As a guy, have to agree with Emily on this one. If a guy is being "confusing" as Emily is describing it. It is because, he doesn't want to be with you, but texts/snapchats you spends time with you occasionally, because he likes something about you or wants something from you without committing. Or, it is because he does want to be with you, but he is too insecure/unsure about himself to pursue you. If a guy wants to be with you, he will make it clear to you.

Have faith! I live in Brazil and though a lot of people say they believe in God, most of them don't really care about the Bible and yet a couple months ago I met an incredible guy who loves God and his commandments more than anything. The funny thing is that I had already accepted that maybe I was gonna be a spinster. Trust God's timing and be faithful to Him. He has the best for you and you'll see it in the right time.

This sooo true! There is a HUGE difference between a boy and a man. I remember when my husband and I started dating he clearly stated that he wanted s serious relationship and that he wanted to date. There was never a question about it. Looking back I was the one that was immature I told him that we should “just hang out” (I had just broken up with my previous bf) and he was like “No, I am not doing that. I already have friends for that.” 😂 I am so glad that I changed my mind. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can’t believe I almost messed that up. Ladies, do not waste your time with a guy that “just wants to hang out” or isn’t clear about what he wants. A real man will be intentional and let you know how he feels. 💜

I remember I emailed you Emily about this EXACT kind of situation roughly 2 years ago, and I'm so glad I took your advice. It wasn't until I took a step back and looked at the situation with a clear head that I realized the guy in question was only looking for attention, and had no interest in being intentional or clear about where we stood. I couldn't cut him out of my life completely because we had so many mutual friends, but once I stopped caring and hanging on every word, it didnt matter to me anymore. I went on my way, and enjoyed myself without worrying about him or his ambiguity up through when I graduated college and said goodbye to that group of people. These situations are rough, but getting invested in something thats grounded in potential instead of reality will only hurt your heart in the long run. What’s more, a guy who does this to a girl is effectively taking her off the market. As a guy, I wouldn’t want to date a girl who I saw frequently hanging out with another guy. Even if he had told me that they weren’t dating, I would be suspicious about exactly why they’re hanging out in the fashion that dating couples do without dating. Just a thought.

I literally have to comment twice because I have been here SO many times!!! Thank you SO so so so much for this Emily...this made me emotional to watch because I am so disappointed in myself for the past decisions I made with guys who did this to me because I to a certain extent allowed it to happen. I had to bring this to God this morning and ask for forgiveness for it...I've recently realized how it's not just the physical stuff we need to set boundaries for, it's the emotional stuff too. It's all so so important. I love you SO much and literally look up to you so much, thank you for being such an amazing role model for so many of us girls. As a guy guilty of this type of behavior, I have learned that I have to go to God for forgiveness and to have self-control of my thoughts and actions. We are only complete in Christ and not in relationships. I have put pressure on myself for so long to have a girlfriend (amongst other things) that I have caused significant emotional damage to women and even myself. I currently do not believe that I will ready for a God-centered relationship until I have more self-control as a result of trusting God with my thoughts.

This is such a great topic. When I was younger fell in love with a few confusing guys but God never let me go any further with any of them. A couple months ago I finally met a real man who was clear since the beginning about his intentions and I praise God for putting him in my life because he's such a godly man. There are good men out there. Have faith. It's just not the time for you to be reunited yet. But when you do get together it will be beautiful and the wait will be worth it as it was for me.

Yes, dead on Emily. If guys are beating around the bush too much, don't trust them wanting to be your future husband. I am very clear in the way I approach women, and if I like one and want a meaningful relationship with her that leads to marriage, then I will be clear in my interest. What a great video! I wish I saw it one year ago. It made me want to share my experience with you. I had a guy friend who really liked me and showed me his affection but never actually clarified where we're at and I was so confused! And I told myself I would not care anymore but just like you said, then I got a text and another and another. It felt both great and painful. And then he sent me a box full of things, one of which was his T-shirt and I was like ' Why did he send it, what is the meaning of this? Ok I've had enough, this is killing me. The truth will set me free and I am sick and tired of being in a gray zone and wondering if this is going anywhere or not'. So I stepped in and asked him what the heck this was. One of best decisions of my life. Ever since then when I feel confused about something or some one (not necessarily a guy) I just ask. It's so easy. The truth will set you free! Honesty is the key. And if he is not brave enough to be honest with you he is not worth it. Such a cowardly thing to do. I know I'm dating a MAN right now because he told me openly and honestly about his feelings and intentions - and he made himself vulnerable in the process, of course! I was so amazed. I am not at all confused about where we're at and it's so beautiful. Everyone deserves a partner who is honest or at least someone who does not confuse you and keep you wondering 'Are we...? Will we...?' You're better than that! Thank you Emily for a great video. We're blessed to have you!

I've defined my relationships in the past. It also goes both ways women don't all want to be in a committed relationship where a definition is given either. Its worthwhile for both people to have that conversation about what we want and what the relationship currently is. Crushing those fears is what a relationship can grow from and coming from a guy who suffers from anxiety taking action and being a leader can get you through the fear of the unknown and shows you how life can be so wonderful. Good advice Emily. I am a guy and this works well for me recently. After being on no dates for about a year after a break up my friend set me up with a girl. This may not be related but I just wanted to put it out there for all those comments I see about people getting tired of looking for good Christian partners and losing faith in waiting: A little over a year ago, I first met my girlfriend at work, and we've been in a relationship for almost 5 months now. She's wise, intelligent, courageous, funny, kind, compassionate and beautiful. She's also a devout Christian. But I'm not a Christian. In fact, I'm not religious at all. I used to be a Buddhist, but I've since stopped practicing my faith. It's just something that happened over time. Her parents are highly against her dating outside her faith. Her dad is dead against me. Which hurts, because they seem to think that religious status is the only judge of character. But she saw through that and agreed to go out with me, whereas someone else would have never given me the chance. She saw that, above all, I was a good person. And she's fine with me the way I am. She's never once tried to force me to convert to Christianity. She's always respected my views, and I've always respected hers. And I've always been supportive of her faith, and still actively try to be involved in her religious activities. Mutual respect is an important thing in our relationship. We connect on a fundamental level, we share many of the same morals and principles, and we're so much like each other in many ways. We've both been through so much, and we both know what its like to smile through pain. The point is, there are good guys out there, and they don't necessarily have to be Christian. And IMO that shouldn't ever be a measuring stick of how worthy someone is. And you can still be a good Christian and love a non-religious person. The important thing is that we're all human. If you can find someone who can see past your religious status and into your soul, then you've won at life. That's how I feel. I found the girl of my dreams, I love her so so much and she makes me happy, every day. For those who are looking for love and wanting that special someone to specifically be Christian, you JUST might be missing out on someone great who happens to be non-religious, who could love you just as much, if not more. But that's up to you. :) Just wanted to share my opinion/story, I hope no one takes this offensively :)

Kind of going through this right now, but my situation is slightly different because the guy is also a friend. So I know that he does care about me, but I guess I'm unsure of what he wants. We go on "dates" and he seems to be interested, but has never tried to "make a move" or anything like that. It could be that we are both just afraid of harming our friendship. Anyone have any advice for my situation?
