll I want to get rid of. Currently working on making sure I am more reliable on my protein intake. Got your app plan on my wish list (just started a new Prof position; only part time right now).

Hi Melissa. I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your content of vital information for ALL women. I've been watching your videos every day all day ever since I discovered you on here 2 weeks ago. You're not only very informative but you look fantastic and are a perfect example of what you put out there. 💪👏🏋‍♀️ And the information you have put out there has put me on a different track and given me a different mindset about myself, even though I've been working in health-care for the past 20 years. And up until about a month ago, my specialty was Obgyn🤨. I now work Neurology. So I've been seeing one of the gyn docs for about 10 years that I used to work in the same office with and she has not to this day, touched on nearly as much info as you've given. She's a specialist in her field and told me in my late 40s after I went to her about problems that I was experiencing with sleeplessness and hot flashes and brain fog, she said to me that I was too young to be going through menopause and therefore gave me NO ADVICE and NO HELP. I didn't mention anything else to her about it the next few years and just dealt with my symptoms as best as I could. So fast forwarding to 2021, I finally mentioned to her again about my symptoms, in which more symptoms had been added to previous ones over the years and she gave me estrogen and progesterone without doing any blood work. Never even bothered to check my hormone levels at all🤦‍♀️. However, I took the prescriptions but never used them bc I did not want to be on anymore meds and thought to myself that it's past time that I should be looking for another gyn specialist 🤔. I was so disappointed and outdone with her at this point😕😖😤. Not sure why I did not do the research on my own about menopause especially since I worked right there, but I mainly dealt with mostly women who were pregnant 🤰. Anywho, I came to the point of just finding another gyn bc I did not like the way I had been treated by her all those years. She did not listen to what I'd told her about my body and she did not take the proper steps to treat my problem. And then I happened upon one of your videos a couple of weeks ago. God sure works in mysterious ways huh 😄🙏. And so, I thank you again for doing the leg work and then sharing your info with us. I just started this week on one of your 20 min workout plans. Tried a couple of meals and working on trying the others I've seen so I'm a work in progress and excited 😊 about it bc there are no drugs to take. Everything is all natural and I have faith that it will work for me❣️💯 Keep up the great work and keep sharing bc I'm truly inspired 👍👏🙏💖💖😍. God bless!!!

Ahhh! Thank you for clarifying why my abs seem to protrude more even though I've been doing ab exercises and restricting my diet now for 2 1/2 years. I'm 56 and been in menopause now for about a year and a half. I work out daily doing a combination of HIIT exercises and strength/toning ones. I was getting discouraged though because it seemed as if even though I don't seem to be gaining belly fat, I am wider through my midsection. My clothes are tighter than they were a year ago, despite the fact that nothing has really changed (except menopause) about my diet and exercise routine. I do need to incorporate more protein though. Thanks for all the helpful tips. Menopause really wreaks havoc. We don't realize when we're young how all those hormones really play a part in keeping us thin and fit.

Consider diastasis recti as many ab exercises damage the stomach muscles and do not allow for flat abs

Thank you so much for sharing what has worked for you. I know we are all different; however, I am definitely going to try this. I am pre-menopausal and have had a hysterectomy, in addition to having diastisis recti. So hopefully this will help.

I'm 37 and was diagnosed with severe reflux due to excess abdominal fat. I've already lost 30lbs but have so much more to go. I cant do a waist trainer because the pressure on the stomach is too much at my current inch amount but maybe later? I'm eating keto and doing pilates and hope that in a year, my body will be radically different. Thank you for all of this info!

Hey Melissa, having been doing two jobs IT and PT for many years ( even examined on the courses), the theory was there and I thought it was locked in. Fast forward to 47 and notice changes. Beating myself for not working out faily, fasted cardio and longer working hours and then insomnia. My old school training of body parts and fasted cardio just stopped having any affect on my body. I love your content and the honesty, even in this video where you say Arnold does the vacuum better than you! Honesty. Im rewiring myself as of today. My utopia would be you partnering with Jim Stoppani!

I love your personal email stories. Thanks for sharing your information with us 👐 although I've lost weight from 19stones in 2019 to 2022 I still struggle with losing body fat. Everyone says I don't need to lose more weight, which is true, but trying to get them to understand its body fat I want to lose they keep asking me if I'm sure I'm not having body dysmorphia 😏🤦‍♀️

Hi Melissa! Love your videos! So after loosing that belly fat how did you fix the excessive skin ?? Did you do radiofrequencie or something like that? I know that gaining muscle will help to filled some of that skin, but not all of it. Can you give us some tips on that? Thank you gorgeous!

Hi is a pleasure meeting you thank you for the info i am 62 years old and i have R/A so for me doing push up is hard because my hands and left knee they horrible hurting i also have thyroid wich makes me gain weight not mention steroids meds what can i do for excersise and get rid this weight at my height i am obese and i never been that overweight i am so heartbroken my muscle are hurting with lifting and use of hands...

Do you have any tips on push-ups. And pull-ups. I've never been able to do them. I've lifted weights off and on for years but never seemed to have the strength for them. I'm 44 in the process of getting back in shape after letting myself go the past couple years. Started Feb 9th and already down about 20 lbs from eating right and lifting. Can't wait to see my abs again.

Try the pushups on your knees love until you build up your strength .. for pull ups do assisted pullups at the gym or if not possible to get to gym use weights to do bicep curls and back rows .. best of luck 🤞🏼 stay consistent

Hello Melissa, I really appreciate all your wonderful advice. I usually don't make comments on videos but I definitely would like to let you know how valuable all the information you provide is for women over 40. I'm almost 48, and even though I am not overweight, I have noticed my body needs lots of toning and all the information you share is wonderful guidance for people like me that are starting a new fitness chapter. Cardio doesn't cut it for me no longer and mild weight lifting is surprisingly effective 😅

Melissa keep the content coming it’s so inspiring. I’m concerned about eating too much and not burning more calories than lm taking in. I can’t excercise twice a day like l want to burn the fuel that lm taking in so should l eat less meals or just keep eating the four meals a day

I'll have to try this one! Some of the videos I do are by IMI's Bigan Yoga. Then I saw one of hers titled, "Lose 4'' in 10 days". I def' had to prove that was crazy and call it out in a comment, right? So, for research purposes, I had to try it. It took 2 weeks cuz I skipped a few times. BUT...I lost 3.5'' on my waist! The routine's beginner's level, with some standing knees raises and some good old school days 'windmills'. I did it...and I'm almost 70, so u can, too! i also like Milana's "Do these Moves Every Morning"
