Simple Is Best - 11 (EASY EDGE)

In this video I'm working on a 14"x11" canvas and I simply add black paint to 1 side of my painting, tip it over and bring it back to create a cool effect along the edge. Super simple.
Products used:
For the Simple is Best effect:
-DecoArt Satin Enamels in black
For the cloud effect:
-1/2 DecoArt Satin Enamels in white
-1/2 Artist Loft flow acrylic in white
Colors:
-DecoArt Americana metallic bright copper
-Liquitex Basics in phthalocyanine blue and light blue

I discovered to use the black enamel paint by it self with little water and glue all with copper 🤗❤😍🤩💝pour last week. I used Payne grey mixed with phalo blue and cerulean and mix my orange with flouresent yellow and cadmium red and light purple mix of system 3 flouresent pink and Arteza sky blue. So vibrant 🤗 and the black enamel stood out from the rest of the paints. You are a genius!!!!! 🤗😍❤💝

Yea this is phenomenal. Holy cow. So beautiful. On a side note I'm leaving a message for every artist that inspired me years ago and gave me the courage to show people my work. You were a major major influence on me and I just wanted to say thank you. It took alot of convincing but I did start a channel and just reached 20k . so happy to see MelyD back on set! This is such a cool technique. In the states the Decoart black satin enamel is the same price as the white, about $9.00USD so I will try this! I'm also in love with the S.E color navy blue. It may create the same effect.

Yes I'm wondering about all the SE colors if they will react the same way. That would be great !! I also want to try this with the deco art extreme sheen in black (Obsidian) is the name . Those paints give amazing cell reactions also . !!! Just placed an order for every color the other day.... all the colors in the extreme are amazing !! 😉😉😉😉😉😉

Dear Mely, I know this comment is coming in late, however even though the notification was pushed, I still never got your upload. You are about the only one who gets real cells/movement, not artificial ones using silicon. Plus you wait to see what happens with the painting over time, so many do not. All your paintings are natural, how the paint reacts, but that has to do with you and how you applied each element. Gorgeous... I think the humidity Also barometric pressure has something to do with the paint setting up. We had a large storm that went through and I was doing a painting. The paint was so flat . Same paint I always use (liquitex basics ). But it just flattened out and had no dimensional look Not sure if that was the cause or not but during that storm period I scrapped the canvas three times and mixed new paint for each painting and it just would not keep its shape... it just flattened out... maybe that has something to do with the red painting. It’s still beautiful.. the colors are vibrant.and the black drawers your attention to the overall painting... it says WOW!!! Look at me.. love it love it love it...,

I discovered this effect a few weeks ago by accident. I had used the black satin enamel from Behr as an under coat to float my ring pour. The bubbles popped all over the piece and it took over. I was shocked how reactive it was and I recently used the matte Behr Maquis paint on the corners of a project and the same bubbling happened! It’s cool if you want the effect but, since I didn’t, iI had to start over. I used the Black satin enamel as a cloud pour instead of the white and the results were amazing! Thanks for your videos, they are a big help in my learning process!
