Men's Boulder final | NEOM 2024

The NEOM IFSC Masters 2024 will run from 11 to 13 November, and be part of this year's NEOM Beach Games - a multi-sport event organised since 2022 that includes basketball 3X3, beach soccer, mountain bike, open water swimming, and triathlon competitions.

judging by who made it to the finals it looks like most top athletes boycotted this event? if so that's great. When the federation has zero integrity the athletes are the ones who need to step up and of course the viewers as well. But hey, with the Saudi money at least you can afford to pay your athletes decent prize money now, right IFSC?

@shibboleth_without sry for the delayed response. Neom is a pure environmental and human dystopia, many many articles and videos go over this. The values of sport climbing apparently don't matter anymore. You will note how many of the best climbers didn't participate, despite a probably *very big offer*, because it's absolutely dirty money.

I think for the most part, this format is definitely something different than what we're use to, and that in itself was interesting. That being said, this is by far the most underbaked route-setting I've seen in quite some time. I think it would have been way more competitive if they did not showed off the routes beforehand via video. As the commentators were mentioning, 2 mins of resting before going back on for round 2 is practically no rest at all. As far as presentation goes, the individual boulder intro videos were a nice touch. Boulder 2/4 were probably the better ones. 3, as the commentator was mentioning, would have been better ending on a crimp than that jug. Overall, I would not go making this the go-to format for all IFSC events. I'm waiting for two zones and a Top marker to be implemented to assist with better tie-breaking.
