I usually say "have soup". But it's good to know the differences between eat soup and drink soup. And there is also an interesting debate among the English-speaking people as well

This is the fun/difficult part about learning a new language. In every language, there are saying and word usage that don't make sense if mapped (and no I don't mean translate) to another language. The example here is "eat soup" in English and "drink soup" in Chinese. One just has to learn these "idioms" and "sayings". One mistake a lot of Hong Kong english student make is trying to learn a lot of vocabulary and big words without knowing how to use them properly. If you really want to improve your English (or any lauguage you are learning), go to the country for a holiday, interact and talk to locals. Don't worry that your English is very basic, the locals are all very forgiving. You will also notice that the locals do not care about bad grammar (or even no grammar at all). In fact, to English teachers, a lot of the locals actually soeak very bad English and use very limited vocabulary. While you are travelling, try to readl the local newspaper. In the UK, there are now many free newspaper. And guess what, the English use is very simple, and seldom do they use big words.

"Change" and "get a new one" are not always interchangeable. "Wash clothes" is perfectly good since we use "washing machine" to "wash clothes". If you look up the dictrionary, "laundry" is a noun meaning "collection of things that need to be washed" or "a shop/place where said items are washed". "Doing the laundry" is not common in non-American influenced english.

"Medicine" actually has 2 different pronunciation. Med-di-cine usually used for example "I am studying medicine in university". For pills/drugs meaning of medicine it often is pronounced without saying the "i" so it sounds like "med-san". For example the doctor may ask "did you take your med-san" is used in normal conversation.

orange flavoured soft drink. If you ever tried "Greenspot" soft drink it has no bubbles. Usual brand names like Sunkist or Fanta it is understood as "orange flavoured soft drink". Same if I say 7UP or Spirit you should known I want lemonade soft drink.

The meanings of both are similar, it’s just that when the collocation “wash clothes” is used, it usually refers to people washing their clothes by hand (instead of using a washing machine)

一半一半，照講eat soup 係因為一來佢哋習慣咗食湯，唔會理點解用個食字，就好似我哋打電話，都唔會一拳打落去，亦唔會去理點解係打，二來中湯都有固體食材，佢哋覺得係湯嘅一部份，要食埋。會講drink 嘅，係對食物有研究，嚴格嚟講，中湯唔係 soup, 係consumme, soup 係會加入一啲 thickening agent, 好似澱粉，薯仔， cream 之類，令到個湯係杰身,consumme 就好似中湯咁，好似水嘅形態，稀身嘅，又或者外國人嚟自一個佢哋自己語言都係講飲湯嘅地方
