@@MeltinMetalAnthony Was going to comment on hard facing. Also if it is hardox... 6011 or10 is better than 7010. "Softer" fill is less prone to crack. Kind of like using stainless on cast iron, but that works well for other reasons too.

45° up for uphill sooooo 45° down for downhill? Or so I just turn my stinger upside down? Crown isn't relevant to rod angle. I'll assume you've never worked in the field.

yea i have a way to cut the holes just as fast actually. Dewalt makes really good step bits. recently i was working on a bridge that had 1" plates we needed to drill threw .. I drilled a 1/4" starter hole with the same dewalt bits i bought. then used the step bit with wd 40 and it blasted threw it . i drilled 8 holes in 10 mins.
@MoonPump2 жыл бұрын
Lol your step bit isn’t drilling holes faster than a mag drill at that size. It’s taking you the time the mag drill drills the hole to size just to get your starter bit put on, drilled through, and changed over to the step bit. Don’t kid yourself 😂 literally nothing is faster than a mag drill
@Zer0talentWoW2 жыл бұрын
@@MoonPump well seeing how I did it and it was faster than using a msg drill . My experience proves what I said to be true. So instead of acting like you know everything give my way a try. If you like I’ll post the bits and the drill I used for you to get and then you can try it. Until then dont say something isn’t faster until you try it

@@MoonPump DEWALT Step Drill Bit Set, 3-Piece (DWA1790IR) Step bits i used. 3/16 in. Cobalt Red Helix Twist Drill Bit Milwaukee brand. Used the 3/16 to make a starter hole. Then used the small step bit with wd40 which blasted threw the metal in about 30 second then used the larger step bit with WD 40 to finish. Now there are some really shitty step bits but these bits with lubrications will eat anything I recommend giving it a try. Took us less than a minute a hole. We were all in shock for how fast it went. A Mag drill took way to long just to set up when you are on the side of a bridge.

I edited this in after I watched and commented a lot: I like to comment as I watch because I actually care about learning the skills I am trying to understand and you are teaching, so here we go. Thanks for pointing out your 7018 rod use. What did you start off with, was it 6010 like later on? I know clearly a stupid question, but I have only had two welding classes, one using flux core/mig, and the current one using 6018 and 7018. When using the D rings, I would have worn a helmet, not just a face mask. ;-) Your other tips are great. Sorry if I am wasting your time MMA. But as a side note I was a physics student once, and do actually have an Economics degree, and I am a 21 year veteran back in school again. So, for you professional welders out there, you're doing better then me at this game now, but hopefully with the help of MMA, I will catch up soon...
