Only 6 minutes in and I can relate so much! I'm an empath who has always been highly sensitive. My father was also an alcoholic and was abusive to me, my mother was abusive to me as well. They saw my sensitivity as a weakness, and it's taken until now, aged 44, to see it as a quality to be proud of. I hope that I somehow help others feel seen, heard and that they belong. ❤❤❤

“People just want to be heard” is the exact thought that has been running through my mind. Nobody, not even your friends and family want to listen to your pain more than once. The “get over it” and “just move on” comments are like daggers to the heart.
@cesardominguez7529Күн бұрын
And what is sad is those comments of “get over it” and “just move on” generally stem from them not being heard as well. It is an endless cycle that goes on like generational trauma. It’s about breaking that chain. There will always be someone willing to hear us! 🫶🏻

@@michellemcdermott366yes. I look for the opportunity. Always treating people I pass along the way. Helping people in stores that are looking for something. Taking carts back for people at the grocery store. Because why not. I have had a lot of great interactions with others over the years. There are others that talk to me as well. A lot of people are lonely or going through something or maybe having a rough day. And sometimes I am and someone's kindness pulls me out of my own head. It is a powerful thing to spread love to others. Listen to a piece of their story and offer them some of yours. ❤ Humanity is a hopeful place. Far more kindness out there when you look for it or intentionally spread some your self.

What a beautiful soul Dr. Doty is. I was nearly in tears within the first few minutes as his compassion and empathy are genuinely palpable. As a Christian, I have been interested in manifestation, but reluctant to practice it because of all the woo that he addressed. I loved the simplified concepts of Fear-Mode and Heart-Mode as it made me think of the passage, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”. I’ve also heard it said that anxiety and gratitude cannot exist in the same brain at the same time, which totally resonates with the idea of us living either within our para-sympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. I couldn’t help to also think of this verse, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” very much the same as bringing the things of our conscious or subconscious minds into the reality of our worlds. Thank you so much for this talk. It means the world to me and I am greatly appreciative. 🙏❤

This interview is the MOTHER of all interviews! I had thought that my being an empath as a form of weakness. I never understood why I had so much empathy for others. I have many takeaways from this content. Life can be heaven on earth, and it starts with unlocking the door to our prison which we had created for ourselves. Practice the techniques to live from a place of self love. Help one person a day feel their worthiness, and feel special. It's okay to want material goods so long as your not expecting the material to define your self-worth. I feel light, and fresh. Thank you to Mel Gibson for asking such amazing questions. Huge thanks to Dr. Doty!

I shed a tear watching this. I have experienced most of what this man has experienced. And still experiencing trauma at age 64....what i would love to know is...1. When one changes mindset, how long does your manifestation take to come to life? And 2. Why does negativity manifest at super speed when something good/positive can take a long time, or never?
@LindaKayHolevas3 күн бұрын
Manifestations can take years once you’ve changed your mindset because changing your mindset is a continuous process because limiting beliefs are constantly coming up. This is why the negative energy seems to go at super speed because it’s our inner talk for most of us. It takes 17 seconds for a thought to join with another thought (law of attraction) & it goes from there. Most of us really need to practice positive thoughts so more positive thoughts can join them. It takes time to stop the negative thought cycle. I know this because 7 years ago I was addicted to pain pills & had lost everything. I started a mindfulness practice, got sober & have now been sober for 6.5 years. I have a beautiful relationship with my children & family (I’m almost 60), I live in a beautiful apartment, drive a nice car, etc, but most importantly, I am at peace & I am truly happy. It took work though. I started with meditating every day, then I started walking at least 4 miles every day & it went from there. I hope this helps answer your questions! I am sending you so much love & light. 🥰

I've used the technique repeatedly over the decades and no one can tell me it doesn't work because now, at the age of 69, I've seen it work time and time again. Oh, and I must be a real weirdo because I've never had negative inner self-talk, not even when I was a kid, and I am quite thankful and grateful for that.

After years of unwavering confidence.. the last couple of years it's gone-my age showing, the sudden loss of my son (unknown heart issue) lost interest in my job, barely working...I have been brought to my knees. @@TraceyBillsHomes I am so sorry for the loss of your son. Yes, of course, I've had my own fair share of losses over the decades (widowed at 33 after 11 years of marriage among many other setbacks). One of the best episodes. I didn’t know Dr. Jim Doty. Thanks for sharing, thanks for navigating us through so much wisdom with your questions, short recaps and your sense of humour of course :) Really inspiring. I listened twice and took notes. Just legend. 🙏

Mel, you are a master at this. Every question that pops up in my brain while listening, you ask. It’s amazing. The way you translate what the doctor is saying is right on and really brings understanding home. Thank you for your work and care!

INTERESTING discussion around minute 50.... being in huge debt and yet, giving money sacrificially anyway.... I have found this to be VERY TRUE. Keep going!

Thank you for giving me the feeling of belonging. I’m constantly trying to change my perception of my sensitivity being a sign of weakness, but Dr. Doty demonstrates well that in fact it could be a sign of strength ❤️ thank you 🙏

This guy was a great guest!!! I love his humbleness and vulnerability. The fact he said his wife thinks he's an asshole was hysterical and so relatable. ❤ Guest recommendation for the future is a young woman wise beyond her years Tam Kaur. I think a lot of people brush off young people but at 38 she's taught me lessons I wish I knew when I was much younger❤❤❤❤ Highly recommend. I love you Mel. I've followed you since your infamous Ted Talk. I'm kind of your neighbor here in NH. I love your work and the joy and wisdom you spread!!!❤❤❤❤ Have a great day!!!!

Mel, thank you for this priceless gift of sharing Dr. Doty with all his open heartedness and brilliance! I was always told from a young child that I was too sensitive and to stop being that way. I have come to feel that my sensitivity and empathy are my superpower! ❤❤

Oh wow! I loved this episode. I can't even begin to tell you how much. I've read so much on this topic. But he breaks it down in such a way that it just makes sense. And he makes it so simple. I've gotten away from some of my daily practices of being mindful and expressing gratitude. But Dr. Doty makes me excited to start again. Thank you both for this episode!

I've watched a few of his interviews and this one was a lot of aha moments Dr Doty is an incredible teacher and I'm so glad you had him on. I took away a very different understanding of manifestation after practicing it for so many years❤
