I just didnt get how do you mean to get a half step idea in 13:14 ! you meant to move up the arpeggio half step to get altred sound of G7#5 ?
@Mikkokosmos6 жыл бұрын
Ali Lotfi no I meant that I play the B maj7#5 over the G and then move it up a half step so that I end up on a Cmaj7#5. Even though I said earlier that I didn't like the melodic minor mode (lydian aug) over the C but in this case it kind of works 😁

Ibanezguitars hi there. I'm in the process of setting up do I can do that! I'll make an announcement regarding that and my Patreon account in my next video.

Mayne obvious but there is another Palace on the root of the dominant to play half dim arp. Of course Mikko knows this this for guitarists that aren t aware OR myself to remind me the imversions on the Altered chord of those Bb m7 b5 Both Cm7 b5 are tricky
@WBUSCH492 жыл бұрын
Also I would recommend studying the arpeggio s of 4 Tones over the the hole neck but with a 6 paterns to it as FE C Ab FE( lower) and C Ab FE CAb this creaties a Nice hemiola so it swinhs against the beat

These are great mate but haven't heard someone say for example D split? are you referring to D-7b5? where does the term split come from?
@Mikkokosmos2 жыл бұрын
Yes m7(b5) the old chord symbol is a circle for dim and a split circle for m7(b5) maybe it's a canadian thing they say it there it's easier to say than minorsevenflatfive

Hey Mike great video thanks! Can I ask why you think only the 1 3 6 modes of the Mm scale work and the others don't? Is it just a matter of the ambiguity that the others make as to which notes to include in four note arpeggio to give it 'that sound' ?
@Mikkokosmos4 жыл бұрын
Hmm I don't understand the question 🙄what dors 1 3 6 refer to? All the modes of melodic minor work. Is there something in the video that I'm saying that you're refering to? If so where? 🙂
@StantsLOL4 жыл бұрын
@@Mikkokosmos My wording may have been weird sorry. At around 4:24 there's a chart of the diatonic 4 note chords to the melodic minor scale . You say that only 3 of them are really functional as arpeggios or "work" as arpeggios as you put it. The 3 you say that work are modes ImM7 III∆#5 and VIø. Why is that?
@Mikkokosmos4 жыл бұрын
@@StantsLOL oh I see. Yeah the all work but yhe ones I picked are the ones that defines the melodic minor sound. For example: if you have C melodic minor. The notes you need are Eb and B! Those are the characteristic notes of that sound. If I play a Dmin7 arpeggio I don't get those notes. So it wouldn't give me the melodic minor sound. If that makes sense?
@StantsLOL4 жыл бұрын
@@Mikkokosmos Okay yes that makes sense. But the VIø only contains one of those two 'needed' notes (the Eb) just like the VIIø only contains one of those needed notes (the B). So why does one have more applications than the other? To me those two arpeggios could both be a bit ambiguous to what they're implying and not necessarily jus the Cmelodic minor scale
@Mikkokosmos4 жыл бұрын
StantsLOL A is also good. You want to avoid the B and F tritone I guess because that implies the dominant. The 1st, 3rd and 6th degree of a scale give you the tonic chords, right? I might make another video on this since the audio in this one is so bad anyway 😐

Do I see it correctly that in the last example (from Maj7(#5) to Maj7(b5)) you use the 6th (and not a maj7) in the written arpeggio's?
@Mikkokosmos7 жыл бұрын
I hope not? Where do you see this? :)
@andrevanscheers7 жыл бұрын
In the last example in your linked pdf. If I am correct I see under C7(b9) written: Bb Dd E Ab. I understand that as Emaj b5. So I read E G# Bb C#. For me de Db turns out to be a 6th in E major and thus not the maj7. So I don't understand the Emaj7(b5) as substitution.
@Mikkokosmos7 жыл бұрын
Oh I see there is a mistake in the PDF..thanks for letting me know. Sometimes this happens when I copy and paste too much :/ Let me fix that over the weekend! The example showing on screen should be correct.

@Mikkokosmos2 жыл бұрын
Man, this video is meant for those who understand music theory. Tabs are great for licks and stuff but not in this case. I often use tabs in my videos but when I'm explaining theory I don't. If you can't read music, how are you going to understand the chord/scale relationship? There are plenty of videos on KZbin for beginners. I make advanced videos.
